Cambridge Raceway ON THURSDAY 15 Jun 2006

Weather:
Track: Good Good
Scales: Correct at all weights
Health and Safety comment:

Judicial report: Weather: Overcast / cold. Race 1. Due to a running rail power circuit break the lure stopped 40 mtrs from the finishing line. Upon further investigation the Club maintenance team detected two breaks in the circuit and immediately began the necessary repair work to restore the power.
Stewards took into account the uncertainty as to the time needed to complete the repairs and retest the lure function, the fact that the greyhounds in this race (375 mtrs) were designated sprinters and had already galloped 335 mtrs and the opinion of the Officiating Veterinary Surgeon who supported the race being abandoned. Handlers of the greyhounds were also consulted prior to the Stewards' decision being made to abandon the race under Rule 76.6 on the basis that a rerun would have required the greyhounds to run a total of 710 mtrs which would have been detrimental to their welfare.
Extensive testing (20 trials) of the lure function had been carried out prior to Race 1 with no faults detected.
The Club maintenance team is acknowledged for their quick response to the problem and subsequent repairs which minimized the delay to Race 2.
************
Race 2. Papamoa Lass (P.B.Freeman) turned in the boxes and failed to take any competitive part in the race finishing a distant last. Stewards have ordered a Satisfactory Trial be completed by this greyhound under Rule 81 prior to nomination to race.
************
Race 3. Trainer P.B.Freeman (Dancing Banshee) was fined $100.00 (second offence) for an admitted breach of Rule 69.11 in that this greyhound recorded a 1.3kg underweight variance from it's previous race start on 07.06.06.
