Judicial report: Weather: Sunny TINY HAND (R Adcock), a starter in Race 1, was charged with a breach of Rule 80.1.b for failing to pursue the lure and was stood down for 28 days up to and including 6 April 2008 and required to complete a Satisfactory Trial.
Following Race 8, an inquiry was opened with an objection under Rule 91.1.c. lodged into the placings of VULCAN EARL and FREDERICK BAXTER. Both dogs were subsequently disqualified under Rule 60.1.
Kennel staff Elizabeth ADAMS and Stephanie GARTHWAITE were both charged with a breach of Rules 88.1 and 71.1 as a result of this incident. Both pleaded guilty to the charge and were each fined $250.00.

Race 1	MAD BUTCHER, RICCARTON - C0 - 390	Into the turn TINY HAND ran outwards and forced WICKED WAYS very wide on the track with both dogs losing all chance to finish towards the rear. A post race veterinary check on TINY HAND revealed the dog was not suffering from any injury, and the dog was stood down under Rule 80.1.b for failing to pursue the lure and required to complete a satisfactory trial.
Race 2	ASCOT PARK HOTEL - C1/2 - 390	On the turn HOMEBUSH VALERIE moved outwards and came into contact with AVANZATA causing a severe check to THEMELO. All these dogs lost ground to fill the last three placings.
Race 3	ADDED ENERGY - C1/2 - 457	BYE BYE HELEN ran ouwards colliding with KERNAHAN losing ground before running on in the straight for a close up 5th.
Race 4	SOUTHERN FLOOR CARE LTD - C1 - 390	CLASSICAL GAS drifted to the rear soon after he jump finishing at the rear. The favourite BASHEKA ran outwards after the jump before faultering into the bend and pulling up. A post race veterinary check revealed a torn pin muscle with a 28 day stand down recommended. DECCA BALE (AC Roberts) low blood count. Rule 64.14. 28 days up to asnd including 4 April 2008. BASHEKA (RS Hamilton) torn pin muscle. Rule 82.1. 28 days up to and including 6 April 2008.
Race 5	www.southlandgreyhounds.co.nz - C2/3 - 390	Both CADBURY HAND and PAYTON BALE were slow to jump. Into the bend RIVIERA CHIC was struck from behind by AWESOME DEEJAY with a check to HOMEBUSH JUSTIN. RIVIERA CHIC ran on for fourth with the other two at the rear.
Race 6	OSBOURNE ENGINEERING, BLUFF - C2/3 - 457	ZORRO MAN was squeezed between REPEAT OFFENDER and BEAUTIFUL MOMENT soon after the start losing ground. He finished fourth. HOMEBUSH BUBBLES (JT McInerney) right shoulder muscle injury. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 10 days up to and including 18 March 2008. LADY MAUREEN (M&J Hill) lame in left foreleg and carpus. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 21 days up to and including 27 March 2008.
Race 7	ILT SPEIGHTS ALE HOUSE - C4/5 - 390	All clear. ASAFA BALE (JT McInerney) left fore 2nd toe injury. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 10 days up to and including 18 March 2008. TOMMY LEE WHISKY (JT McInerney) deceased. LEUMEAH MISS (JT McInerney) small interdigital laceration right hind. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 7 days up to and including 15 March 2008.
Race 8	SOUTHLAND TIPPING COMPETITION - C4 - 390	HOMER HAND was slow to jump settling well back before running on late for fourth. Following the event it was reported that VULCAN EARL, No 3 (JT McInerney) and FREDERICK BAXTER, No 6 (JT McInerney) raced wearing the incorrect race rugs. Following inquiry with kennel staff, it was established that staff had handed the incorrect rug to FREDERICK BAXTER'S handler which resulted in VULCAN EARL also receiving the incorrect rug number. Both dogs were subsequently disqualified in terms of Rule 60.1.
Race 9	BRENDON BURKE @ SOUTHERN WIDE - C5 - 390	All clear. ANGELITO (JT McInerney) spike wound in left hind web. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 5 days up to and including 13 March 2008.
Race 10	WAXY O'SHEA'S IRISH PUB - C4/5 - 457	WINSOME CYCLONE was slow to jump finishing near the rear. GROOVY AGAIN (AC Roberts) left triceps pain. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 10 days up to and including 18 March 2008.
