Judicial report: Weather: Wet An inquiry was opened and adjourned in respect of Opawa Rose (J&D Fahey) under Rule 64 as a result of her qualifying for two finals at todays meeting.

Race 1 ADVANCE PERFORMANCE DASH - C4 - 295 ELLA LEE was slow to jump improving quickly to sit outside the leader into the bend to finish second. Into the bend HOMEBUSH JESSIE tightened JANE'S COMMANDO both coming back on HOMEBUSH OPAL. These three lost all chance finishing at the rear.
Race 2 CANTERBURY DRAUGHT SIX PACK - C1 - 520 HAE SOON and the favourite LESHITA were tightened soon after the jump settling at the rear. Into the bend THRILLING ALBERT and MULBERRY CHIEF tangled with MULBERRY CHIEF sustaining a severe check. He finished at the rear alongside HAE SOON and LESHITA, with THRILLING ALBERT running on for second.
Race 3 WILSONS SPORTS BAR & TAB DASH FINAL - C0f - 295 RAMAHANA ROSIE and HOMEBUSH VEEJAY were the slowest to leave the traps and remained at the rear throughout.
Race 4 SHINING KEV MAIDEN STAKES - C0 - 520 LADY MAUREEN was tightened soon after the jump settling last and never improving. HIDDEN SECRETS ran wide around the first bend taking MERCEDES HOPE with her. MERCEDES HOPE ran on for third with HIDDEN SECRETS near the rear. JOHNNY BAXTER (JT McInerney) diarrhoea. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate suuplied. Rule 64.12. 6 days up to and including 23 July 2006.
Race 5 HAPPY 60TH BIRTHDAY DENISE - C0 - 520 THRILLING CANDY, HOMEBUSH STELLA and WHATA ASSASSIN tangled entering the back straight losing momentum. They finished at the rear. THRILLING CHAD who settled well back stormed home along the rail in the home straight to finish second.
Race 6 GREYHOUND RACING TUESDAY FROM 1 AUGUST DASH - C3 - 295 WHATA YA KNOW and JALOUX JUNCTION drifted to the rear after the jump. Into the bend SHIFNAL CHIEF, AWESOME AUTUMN and CLAN JAYDEE were badly checked as a result of general tightening losing all chance and coming back on WHATA YA KNOW and JALOUX JUNCTION. These five finished some distance from the placegetters as a result. JALOUX JUNCTION was subject to a post race veterinary check with nothing detected.
Race 7 CHALLENGE OPAWA ALL UP - C1 - 520 TRINITY THUNDA and KIWI YOUNG were slow to jump settling at the rear. At the end of the back straight CYBIL DEFENCE checked off MCCRACKENS BOY coming in contact with TRINITY THUNDA. These four finished at the rear. THRILLING MAX jumped well driving to the lead into the first bend winning untested.
Race 8 CONTAINERMAN SPRINT FINAL - C1f - 295 CRAFTY CARSON jumped to the lead from the boxes to win easily in a very quick time.
Race 9 BILLS BAR & BISTRO STAKES FINAL - C1f - 520 SUZY SANDSTORM was tightened by GROOVY AGAIN into the first bend falling before regaining her feet to chase the field home. A post race veterinary check revealed nothing amiss.
Race 10 NZ STAYERS CUP TOMORROW NIGHT DASH - C3 - 295 The lure failed into the bend with all eight dogs catching the lure. They were examined by the veterinarian and declared fit to race, with the event scheduled to run at 10.38pm so as not to interfere with the last harness event. At the re run LA NOSEY and TUDOR QUEEN were checked into the bend settling at the rear. Soon after HOMEBUSH KIM checked off FOUL PLAY running wide and forcing WHATA TOWN wide as well. Turning for home HOMEBUSH KIM was tightened between TUDOR QUEEN and WHATA TOWN, sustaining a severe check to finish a clear last. The others finished well back. It was established that the nut on the drive wheel of the lure had loosened resulting in the failure. The spare lure was used at the re run without problem.
