Judicial report: Weather: Fine The Lure Driver T.Pilcher was given a warning and reminded of his obligations regarding the distance between the leading dog and the lure when the winner PADDY FLYIN got very close to catching the lure on the home turn in race 8.

Race 2 TIM JOLLY COMMERCIALS, TAUPO - C1 - 375 ZETA JONES and THRILLING TIFF collided on the bend and lost ground and all chance of a placing.
Race 3 GEON WELLINGTON SCURRY - C2 - 375 The favourite FERVID had every chance but only ran only fairly and finished in 5th place.
Race 4 DAILY GREYS TIPLINE 0900-42477 - C0 - 457 All clear. DRIVING FORWARD L.Bell Rule 64.10 In a seasonal condition and stood down for 28 days to and including 22.02.08. FLY WITH ACTION B.Cole Rule 64 Suffering from a metatarsal injury and stood down for 14 days to and including 09.02.08.
Race 5 PORTER HIRE, PALMERSTON NORTH - C2 - 375 THOMAS THE TANK was away very well but was checked in the race to the first corner and went back to the rear and stayed there to the finish.
Race 6 McENTEE EVENT HIRE SPRINT - C3 - 375 The two favourites WACK and THRILLING PARIS were away well but bumped together on the first corner and lost ground and they finished in 5th and 6th places.
Race 7 OUTBACK TRADING COMPANY LTD - C4 - 375 THRILLING PIPER was slow to begin and lost 4 lengths but then ran on well for 4th place. LAGOON LADY was away well but was checked on the first corner and dropped out to finish in last place. LAGOON LADY was examined by the Vet and stood down for 10 days with a leg injury and also a tail injury which possibly occurred when pulling up at the lure. LAGOON LADY Freeman & Turnwald Rule 82 Suffered from leg and tail injuries and stood down for 10 days to and including 06.02.08.
Race 8 WIZARD HOME LOANS MANAWATU CUP - HEAT ONEC5q - C5q - 457 Heat 1 KEROMA ASSASSIN, TEEJAY and THRILLING HUGO were all checked and lost ground on the first corner. The winner PADDY FLYIN got extremely close to the lure entering the home straight but the lure then pulled away. The authorisation for payment was held up while the Stewards inquired into the matter but were satisfied that the only runner which may have been slightly inconvenienced was the winner and the payout authority was given. The Lure Driver was formally warned in relation to the matter and advised that more care should be taken in maintaining an acceptable distance between the lure and the leading runner. THRILLING GERT K.Walsh Rule 64 Suffering from a wrist injury and stood down for 10 days to and including 06.02.08
Race 9 THE TRUSTS CHARITABLE FOUNDATION MIDDLE DISTANCE - C1 - 457 STORM LARGE was checked on the first corner and dropped out to finish in 2nd last place.
Race 10 WIZARD HOME LOANS MANAWATU CUP - HEAT 2 - C5q - 457 Heat 1 One of the favourites SLINGBACK faltered on the first corner and dropped out to finish several lengths last. He was examined by the Vet and cleared of injury at the time of examination
