Judicial report: Weather: Fine Race 2. A Judicial Hearing was opened and adjourned into the withdrawal of Homebush Bite and Homebush Tony from this Final for which the above greyhounds had qualified in heats held on 05.04.05. Please refer to Scratching section of this report for further details.

Race 4. Champagne Gypsy was a late scratching on Veterinary advice. Please refer to the Scratching section of this report for further details.

The Club Secretary was advised that several Security Kennel doors have become difficult to close and the response was that repairs would be carried out as soon as possible.

Race 4. Following this race several trainers expressed concern as to the distance of the lure in front of the field during the latter part of the race. The Lure Driver, Judicial Steward and other Track Officials' were questioned in conjunction with replays of the race and it was considered that at no time was the lure outside acceptable operational limits nor create an irregular result of the race.

Race 9. N.P.Green trainer of Stooge was reported by the Head Kennel Steward to be late arriving to undertake pre race preparation procedures. When located Mr Green advised that he had understood that his wife was handling the greyhound for this particular race and that there had obviously been a misunderstanding as to whom was going to undertake the role as designated handler. His explanation was accepted and noted.

Owners, Trainers and Handlers are reminded of Rules 262 and 135.1 which are applicable to the Presentation of greyhounds for kennelling, pre race procedures and swabbing BEFORE the specified time. Please be advised that Rule 262 will be strictly enforced forthwith and the AGRC have agreed to place Notices' to this effect in their office and kennel area.

Race 1 STREETS ICE CREAM DASH - C0 - 318 Mr Flipper missed the start by 6 lengths and then was hampered slightly by Not You when making up ground along the rail, on the bend. Schultz tightened and checked Supreme Rose (favourite) on the rail nearing the first turn. Schultz moved to the rail on the first turn checking Supreme Rose which went backwards quickly, hampering Not You. Lichfield Lizzy and Gentle Lee collided and checked each other on the home turn.
Race 2 COCA-COLA MAIDEN STAKES FINAL - C0f - 527 Bonified, Thrilling Guy, Harmoneyes, Hove Dale and Charlston Deal were all slow to begin then all of these runners with the exception of Charlston Deal came together after 20 mtrs. Entering the back straight Charlston Deal galloped on the heels of and severely checked Bonified causing that runner to run outwards sharply then look at and hamper Running Tiger which was racing on it's outer at the time. There was no 'head on' video coverage available of this incident nor was it reported by the Track Stewards. A post race Veterinary examination was ordered by and conducted in the presence of the Stipendiary Steward and this detected an injury requiring a 10 day stand down from racing. No further action was considered appropriate given the circumstances however part-trainer L.Craik was advised that this greyhound's racing manners will be closely monitored in the immediate future. Bonified ran outwards on the home turn and lost ground at a vital stage of the race. Homebush Bite (J.T.McInerney). Withdrawn from this Race Final prior to the box draw (qualified by finishing 3rd in heat held on 05.04.05 ). No reason or Vet certificate supplied.This greyhound competed at the Southland GRC meeting held today. A Judicial Hearing into a possible breach of Rule 256(a) has been opened and adjourned with the AGRC Judicial Committee. Homebush Tony (J.T.McInerney). Withdrawn as a reserve from this Race Final prior to the box draw (qualified by finishing 5th in heat held on 05.04.05) and outside 48 hour 100km dispensation. No reason or Vet certificate supplied.This greyhound competed at the Southland GRC meeting held today. A Judicial Hearing into a possible breach of Rule 256(a) has been opened and adjourned with the AGRC Judicial Committee. Bonified (B & L Craik). Near side shoulder joint soreness. This Veterinary examination was conducted in the presence of the Stipendiary Steward. Rule 329. 10 days up to and including 23.04.05.
Race 3 ROYAL WOLF CONTAINERS SPRINT - FINAL - C1f - 318 Leslies Pearl, He's Off and Velvet Revolver were slow to begin. Velvot Revolver and Rock It Hound came together after 60 mtrs with the former being checked. He's Off moved to the rail after 70 mtrs checking Leslies Pearl before moving outward forcing Velvot Revolver over extra ground.
Race 4 ROTARY CLUB AUCKLAND DASH - C1 - 318 Champagne Gypsy was a late scratching on Veterinary advice. Shaka Malawi and Dr Dal Santo were slow to begin. Shaka Malawi and Hurricane Hove collided twice on the first turn with the former being severely checked. Champagne Gypsy (F.D.Farmer). Late scratching on Veterinary advice. Rule 245. Veterinary certificate / clearance and a subsequent NZGRA clearance required prior to being nominated to race.
Race 5 CAROLS TAB STAKES - C1 - 527 Full Force Gale, Hopplar and Thrilling Cleo were slow to begin. Junior Rhode moved inwards after the start checking Thrilling Cleo and Destiny's Run. There was general tightening in the rear group on the final bend with Destiny's Run being checked.
Race 6 ELECTROPAR DASH - C1 - 318 Number One Gun missed the start by 4 lengths and made up ground strongly for 4th. Maxine's Beauty and Tempest Wyn came together after 80 mtrs with the latter being severely checked and never recovering to finish at the rear. Jolly Buffy moved outwards across the heels of Togetherness on the first turn losing ground and momentum in the process. No Invitation (S.P.Clark). 30 days stand down ex Waikato GRC meeting on 14.04.05.
Race 7 ULTRA OFFICE DASH - C1/2 - 318 Just The Don and Flying Tuskey came together after 20 mtrs with the former being checked. Black Tyler and Stock Broker came together on the first turn with both runners being severely checked. Black Tyler began well, was handy early, drifted on the first turn, then tightened and checked between Flying Tuskey and Stock Broker and dropped out to finish at the rear. Flying Tuskey ran outwards on the home turn and forced Stock Broker and Just The Don to cover extra ground at a vital stage of the race. No Invitation (S.P.Clark). Refer Race 6. Don Paulie (N.P.Green). Treated for nervous exhaustion. Rule 329. 8 days up to and including 21.04.05.
Race 8 PLUMBING WORLD STAKES - C2/3 - 527 Den Of Fire was slow to begin. General tightening after the start involved all runners with the exception of Trendy Time and Den Of Fire. Dark Sensation and Charlston Ghost came together nearing the first turn with the former being checked.
Race 9 MERLYNE HUDSON-OWEN DASH - C1/2 - 318 Stooge and Supreme Paragon missed the start slightly. As a result of general tightening between the start and first turn Sue Van Gill, Boot's Last, Peter Hand, Just Hasty and Junior time received checks. Just Hasty ran wide on the first turn and carted Just Curly wider with both losing valuable ground and filling the last two placings.
Race 10 RADIO PACIFIC DASH - C4/5 - 318 Little Toot was observed and reported to be difficult to box. Little Toot and Kiwi Fire were slow to begin. Rhani Reason moved inwards after 80 mtrs tightening Little Toot onto the running rail which severely checked that runner and caused it to lose all chance and finish 7th. Radford Reason ran outwards on the first turn forcing Just Too Hot and Kiwi Fire to take evasive action by running very wide. Radford Reason and Just Too Hot then came together on the bend with both being severely checked. Radford Reason was then tightened between Jessta Larrikin and Just Too Hot on the bend with Radford Reason being checked again and losing ground to finish 6th.
