Judicial report: Weather: Fine The race performances / manners of Hostile Girlie (Race 3) and Hostile Arch (Race 9) were discussed with Trainer G.A.Lawrence and the decision reached to monitor forthcoming performances closely.
*************
Race 5. The extraction off the lure manners of Hove Dale, at the finish of the race, were monitored and noted.
*************
The track maintenance team grooming the trotting track between greyhound races at this dual code race meeting were consulted in relation to several greyhound races being forced to start later than the scheduled times as a result of trotting track maintenance continuing to be undertaken right up to the time of greyhounds being loaded into the starting boxes. An experimental solution to the problem was agreed to and all remaining greyhound races started on schedule.
*************
Following Race 8 the Lure Driver (E. Koroheke) expressed concern that the lure carriage was surging at times to a faster then slower speed than it was being driven. Following further testing and consultation with P.Henley (Club President) it was decided to change the lure carriage prior to Race 9. Although there was no visual problem with the lure speed in this race the Lure Driver again expressed concern that the surging still existed. The suggestion was then received that the resistors in Lure Driver's control unit may be faulty and causing the power surge problem. The spare control unit was therefore connected and tested. Race 10 was subsequently run without the problem reoccurring. Mr Henley advised that the Club would have the faulty control box fully serviced prior to the next race meeting.
