Judicial report: Weather: Fine Race 1. Rebel Izmir (B.L.Hood). Disqualified from 5th placing by Judicial Committee under Rule 309 and a Hurdle Satisfactory Trial ordered under Rule 179.1.

Race 4. Following this race the Lure Driver expressed concern about being able to clearly see the lure position on the home turn due to the sun reflecting off the water on the track. This problem was referred to the track maintenance team and the situation improved steadily throughout the afternoon / evening.

Race 9. Following a poor performance by Lichfield Lizzy (D.W.Mathews) a post race veterinary examination was ordered which detected possible severe visual defects and right hind muscular soreness. A stand down from racing for 30 days and further veterinary examination of the eyes including a clearance to race are required. In addition a Satisfactory Trial under Rule 179.1 is required prior to nomination.

Race 15. Following an approach from trainer B.Craik who had two starters in this race, the Judicial Steward granted an exemption to Mr Craik and his associated handler to catch their respective runners themselves. This was endorsed by the Stipendiary Steward as a one -off exemption due to extenuating circumstances involving swabbing.

Race 1 CAMBRIDGE HURDLES CHAMPIONSHIP - HEAT 1 - C1/2hq - 457 Heat 1 Rebel Izmir, Ralph, Pania's Reef and Aranui Jazz came together after the start. Rebel Izmir ran outwards nearing the 2nd hurdle. Pania's Reef also ran outwards nearing the 2nd hurdle, clipped the hurdle wing and fell heavily with Rebel Izmir also jumping the displaced wing and being severely checked by the fallen runner. Rebel Izmir then failed to jump the final two hurdles in the home straight, choosing instead to complete the race by running down the grass verge on the outside of the track. A post race veterinary examination of Pania's Reef detected no injuries while Rebel Izmir was disqualified from 5th placing under Rule 309 and ordered to complete a Hurdle Satisfactory Trial under Rule 179.1. Rebel Izmir (B.L.Hood). Hurdle Satisfactory Trial required prior to nomination under Rule 179.1.
Race 2 CAMBRIDGE HURDLES CHAMPIONSHIP - HEAT 2 - C1/2hq - 457 Heat 1 Miss Cheeky ran outwards prior to the first hurdle tightening Prince Zidane, Aranui Flash and Aranui Mist. Cawbourne Stewy and Aranui Sunrise both clipped the first hurdle and fell heavily. Post race veterinary examinations were ordered which detected no injuries. Iceymore ran outwards and clipped the second hurdle then ran on again for 4th. Kiwi Blue misjudged the second to last hurdle in the home straight and almost fell. A post race veterinary examination was ordered which revealed lacerations to the elbow and shoulder requiring a 10 day stand down from racing. Kiwi Blue (E.A.Huntley). Shoulder and elbow laceration. Rule 329. 10 days up to and including 16.06.05.
Race 3 CAMBRIDGE MAIDEN SPRINT - HEAT 1 - C0q - 375 Heat 1 Classy Breeze, Dyna Toopi and Triway were slow to begin. Classy Breeze raced wide for the majority of the race.
Race 4 CAMBRIDGE MAIDEN SPRINT - HEAT 2 - C0q - 375 Heat 1 Wairangi Bay and Ngapuhi Girl were slow to begin.
Race 5 IMPROVERS STAKES - C1 - 457 Sonny Bill Allen was scratched due to injury. Santo Flex, Roszel Bale and Real Life were slow to begin. Hello Awesome (favourite) raced to the lead and cleared out to win easily. Sonny Bill Allen (A.C.Roberts). Hind pad injury. Vet certificate supplied. Rule 259. 5 days up to and including 09.06.05.
Race 6 CAMBRIDGE MAIDEN SPRINT - HEAT 3 - C0q - 375 Heat 1 Sable Gold was slow to begin and showed little improvement thereafter. Viking Sabre and Sea Drifter came together shortly after the start and were involved in general tightening with Sable Gold nearing the first turn with all three runners being severely checked.
Race 7 CAMBRIDGE MAIDEN SPRINT - HEAT 4 - C0q - 375 Heat 1 Bob Allen was a late scratching on veterinary advice due to persistent coughing pre race. Sable Raeder was slow to begin. Calm Osti was standing up when the box lid opened and missed the start by 5 lengths. Bob Allen (G.N.Pomeroy). Late scratching. Kennel cough. Vet certificate supplied. Rule 259. 14 days up to and including 20.06.05.
