Judicial report: Weather: Overcast Race 4. Trainer, G.J.Noakes was fined $75.00 for an admitted breach of Rule 69.11 resulting from Quiver Lip being 1.6kg overweight from it's previous race start on 29.09.06.

Race 1 | STREETS ICE CREAM DASH - C0 - 318 | That Bloke reared as the boxes opened, lost several lengths and made up ground for 4th. Santas Awesome and Siska Sunset came together after 15 mtrs with both being checked slightly. Stormy Knight and Santas Awesome came together after 40 mtrs and jostled and checked each other several times until entering the first turn. That Bloke was tightened between runners and severely checked on the first turn, lost 3 lengths and then ran wide on the home turn. Siska Sunset and That Bloke came together for a stride on the bend with Siska Sunset being severely checked. |
Race 2 | PUTT AROUND THE ROCKS DASH - C1 - 318 | Montecito ran inwards at the start and inconvenienced Thrilling Bird. General tightening after 15 mtrs resulted in severe checks to Got Hope, Trendy Time, Call Me Loyal and to a lesser extent Trasit and Catch A Virus. Entering the first turn Montecito clipped the heels of Thrilling Bird and ran outwards sharply, lost several lengths then recovered well for 4th. Catch A Virus galloped on the hind quarters of Call Me Loyal on the first turn with both being severely checked. Thrilling Bird ran very wide on the home turn and finished on strongly in the home straight for 2nd. |
Race 3 | LION FOUNDATION STAKES - C2 - 527 | Killer Touch and Gentle Lee were very slow to begin with Killer Touch recovering well to finish 2nd. Our Freddie and Maximum came together at the start with Maximum being severely checked, drifting to the rear and showing no improvement thereafter. Entering the first turn Hopplar moved inwards to the rail and the leading position causing a slight check to Tent Top. Thrilling Fury (N.Udy). Left metacarpal pain. Vet certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 10 days to and including 21.10.06. |
Race 4 | MEADOWSET GRAPHICS DASH - C2 - 318 | Davron Lass and Andwyn came together for a stride at the start. Hot Doc moved inwards after 30 mtrs and checked Quiver Lip slightly. Nearing the first turn general tightening and subsequent movement resulted in severe checks to Davron Lass, San Shin, Andwyn, Quiver Lip, Lord Maximus and Big Archie which recovered well to win. |
Race 5 | OXYSHOT NEW ZEALAND DASH - C3/4 - 318 | Entering the first turn general tightening resulted in a severe check to Jacki Flex and to a lesser degree to Movie Man, Origin Teddy and Nitro Lad with Movie Man then taking evasive action by running outwards sharply and carting Joebees Jet and Glenmire with it which were also severely checked. Joebees Jet ran very wide on the home turn when near the rear and finished 7th. |
Race 6 | COMMERCIAL PLUMBING LTD STAKES - C4 - 527 | Richfield Reason and Massachusetts were the slowest to begin. Entering the first turn general tightening resulted in checks to Coruba Rush, Willandra Bale and Fats Domino. Shortly after Willandra Bale and Massachusetts came together with the latter losing it's balance, almost falling and then recovering well without losing ground. |
Race 7 | PACIFIC SHEET & COIL (NZ) LTD DASH - C5 - 318 | Noble Osti and Deadlock were the slowest to begin. Stooge moved inwards at the start and checked Exceptional Kola slightly. Comical Ali, Flash Shooter and Noble Osti were involved in a bumping duel for several strides on the bend with all being checked slightly. Troubled Times was denied racing room nearing the home turn. Deadlock moved outwards on the home turn and checked itself and Noble Osti slightly. |
Race 8 | CAROL'S TABS' DASH - C4 - 318 | General tightening after 20 mtrs resulted in slight checks to Secret Teddy, Dreamaqueen, Cheap and Loaded Gun. Cheap changed ground outwards on the home turn when at the rear and lost several lengths. Thrilling Pirate (N.Udy). Sprained left infraspinatus muscle. Vet certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 10 days to and including 21.10.06. |
Race 9 | 'WE RACE SUNDAY 15TH OCTOBER' DASH - C1 - 318 | Smart Bart, Grays Joe and I've Got Mail were the slowest to begin. Smart Bart and Grays Joe jostled for several strides after 30 mtrs and again nearing the first turn. Entering the first turn Spyridon Louis moved inwards to the rail and checked Maggy Jay. Smart Bart ran very wide on the first turn and remained wide for the entire race, covering a lot of extra ground and finishing 7th. A post race veterinary examination of this runner detected an injury requiring a 5 day stand down from racing. Smart Bart (M.J.Lozell). Abrasion to left hind main pad.
