Weather:
Track: Good Firm
Scales: Correct at all weights
Health and Safety comment:

Judicial report: Weather: Overcast Race 9. The performance of the favourite Thrilling Newton (W.T.Hodgson) was the subject of a Stewards' inquiry including a veterinary examination which detected lameness and a strained left hind hock resulting in a 14 day stand down from racing under Rule 329.
Following an in-depth review of this runner's performance by the Stipendiary Steward and Club Judicial Steward which included consultation with and confirmation from the Veterinary Surgeon that the nature and extent of the injury could have contributed to the erratic racing manners of Thrilling Newton on this occasion, the decision was made not to pursue a charge under Rule 322 but instead impose a Satisfactory Trial under Rule 179.1. Mr Hodgson was advised of the factors considered and decision reached accordingly.
