Judicial report: Weather: Fine The Official Judge for the race meeting did not attend and had not notified the club of any intention not to attend. The Club was requested to provide a written report to the Stipendiary Steward as to the reason for his non- attendance. This has now been received and the matter will be discussed with the Mr P.Wells at the next race meeting of the Waikato GRC on 04.03.05.
The Judge's duties were undertaken by Mr H. Scott following Race 1 with assistance from the Photo Finish operator and Stipendiary Steward. Mr Scott's efforts along with those of all Raceday Officials, Handlers and TAB Control were appreciated in what were unfortunate and challenging circumstances throughout the race meeting.
Northern Digital provided the Photo Finish operation on a relieving basis for the race meeting.
All races were hand-timed due to the electronic timing malfunction.
All races from Race 4 onwards were manually started due to the starting boxes triggering mechanism malfunction.
The starting boxes at the 375mtr starting point were manually closed in Races 8 and 9 due to the hydraulic malfunction.
The host club, the Waikato and Districts GRC has advised that a thorough investigation into the problems encountered will commence immediately and the necessary repairs and testing completed in time for their race meeting to be held on 04.03.05.
Race 8. Trainer B.Craik was questioned in relation to not providing a catcher for Winsome Dot in this event and consequently a warning was given and noted.

Race 1 TUX TOKOROA DISTANCE - C1d - 630 Mintie Moment was scratched due to injury. Top Allegro was a late scratching due to injury. This race started 3 minutes late due an electronic timing malfunction and consequently the race was hand timed. Inaha Hine ran inwards after the start which tightened and checked Lika Cruise and Justa Toff. Justa Toff started to drift after 60mtrs and made no improvement thereafter finishing a long last. This runner was ordered to undergo a Veterinary examination which detected no injury. Inaha Hine was ordered to undergo a post race Veterinary examination which detected an injury requiring a 10 day stand down from racing. Mintie Moment (T.McGillivray). Accessory carpel pain on near front carpus. Vet certificate supplied. Rule 259. 28 days up to and including 20.03.05. Top Allegro (D.W.Mathews). Late scratching. Partial dislocation of toe on off front foreleg. Vet certificate supplied. Rule 259. 14 days up to and including 08.03.05. Inaha Hine (A.J.Cobain). Dislocated toe and swelling. Rule 329. 10 days up to and including 04.03.05.
Race 2 POCKETS 8 BALL TOKOROA STAKES - C1 - 457 This race started 2 minutes late due to efforts to try and fix a continuing electronic timing malfunction. Gungullin ran inwards after the start causing checks to Charlston State, Goodtime Den and Mystery Ellie. Inside Blue ran inwards after the start which hampered King Of Dreams. Bit Of Grit and Inside Blue came together nearing the first turn. Charlston State ran outwards nearing the first turn and hampered Smooth Harry and Inside Blue. Inside Blue ran inwards to the rail on the first turn and severely checked Bit Of Grit which never recovered finishing last. Charlston State was checked slightly on the home turn.
Race 3 TODD MCPHEE CRANE HIRE JUVENILE - JUV - 375 This race started 1 minute late due to previous delays. Best Tell Pie stumbled badly on leaving the boxes, lost it's balance and caused severe checks to Charlston Time and Ashbourne Boss. Best Tell Pie recovered well from the incident to finish strongly for 3rd. Charlston Flash galloped on the heels of Homebush Coyote on the first turn which caused checks to both runners.
Race 4 SHOTZ POOL LOUNGE TOKOROA STAKES - C2 - 457 The boxes did not open for this race due to them not being triggered by the lure at the starting point. The runners were removed from the boxes and a test conducted on the lure / triggering mechanism which resulted in the same malfunction occurring. The decision was made to manually start the race and it was rerun 8 minutes later than the scheduled time. Prior to reboxing the field, the Starter and handler reported that Goldfinger Jewel was lame and therefore the handler of this runner was asked by the Stipendiary Steward, via the Starter, if it was her preference to withdraw the greyhound. The answer was affirmative and permission was granted for the late scratching under Rule 305.3. A Veterinary examination was ordered and detected an injury requiring a 3 day stand down from racing. Devious Josh jumped awkwardly at the start otherwise the race was all clear. Goldfinger Jewel (G.C.Farrell). Late scratching. Temporary neurititis over the distal radius and seeping off old wound. Vet certificate supplied. Rule 259. 3 days up to and including 25.02.05.
Race 5 FARMLANDS TOKOROA JUVENILE - JUV - 375 Prior to this race the decision was made to manually start all remaining races on the programme as the electrical problems were to serious to be repaired during the race meeting. This race started at the scheduled time as did all remaining races 6 - 10. Charlston Kid missed the start by 4 lengths and made up a lot of ground to finish 4th. Aranui Gold and Homebush Dasher came together after the start. Best Tell Rose and Homebush Dasher collided on the bend with both suffering checks.
Race 6 TOKOROA NEW WORLD STAKES - C4 - 457 Homebush Lump, Paua An Atom and Radford Reason came together after the start. Silk Ripple drifted on the first turn and never improved thereafter finishing last. Paua An Atom moved outwards on the home turn which hampered Radford Reason slightly.
Race 7 VETPRO DASH - C2 - 375 Ina Tizzy was scratched due to injury. Tartare Sauce and Sheza Zinger were tightened after the start. Sharpshooter moved inwards to the rail on the first turn which caused Sheza Zinger to be tightened and checked. Ina Tizzy (G.C.Farrell). Sloughing of tailhead wound, soreness and bruising around upper pelvis. Vet certificate supplied. Rule 259. 10 days up to and including 28.02.05.
Race 8 TOKOROA & DISTRICTS VET ASSOCIATION DASH - C4 - 375 The Starter reported that the hydraulic opening and closing mechanism on the boxes was not working and the decision was made to close the boxes manually for all remaining races from the 375mtr starting point. Aston Superstar and Muscovy were slow to begin. Hostile Arch ran inwards at the start checking Winsome Dot. Hostile Arch, Allegro Comet, Jessta Larrikin and Ceejay's Magic raced in tight quarters on the first turn with all receiving checks. Winsome Dot and Muscovy came together for a stride on the first turn.
Race 9 BILLS SEAFOOD & STEAK DINER KIHIKIHI DASH - C4/5 - 375 Winsome Molly was scratched due to injury. Little Toot was scratched due to injury. More Gold the second favourite was slow to begin. Tarara Ape ran inwards at the start hampering Jodaman. Tarara Ape was tightened on the first turn, then drifted to finish last. Winsome Molly (N.T.Udy). Strained right supraspinatus muscle on near front leg. Vet certificate supplied. Rule 259. 10 days up to and including 28.02.05. Little Toot (K.E.Lomas). Bruised gracillus. No Vet certificate supplied. Rule 259.3. 30 days up to and including 22.03.05.
Race 10 SOUTH WAIKATO CUP - C5 - 457 Idol Appeal was scratched due to injury. Westar Storm and Falcon Flex came together at the start with Falcon Flex being checked. Kane Bale and Classic Flyer came together nearing the home turn. While vying for the lead on the first turn Homebush Brian bumped the hind quarters of My Rocky and fell heavily. Homebush Brian was ordered to undergo a Veterinary examination which detected no injury. Idol Appeal (D.van Meeuwen). Muscle injury to off front shoulder. Vet certificate supplied. Rule 259. 10 days up to and including 01.03.05.
