Judicial report: Weather: Fine / warm Race 4. Calm Illusion's trainer P.J.Clark was advised to give attention to the starting manners of this greyhound which lost all chance due to rearing when the starting boxes opened.

Classy Breeze and Pattys Answer (fav and 3rd) were the slowest to begin. Pattys Answer was denied racing room and checked slightly after 70 mtrs and again on the first turn. |
Race 2 | SUPERIOR CAMBRIDGE CLASSIC - HEAT 2 - R/Aq - 457 Heat 1 | Siesmic ran inwards and Lord Maximus outwards after the start causing tightening and slight checks to Thrilling Newton and Angelica. Entering the first turn Thrilling Newton when racing at the rear clipped the heels of and checked Flash Wink. Thrilling Newton then made up ground strongly for 3rd. |
Race 3 | SUPERIOR CAMBRIDGE CLASSIC - HEAT 3 - R/Aq - 457 Heat 1 | Greatwhite and Thrilling Hugo (fav and winner) then Thrilling Hugo and Hey Zeus came together for a stride after the start with all being checked. |
Race 4 | SUPERIOR CAMBRIDGE CLASSIC - HEAT 4 - R/Aq - 457 Heat 1 | This race was 4 minutes late starting due to the prolonged exit time of horses from the trotting track following their race and greyhound track maintenance. Our Smart Buddy and Aranui Gold were slow to begin. Calm Illusion reared as the boxes opened, lost 5 lengths and was always a distant last thereafter. Trainer P.J.Clark was advised to give attention to this greyhound's starting manners. Shifnal Chief was tightened slightly, changed ground and lost a length on the bend. Thrilling Jay (K.Walsh). Sore right distal fibula. Vet certificate supplied. Rule 259. 10 days up to and including 31.12.05. |
Race 5 | SANTA SPRINT - C1/2 - 375 | Rock It Hound (N.P.Green) was a late scratching under NZGRA Rule 269.3 due to a 1.7kg weight variance from it's previous race start. Charlston Flash and Togetherness (fav and 2nd) were slowest to begin. Jack Rhode (winner) moved outwards on the first turn, checked Velvot Revolver racing on it's outer which dropped back into the path of Candy Coated which was also checked. Rock It Hound (N.P.Green). Race 6 | XMAS EVE SPRINT - C3 - 375 | Hove Dale and Kalkaringi came together for a stride at the start with both being slightly checked. Leslies Pearl ran inwards at the start and slightly checked itself and Miamigo. Entering the first turn Winsome Bonnie moved outwards from a tight spot and hampered Dyna Sandra for several strides. |
Race 7 | CAMBRIDGE RACEWAY CHRISTMAS DASH - C4/5 - 375 | Spring Storm and Dyna Ropati then Spring Storm and I'm Wishing came together for a stride at the start. A post race veterinary examination of Fancy Bonnie detected no injury. Bob Allen (G.N.Pomeroy). Bruising to left gracilis / possible sheath tear. Vet certificate supplied. Race 8 | THOMAS WOOD PHOTOGRAPHY STAKES - C4/5 - 457 | Bevron Road (4th), Charlston State (2nd) and Raheny Reason (7th) were the slowest to begin. Entering the first turn Big Sam Junior (5th) moved outwards and caused tightening and checks to itself, Charlston State, Willandra Bale (6th) and Raheny Reason. |
Race 9 | BACK HERE 29 DECEMBER STAKES - C2 - 457 | Last Account and Thrilling Dash were the slowest to begin. Holah A Hypo and Spyridon Louis came together for a stride at the start. Entering the first turn Rothvale Reason moved inwards to the rail and tightened Thrilling Dash which dropped back 3 lengths and showed little improvement to finish 6th. |
Race 10 | MERRY CHRISTMAS STAKES - C1 - 457 | Shanti (G.J.Noakes) was a late scratching under NZGRA Rule 269.3 due to a 2.2kg weight variance from it's previous race start. General tightening after 15 mtrs resulted in checks to Bonified, Thrilling Neo, Rockwell Reason and Richfield Reason with Rockwell Reason dropping out to last and never improving.
