Judicial report: Weather: Overcast Race 1. Giggilo Gee Jay (S.Blackburn). Ordered to complete a Satisfactory Trial under NZGRA rule 179.1 prior to being nominated to race again.
*************
Following the running of this race the Lure Driver ( T.Green) was questioned regarding the lure distance from the leading greyhound (Distinctly Roys) for approximately 15 mtrs of the home straight. It was considered that the lure was no more than 3 mtrs in front however the leader was well clear of the remainder of the field and at no time changed stride, drew level with, passed or touched the lure in accordance with NZGRA rule 305.2. The winning margin was two and a half lengths.
Mr Green explained that as a result of severe interference on the final bend, he found it necessary to make a speed adjustment (slower) to the lure in order to maintain it an acceptable distance in front however the greyhound which recovered best from the interference (Distinctly Roys) did so much sooner and faster than anticipated resulting in it getting closer to the lure than intended in the home straight which then required a further speed adjustment. Mr Green's explanation was accepted and noted.
