Judicial report: Weather: Overcast. Lorna Mitchell was the relieving Judicial Steward for the race meeting.

Race 4. Following this race, verbal concern was expressed by J.B.Hastie, Trainer (Awesome At Last - 2nd ) and K.Ferris (Handler) as to the distance of the lure in front of the leading greyhound in the home straight. They were of the opinion that it may have been less than five metres at one point. The matter was discussed with lure driver (P.Henley) and the video replay of the race was viewed by the Stipendiary Steward several times. Although the video replays did not provide conclusive lure coverage in the home straight, it was considered that nor did it indicate that the requirements of Rule 304.1 were not met which state that 'it shall be the 'aim' of the lure driver to maintain it at a distance of not less than five metres nor more than seven metres from the leading greyhound'. It was also considered by the Stipendiary Steward that the matter did not effect the result of the race which was agreed with, by Mr Hastie. The margins between 1st and 4th placing were 2 1/2 lgths x 2 1/4 lgths x 1/2 lgth.

Race 1 CAMBRIDGE HURDLES CHAMPIONSHIP - C1/2hf - 457 Aranui Pick, Cawbourne Stewy and Aranui Flash were slow to begin. Destroyer Dottie landed awkwardly after jumping the first hurdle, lost 3 lengths and stayed at the rear throughout. A post race veterinary examination detected severe dehydration requiring immediate treatment and a 14 day stand down from racing under Rule 329. Aranui Pick stumbled after jumping the third hurdle when near the rear. Prince Zidane (favourite) chanced the second to last hurdle and then held it's ground for 4th. Destroyer Dottie (G & S Hayden-Holmes). Severe post race dehydration. Rule 329. 14 days up to and including 20.07.05.
Race 2 MATANGI MAIDEN - C0 - 457 Bonified was slow to begin then came together with Bugsy Malone for a stride on the first turn. Running Tiger moved outwards on the home turn and severely checked itself and Bonified with both losing their chance.
Race 3 WWW.DOGTIPS.NET.NZ DASH - C1 - 375 Stock Broker was scratched. Hypo Lomu (favourite) and Ona Run were slow to begin. Banjo Country and Miamigo came together shortly after the start. Banjo Country moved outwards on the first turn causing Miamigo to stumble, lose 4 lengths and finish last while Banjo Country (4th) continued to run very wide around the bend and lost valuable ground in the process. After a slow start Hypo Lomu was back early, raced up quickly on the rail to be handy and then was tightened and checked by Miss Tracey Lee on the bend before fading in the home straight to finish 6th. Race 4 IMPROVERS FINAL - C1f - 457 Thrilling Fella and Destiny's Run were scratched. Colonel Hogan, Gentle Lee and Awesome At Last were the slowest to begin. Our Freddie (5th) was denied racing room for several strides on the bend and again on the home turn. Awesome At Last was observed to lose momentun for a stride after straightening for the run to the finish. Thrilling Fella ( G.E.Harding). Rule 329. Ex Wanganui GRC 22.06.05. Destiny's Run (S.P.Clark). Rule 259.3. Ex Waikato GRC 23.06.05.
Race 5 RACEWAY DASH - C1/2 - 375 Charlston Flash, Johnnies Luck, Velvot Revolver and Ballibeast were the slowest to begin. Charlston Flash ran outwards on the first turn to a take up a wider running position causing Velvot Revolver (6th) which was racing on it's outer to cover extra ground. Johnnies Luck (winner) was last early then maintained a very strong run along the rail to win well.
Race 6 T.A.B PUMP & AUTOMOTIVE STAKES - C4/5 - 457 Lindale Express, Ash's Assassin and Charlston Ghost came together after 50 mtrs. Fancy Style and Ash's Assassin raced very wide throughout to finish 7th and last respectively.
Race 7 SUPERIOR GREYHOUND FORMULA SPRINT - C3/4 - 375 This race started 1 minute late at the request of TAB Trackside. Jessta Larrikin (4th) was slow to begin. Keenjackaroo went down on it's hind quarters shortly after the start, lost 5 lengths and was always near the rear thereafter. Boss Brentin was reasonably handy early then drifted out in the home straight to finish a distant last.
Race 8 GOBIS REGIONAL FINAL - RESf - 457 Tannochbrae ( 4th) was slow to begin and ran on well. Thrilling May was tightened shortly after the start, lost 4 lengths and recovered well to finish 5th. Flash Shooter was denied racing room on the first turn and ran on strongly for 3rd. Saviola moved inwards to the rail on the bend severely checking itself and Hostile Arch with these two runners filling the last two placings.
Race 9 EDEN PARK STAKES - C1 - 457 Charlston Deal, Miss MacSteele and Baltasar were slowest to begin. Spyridon Louis ran inwards after the start and came together with Just The Don and Thrilling Fynn (favourite). Entering the first turn Miss MacSteele (3rd) endeavoured to move outwards off the rail causing widespread tightening and checks to all runners. At the same time Just The Don (5th) moved inwards causing severe checks to itself and Charlston Deal (7th). Tent Top (4th) moved outwards on the home turn checking Thrilling Fynn (6th) and Charlston Deal.
Race 10 GO THE ALL BLACKS STAKES - C2/3 - 457 This race started 4 minutes late at the request of TAB Trackside. Four Square was slow to begin then moved to the rail on the first turn causing tightening and a check to Fancy Joe (4th). Shooshla and Awesome Enforcer came together shortly after the start with both being checked. Mo Mistress and Awesome Enforcer ran very wide on the home turn and lost ground to finish 7th and 6th respectively.
