Judicial report: Weather: Fine RR Blackburn, owner of CONNECT, a starter in Race 9, was charged with a breach of Rules 262.2 and 135.1, when presenting the dog 55 minutes late for kennelling. He was fined $100.00 with CONNECT permitted to compete.

Race 1 | RANGIORA BULK MEAT SPRINT - C1 - 295 | Into the first bend HOMEBUSH WAVE was tightened between TYRONES AWESOME and the winner JAZZMAN, coming back on HOMEBUSH MIKEY, resulting in HOMEBUSH WAVE falling. CLAN MISTY and HOMEBUSH KIM both sustained checks and they finished at the rear with HOMEBUSH MIKEY. HOMEBUSH WAVE was subject to a post race veterinary check which revealed no injury. |
Race 2 | SCHULTZ PANEL & PAINT STAKES - C1 - 520 | The favourite GREATWHITE was tightened soon after the jump settling at the rear. When improving into the back straight he and CAWBOURNE FRIEND came in contact. GREATWHITE only battled over the concluding stages to finish second to last with CAWBOURNE FRIEND fifth. DAPPER DENA was checked into the first bend drifting to last and never improving. BLAH BLAH was tighted into the first bend losing momentum finishing sixth. |
Race 3 | FLAIR SPRINT - C0 - 295 | Into the first bend KAKAMA, HOMEBUSH RYAN and IN AWE OUT came together losing ground. Around the bend SYDNEY ROOSTER ran out taking ANDREWS MATE with him. Into the home straight IN AWE OUT chased SYDNEY ROOSTER wide on the track fighting with that dog. A charge was preferred under Rule 322(1)(a) against trainer RD Blackburn. The charge was proven with IN AWE OUT stood down for a period of three months up to and including 20 November 2005. MOO MOO ME (A Hart& K Taylor) sprained left hind toe. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 259. 14 days up to and including 2 September 2005. IN AWE OUT (RD Blackburn) Rule 322 (1)(a) three months up to and including 20 November 2005 and to undertake a saisfactory trial in accordance with Rule 179. |
Race 4 | CHALLENGE OPAWA CANTERBURY O.T.B MAIDEN - HEAT 1 - C0q - 520 Heat 1 | HEZA MYSTERY was very slow to jump. Soon after the jump HOMEBUSH CLAN ran outwards checking JOE MILLIONAIRE who settled last running on in the home straight for sixth. HEZA MYSTERY improved down the back to finish on for fourth. At the end of the back straight COUNTRY TIME checked off SOMERSET BLUE, drifting out to finish last. DOUBLE IDENITY was checked post race by the veterinarian and found to a right hind medial sesamoid injury with a 14 day stand down recommended. DARKOZARK KNIGHT (JT McInerney) left shoulder muscle soreness. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 259. 7 days up to and including 26 August 2005. DOUBLE IDENITY (AH Lee) right hind medial sesamoid injury. Rule 329. 14 days up to and including 3 September 2005. |
Race 5 | DARREN HOPEWELL IN LOVE STAKES - C1 - 295 | HAUNTED HALL was slow from the inside box. Into the first bend the favourite ICONIC LADY was tightened by dogs on her outer losing all chance . She and HAUNTED HALL filled the last two places. MARIA HANOVER (K Lawrence& S Lockett) sprained right hind toe. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 259. 14 days up to and including 1 September 2005. |
Race 6 | SHIRLEY VETERINARY SPRINT - C0 - 295 | GRAND MASTER lost all chance at the start when slow jumping finishing last. Into the first bend ASTRO DOO, HOMEBUSH FITZY and HOMEBUSH BELLA came together losing ground. HOMEBUSH BELLA ran on well for fourth with the other two towards the rear. HOOKER BEAR (PB Freeman) stood down at Otago GRC meeting on 18 August 2005. Rule 322(1)(b) one month up to and including 17 September 2005. |
Race 7 | CHALLENGE OPAWA CANTERBURY O.T.B MAIDEN - HEAT 2 - C0q - 520 Heat 1 | The favourite HOLAH A HYPO lost all chance when very slow to jump, running on for a distant sceond. FOUR WAY GEM drove to the lead to run away to win very easily. |
Race 8 | DAVE & JEAN FAHEY STAKES - C1 - 520 | SONNY BILL ALLEN was slow to jump settling last before improving down the back running on well for third. CLAN MURDOCH and the favourite ROYAL TAP were tightened into the first bend losing ground. They filled the last two places. |
Race 9 | CHALLENGE OPAWA CANTERBURY O.T.B MAIDEN - HEAT 3 - C0q - 520 Heat 1 | CLAN MARY LOU was slow to jump. CELTIC WOLF ran out soon after jumping checking LOOKOUT LARRY, CLAN MARY LOU, CONNECT and HOMEBUSH KNINE. CONNECT finished well in the straight to win with the others at the rear. HOMEBUSH DEEJAY (JT McInerney) diarrhoea. Dog presented. Veterinary cettificate supplied. Rule 259. 5 days up to and including 24 August 2005. |
Race 10 | UNLIMITED BALLS LTD SPRINT - C0 - 295 | OUT COLD was slow to jump settling at the rear before running on for fourth. |
Race 11 | CANTERBURY DRAUGHT SIX PACK - C1 - 520 | The favourite FUNNY GIRL jumped to the lead from the boxes before being headed into the first bend where she was struck by a trailing LOCHINVAR FIRE. She lost all chance when buffeted by INCOGNITO, MILCH and CLAN JAYDEE who also lost all chance. They finished at the rear alongside FUNNY GIRL with LOCHINVAR FIRE running on for third.. |