Race 8 NOVICE STAKES - C1 - 457 Lika Cruise was slow to begin. In general tightening entering the first turn the entire field with the exception of Lika Cruise and Just The Don (winner) were checked to varying degrees. Lika Cruise and Hostile Girlie came together for a stride on the bend.
Race 9 CAMBRIDGE MAIDEN SPRINT - HEAT 5 - C0q - 375 Heat 1 Nadal was slow to begin, well back early then raced up through the field and won well. Friendly Virus (favourite) ran inwards after the start tightening Lichfield Lizzy and Shanti then shortly after Peach Lover also ran inwards forcing Friendly Virus and Lichfield Lizzy inwards. Following this incident Lichfield Lizzy lost focus and direction eventually running off the track on the bend. A post race veterinary examination detected possible severe visual defects requiring further examination and right hind muscular soreness. These require a 30 day stand down from racing in addition to a Satisfactory Trial under Rule 179.1. Lichfield Lizzy (D.W.Mathews). Vision impairment (severe visual defects) and right hind muscular soreness. Rule 329. 30 days up to and including 06.07.05. plus veterinary certificate with 'fit to race' endorsement which has included an eye examination. A Satisfactory Trial under Rule 179.1 is also required prior to nomination to race.
Race 10 DINSDALE DASH - C1 - 375 Te Puke Gold came across towards the rail on the first turn which tightened and severely checked Queen Rowley and Mr Gulliver which had their chances extinguished.
Race 11 T.A.B PUMP & AUTOMOTIVE STAKES - C2 - 457 Thrilling Dash and Charlston Kid were very slow to begin. Charlston Kid endeavoured to move off the rail entering the first turn and in the resulting interference Thrilling Dash (winner), Rollover Angel and Edna Maycee were inconvenienced and Destiny's Run had it's heels clipped which in turn checked Trendy Time which was racing on Destiny's Run's outer.
Race 12 HAUTAPU SPRINT - C1 - 375 Jimmy Allen (favourite), King Of Dreams, Paddle Foot and Shaka Malawi came together after the start. Wee Amy Leigh (2nd), Maxine's Beauty and Certainly jostled for position nearing and again into the first turn with all three runners receiving checks. Maxine's Beauty ran outwards on the first turn hampering Jimmy Allen.
Race 13 TAMAHERE DASH - C2 - 375 Charlston Flash was scratched due to injury. Velvot Revolver, Camcaff and Winsome Rush were slow to begin then raced in tight quarters momentarily. Charlston Flash (M.J.Lozell). Spiking to right front web. Vet certificate supplied. Rule 259. 7 days up to and including 13.06.05.
Race 14 RAGLAN DASH - C4/5 - 375 This race started 18 minutes late due to an automatic fire alarm requiring evacuation of the grandstand including the race meeting control tower and subsequent inspection of the area by the Fire Brigade. The start times for all remaining races were determined in consultation with TAB Raceday Control. During the pre race parade to the 375 mtr start Hypoumunga was able to become loose due to a faulty clip between the lead and the collar. The greyhound proceeded to walk and jog slowly for approximately 300 mtrs to a point in the back straight where it was caught by a track official. A pre race veterinary examination was conducted at the starting boxes and a 'fit to race' clearance given which was endorsed by the Stipendiary Steward and Judicial Committee. The lead clip malfunction was deemed to be accidental and no further action was taken. Hypoumunga was slow to begin and then commenced a strong wide run around the field for a last stride win. Madam Cholet, Winsome Guy and Max's Millions jostled shortly after the start. More Gold came across sharply towards the rail nearing the first turn causing tightening and subsequent checks to Parra Power, Campbell Bale, Clock Stopper, Max's Millions and Winsome Guy.
Race 15 KARAPIRO SPRINT - C3 - 375 This race started 17 minutes late due to TAB rescheduling. Glenmire (favourite) was slow to begin and never improved thereafter finishing 7th. Heza Scallywag was tightened and checked slightly by Big Sam Junior on the first turn then drifted back to finish last.
Race 16 THOMAS WOOD PHOTOGRAPHY STAKES - C3/4 - 457 This race started 20 minutes late due to TAB rescheduling. Big Teddy Boy was tightened and checked between Rusty Rover and He's Off after 80 mtrs. Shortly after Rusty Rover suffered the same fate between Ash's Assassin and Big Teddy Boy.
