Judicial report: Weather: Overcast An enquiry was opened and adjourned under Rule 43.7 into the nomination of LAGOON LAD, a c4 dog nominated in a c3 event for this meeting by trainer JT McInerney.

Race 1 ADDED ENERGY WELCOME - C0 - 390 Into the bend HALSTROM BALE and MOODY BLUE were tightened by BASHEKA on their outer both losing ground. As a result of that tightening HEAR THE CHEERS who drew the inside box was also checked coming back on BLOOMING MABEL who was badly checked finishing a distant last. A post race veterinary check revealed grazing to her front left toes with no stand down recommended.
Race 2 SOUTHERN FLOOR CARE LTD - C1 - 390 CHILE MAID drifted to the rear after the jump. Into the bend HOMEBUSH CASTOR tightened HAMBURGER and KNOW CENTS on his inner, both sustaining checks to finish at the rear. PRINCE NOAH (JT McInerney) stood down at Otago GRC on 11 February 2008. Rule 82.1. 28 days up to and including 9 March 2008.
Race 3 BRENDON BURKE @ SOUTHERN WIDE - C2 - 457 RAGIN CAJUN came up with the lids losing all chance. Soon after the jump GROOVY CARLA moved inwards and tightened GOLDEN MOVER, TWO TICK JESSIE , FREDDIE SAGE and CADBURY HAND, all four losing momentum.
Race 4 WAXY O'SHEA'S IRISH PUB - C1 - 457 MOA HUNTER checked out off ZORRO MAN as that dog drove to the lead. MOA HUNTER finished on for second. FIRM OFFER (JM Jopson) was a late scratching at kennelling with a temperature and diarrhoea. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 68.26. 7 days up to and including 20 February 2008.
Race 5 SOUTHLAND TIPPING COMPETITION - C2/3 - 390 SMOOTH STRIDER was tightened soon after the jump settling last. WHISKY'S LAD and NURSE NANCY moved down to the rail soon after checking HOMER HAND, SMOOTH STRIDER and HOMER HAND. HOMER HAND ran on for third with the others at the rear.
Race 6 ASCOT PARK HOTEL - C2 - 390 COLDHARBOR was tightened soon after the jump settling last before improving wide around the field to win. Soon after UTTER MADNESS ran inwards tightening CALLING COLLECT, DANCE FOR DANNY and CHARLI'S ECHO who was turned sideways losing considerable ground and finishing a long last. Into the home straight UTTER MADNESS was squeezed between RIVIERA CHIC and COLDHARBOR losing momentum. FORTYTHREE BELOW (JT McInerney) stood down at Christchurch GRC on 12 February 2008. Rule 82.1. 20 days up to and including 2 March 2008.
Race 7 MAD BUTCHER, RICCARTON - C3/4 - 457 TOMMY LEE WHISKY struck SANDAVE'S hindquarters into the bend coming back on BIG TEASE and WINSOME CYCLE who was forced outwards colliding with LAGOON LAD both losing all chance. BIG TEASE ran on for third.
Race 8 www.southlandgreyhounds.co.nz FINAL - C1f - 457 All clear. CAPTAIN BRUCE (MM Grant) blood in urine and tender to caudal abdomen. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 14 days up to and including 22 February 2008.
Race 9 OSBOURNE ENGINEERING, BLUFF - C3 - 457 BEAUTIFUL MOMENT came up with the lids losing all chance. Into the bend FIERY FALCON, TRENDY OPAWA and BAXTER'S GENERAL were tightened all losing ground. STYLISH HUGGIE (R Adcock) sore in both wrists. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 7 days up to and including 20 February 2008.
Race 10 ILT SPEIGHTS ALE HOUSE - C4/5 - 457 ULTIMATE BURST and ROMAN HOME camer together after the jump losing ground.
Race 11 SGRC $20 MUZZLES - C4/5 - 390 ANGELITO and TIGGERLONG FURY came together from the jump and lost ground then jostled into the turn and finished at the rear of the field. MULISHA BALE (JT McInerney) was a late scratching at kennelling with a split in the webbing of the left fore. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 68.26. 10 days up to and including 23 February 2008.
Race 12 COLORMARK LTD - C4/5 - 390 From the jump REBEL CASTE ran outwards and KNOW GOOD pushed inwards squeezing up HOMEBUSH DARCY, THRILLING BECKY, MR FUGLES and SAMUAL BAXTER with these four dogs finishing at the rear. SAMUAL BAXTER, who was severely checked in the incident and tailed off a distant last, was subject to a post race veterinary check which revealed a serious shoulder injury with a 21 day stand down recommended.
