Judicial report: Weather: Fine Handler R. Blackburn was fined $25.00 for a breach of Rule 71.2 after he retrieved THRILLING ALBERT (AC Roberts) only four minutes before the starting time of the Race 8..

Race 1 ADVANCE PERFORMANCE SPRINT - C3/4 - 295 MILANION and HOMEBUSH BONNIE were both slow to jump from the outside boxes. MILANION remained at the rear throughout with HOMEBUSH BONNIE running on for fifth. The favourite FOUL PLAY drifted early before making good ground for its third placing.
Race 2 NUTRI-ZING SPRINT - HEAT 1 - C1q - 295 Heat 1 RUN LIKE GEORGE and MULBERRY CHIEF came together when racing in tight quarters into the bend with both dogs dropping to the rear.
Race 3 NUTRI-ZING SPRINT - HEAT 2 - C1q - 295 Heat 1 WHISKY'S LAD lost ground on the first bend when he came together with HEAPS HECTIC. He remained well back thereafter. At the same time ADIO ROUTINE and RICHTER were tightened when WHERES YABREEKS ran off the fence with both dogs losing ground.
Race 4 WILLY WHAT @ STUD STAKES - C1 - 520 BAXTERS LAD jumped outwards shortly after the start with BIG TEASE losing ground as a result. BIG TEASE made up a lot of ground thereafter to finish third. Into the first bend TRINITY THUNDA, MERCEDES HOPE and HIDDEN SECRETS were all tightened and lost ground. They all finished in midfield.
Race 5 NUTRI-ZING SPRINT - HEAT 3 - C1q - 295 Heat 1 General tightening into the bend resulted in WHATA ASSASSIN running outwards and checking SPARKLING WAVES, MULBERRY TRICK and BLING BLING KING with all dogs losing ground and finishing towards the rear. NO VICES (AL Hart) chest muscle pain. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 10 days up to and including 17 January 2007.
Race 6 NUTRI-ZING SPRINT - HEAT 4 - C1q - 295 Heat 1 Favourite TO CASUAL was the last to jump but sprinted throught along the inside on the bend to hit the lead and record an impressive victory. Into the bend SMART WAY ran outwards on to THRILLING CROC with most of the field being hampered in the resulting scramble. Shortly after ZAMWHEN hit the rail when trying to recover from this incident. A post race veterinary check revealed no injury.
Race 7 NUTRI-ZING SPRINT - HEAT 5 - C1q - 295 Heat 1 CASSIUS PHOENIX was tightened and lost ground shortly after the jump and remained last throughout. BAXTER'S BOY was held up into the bend losing ground before running on for fifth.
Race 8 DANNY MILLWOOD PLASTERING STAKES - C2 - 520 Favourite FIERY FALCON and WHATA DUDE came together into the first bend while shortly after WHATA DUDE and THRILLING ALBERT made contact. This forced FIERY FALCON outwards making contact with LIGHT POCKETS. A post race veterinary check on FIERY FALCON revealed THRILLING MELODY ran wide on the first bend to escape the incidents and lost ground.
Race 9 HOUNDS FOR HOMES PH 03-312-1699 DASH - C0 - 295 GOLD MERIT was very slow to jump and remained well back throughout. AMBEROSE ran outwards on the home turn taking RAMAHANA ROSIE wider on the track. They finished third and fourth respectively. GOLD QUIZ hit the rail free of interference into the bend and lost considerable ground finishing last. A post race veterinary check revealed no injury.
Race 10 HAMPDEN TAVERN STAKES - C0 - 520 WHIPOCHET caused a small delay to the start of this race when proving difficult to box away. The dog then came up with the lids losing a lot of ground and remained last throughout. MAYBE WILBUR was also slow to jump and remained well back.
Race 11 TUESDAY PLACE PICK STAKES - C2 - 520 Favourite TRENDY OPAWA received a check in the back straight when attempting to improve around ACCORD. He never recovered finishing fifth. MADAME JO JO was second into the straight but stopped quickly finishing sixth. A post race veterinary check revealed no injury.
Race 12 FLAIR DASH - C0 - 295 BRIGHT GEORGE was last to jump and was also checked when trying to improve on the inside of PAREORA LASS into the bend. Both dogs finished at the rear.
Race 13 WILSONS SPORTS BAR & TAB DASH - C2 - 295 Tightening into the bend occurred when SILVER CRISIS, SMART WAVES, LIPSLIDE SKINNY and BRUNO DIABLO were all checked. This was due to HEAPS CLASSY holding its ground along the rail with others trying to improve in tight quarters. EL ASSASSIN had its back legs taken by KRACKER as it got to the lead losing some momentum with KRACKER dropping back through the field to last where it stayed. COCONUT ICE (C Mitchell) right triceps pain. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 10 days up to and including 18 January 2007.
Race 14 ON COURSE $8 ROAST & REFRESHMENT STAKES - C1 - 520 JACKPOT JACK and BLUE FERN tangled badly out of the straight with THRILLING EVO being checked in the incident. These dogs all finished well back although JACKPOT JACK did make up some ground for fourth. BACARDI CUP(R Casey) was a late scratching at kennelling with diarrhoea. Rule 68.26. 5 days up to and including 13 January 2007.
Race 15 SUPER PETS SPRINT - C3 - 295 BARDO'S ANGEL was checked when racing in tight quarters into the first bend and dropped out to last. THAT VIRUS was checked when crossing PAINT THE STARS approaching the home turn and lost ground never recovering. NOT A WHATA lost ground on the turn when easing off KIWI NIKO to get a run. Once in the clear he ran on nicely for second.
Race 16 CONTAINERMAN STAKES - C0 - 520 ROAMING FOR GOLD was slow to jump making up a bit of ground for fifth. Favourite YOUR TURN was tightened into the first bend losing momentum but recovered well to run on for another second.
Race 17 CHALLENGE OPAWA ALL UP STAKES - C5 - 520 KAKAMA and OPAWA ROSE tangled when at the back of the field into the first bend and lost ground remaining at the back throughout.
Race 18 NZ RACING SERIES #11 SPRINT FINAL - RESf - 295 HOMEBUSH FITZY, NGAWI BAY and favourite AWESOME AUTUMN were all tightened when vying for positions wide on the track into the bend with NGAWI BAY copping the worst of the checks coming back and pushing REPEAT OFFENDER wide around that bend. These dogs filled the last four placings.
Race 19 BACK NEXT TUESDAY DASH - C5 - 295 WIZELEE and LIPSLIDE tangled into the bend with both dogs losing their chances. Favourite RUDI JEWEL was slow away and then forced wide around the first bend when avoiding WIZELEE and LIPSLIDE. He put up an exceptional performance to get within half a length of the winner in third place. MISSING FERN (GA Cleeve) left hind sandcrack in webbing and nailbed infection. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 5 days up to and including 13 January 2007.
Race 20 CANTERBURY DRAUGHT SIX PACK - C4 - 520 TIMELY FLIRT checked off GROOVY AGAIN on the home bend with an improving JOHNNY BAXTER clipping GROOVY AGAIN and in turn checking FUNNY GIRL. All dogs finished towards the rear. ARROGANT SHIRAZ (J&D Fahey) stood down Waikato GRC on 5 January 2007. Rule 80.1. 3 months up to and including 4 April 2007
