Race 10. A Stewards' Inquiry was opened into the racing manners in the home straight of In Defence (D.Schofield) (Refer Race Incident Report).
Following the review of video coverage consideration was given to laying a charge against In Defence for a breach of NZGRA Rule 80.1 (b). In conjunction with this consideration Rule 80.2 requires that the greyhound be examined by the Officiating Veterinarian which was therefore ordered and resulted in injuries being detected in accordance with Rules 80.3 and 80.5. Therefore a period of suspension was not enforceable and the decision was reached to impose the Satisfactory Trial required in accordance with Rule 80.5 and requirements / conditions of Rule 81.
