Race 1 SUNSMART SPRINT FINAL - C0f - 318 Mr Miargi, Lady Tandia, Jacki Flex and Cheap were the slowest to begin. Positive Force (fav and 2nd) ran outwards at the start and checked Dreamaqueen slightly. Jacki Flex was hampered and became unbalanced prior to the first turn. Mr Miargi endeavoured to push outwards nearing the first turn jostling with and severely checking Lady Tandia. These runners then raced very wide for some distance around the first turn and bend. Positive Force galloped on the heels of and severely checked Waitaha Rua on the bend. A post race veterinary examination of Waitaha Rua detected an injury requiring a 10 day stand down from racing. Delability (J.R.Nixon) Rule 82.1 ex Waikato GRC on 06.01.06. Waitaha Rua (D.W.Mathews). Evidence of swelling in upper muscles consistent with strain or sprain. Rule 82.1. 10 days up to and including 20.01.06.
Race 2 STREETS ICE CREAM STAKES - C1 - 527 This race was 2 minutes late starting due to Destiny's Run requiring unexpected taping of it's tail prior to parading. Criteria and El Token were the slowest to begin. Suitability and Sable Gold came together entering the first turn. El Token drifted to a distant last on the first bend and never improved. A post race veterinary examination detected no injury. A warning was issued to Trainer R.J.M.Smith to improve the racing manners / performance of this greyhound. Suitability ran very wide entering the home straight.
Race 3 COCA-COLA DASH - C1 - 318 Jimmytheone, Thrilling Archie, Sea Master and Our Shereena were slowest to begin. Jimmytheone galloped on the heels of Lord Maximus (fav and 7th) after 40 mtrs. Thrilling Archie clipped the heels of Big Archie entering the first turn. Jimmytheone ran outwards on the home turn and severely checked itself and Lord Maximus. Big Archie (winner) moved inwards 30 mtrs from the finish and raced in tight quarters with Goldfinger Jewel (2nd).
Race 4 MEADOWSET GRAPHICS DASH - C2 - 318 Farmer Benson and Rock It Hound came together after 30 mtrs with both being checked. Junior Time and Charlston Zoom came together after 40 mtrs with both being checked. Farmer Benson and Junior Time came together after 50 mtrs with both being checked. Sister Saintly and Rock It Hound came together on the home turn.
Race 5 COMMERCIAL PLUMBING STAKES - C4/5 - 527 Rogan Reason was slow to begin then made up ground strongly on the rail to win well. Kola's Glory (fav and 5th) was tightened and severely checked entering the first turn and then changed ground outwards nearing the home turn.
Race 6 PUKEKOHE TRAVEL STAKES - FINAL - C1f - 527 Cosmic Eclipse, Trendy Time and Tempest Lass were the slowest to begin. Tempest Lass moved outwards on the first bend took the path of and checked Trendy Time. Hola A Hypo moved outwards on the first bend and checked Cosmic Eclipse.
Race 7 CAROL'S TABS' DASH - C2/3 - 318 Hello Awesome (fav and 5th) was slow to begin. Leslies Pearl ran outwards and Don Paulie inwards after the start causing severe tightening and checks to all runners with the exception of Comical Ali and Time Over Boots. Entering the first turn Hello Awesome moved outwards off the rail and checked Leslies Pearl and Don Paulie. Shortly after Hello Awesome became unbalanced and clipped the hind legs of Time Over Boots which in turn moved outwards and galloped on the hind quarters of and severely checked Comical Ali. Don Paulie was also checked in this incident. On the bend Time Over Boots moved outwards and hampered Don Paulie and Hello Awesome. Davron Lass (R.P.O'Regan). Torn pads both hind feet. Race 8 www.exposures.co.nz - WEBSITE HOSTING STAKES - C2 - 527 Last Account and Thrilling Fella (fav and winner) were the slowest to begin. Miss Tonsberg moved outwards on the first turn and checked Rothvale Reason. Nearing the home turn Thrilling Fella moved outwards from a trailing position and checked Sea Drifter. Frosty's Special (N.P.Green). Abraded pads. Vet certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 10 days up to and including 18.01.06.
Race 9 NORTHERN DIGITAL PHOTOFINISH DASH - C4 - 318 Osbourne reared as the boxes opened and then came together with Tiger Strike for a stride. Kola's Express drifted shortly after the start and was always near the rear thereafter. Tarrah (fav and winner) and Corston Flyer came together for stride nearing the first turn. Corston Flyer was handy early, drifted on the bend, then carted wide and finished last. On the home turn Osbourne moved outwards and inconvenienced Tiger Strike.
Race 10 TRILLIAN TRUST DASH - C5 - 318 Stooge was the slowest to begin then made up ground strongly to finish 2nd. Nearing the first turn Poetical was galloped on from behind and severely checked by Gold Strike. Bigbad Edna (fav and 5th) and Nasty Streak came together for a stride nearing the first turn with both being checked. Bigbad Edna then raced very wide throughout.
Race 11 'SEE YOU SUNDAY 15 JANUARY' STAKES - C3 - 527 Kinda Devilish (3rd) was the slowest to begin. Shifnal Chief moved outwards on the home turn and carted Rialto Reason over extra ground. Virtuoso (P.W.Cleaver). Infected spiking wound to the ventral interdigital skin of the right hind foot, sandburn and related laceration on same leg. Vet certificate supplied. Rule 64.12. 10 days up to and including 19.01.06.
