Judicial report: Weather: Overcast Race 1. A hearing was opened after Race 10 before N.McGough, Judicial Committee, Auckland GRC, to consider a charge laid under Rule 322.1(b) by the Stipendiary Steward against the greyhound 'Nikkei' trained by B & L Craik.
The charge was defended by the Trainers'.
Evidence was presented by both the Stipendiary Steward and B.Craik the Joint-Trainer.
The decision of the Judicial Committee was to uphold the charge and and therefore impose an automatic period of suspension under Rule 322.2(b) as it is the second offence. This penalty is in addition to Rule 179.1 (Satisfactory Trial) which has also been applied at the discretion of the Stipendiary Steward.
Race 6. When attempting to reposition the lure carriage to it's starting point for the 318mtr start the lure did not respond to the lure driver's efforts. The AGRC maintenance team and Raceday Officials were quickly on the scene and determined the cause. A nut had fallen off one of the cog wheels on the lure carriage. The fault was repaired and the lure tested successfully. Those involved are complimented on their excellent effort in rectifying the problem so quickly.

Race 1 STREETS ICECREAM DASH - C0 - 318 Robertalan, First Sample and Leslies Pearl buffeted each other after the start. Queen Rowley and Smart Mover came together after the start. Queen Rowley, Robertalan and First Sample came together on the bend. Nikkei went to the lead, lost focus in the home straight and looked around, eased in it's stride losing momentum and then refocused to win. A Veterinary examination was ordered which revealed no injury.
Race 2 RADIO PACIFIC MAIDEN STAKES FINAL - C0f - 527 The boxing manners of Justa Half Pint were monitored and considered satifactory. Booming Time missed the start by 2 lengths. Legal Edition moved inwards on the first turn checking Justa Half Pint which then also moved inwards hampering Booming Time, Rythmic Finale and He's A Blur.
Race 3 ROYAL WOLF CONTAINERS DASH - C1 - 318 Bedas Boy was boxed first due to a current 'hard to box' categorisation and was monitored by the Starter and Stipendiary Steward. They considered the categorisation to be appropriate at this time. Storm Edition and Grasscutter Bob were slow to begin. King Of Dreams and Jolly Buffy jostled each other for the length of the back straight. King Of Dreams pushed Jolly Buffy outwards on the first turn which resulted in the latter being severely checked and rebounded onto Grasscutter Bob which was also checked along with Forever Running. Bedas Boy moved to the rail on the first turn checking Number One Gun in the process. Grasscutter Bob clipped the heels of King Of Dreams on the bend with both runners with both being checked as the the result. Forever Running was inconvenienced in this incident.
Race 4 CAROL'S TAB SPRINT FINAL - C1f - 318 Our Polar ran out on the first turn, collided with Mo Mistress which in turn hampered Dr Dal Santo. Jack Rhode ran out across the heels of Ina Tizzy on the bend checking that runner then ran out further checking Rawhiti Rogue. Mo Mistress and Jack Rhode came together on the home turn.
Race 5 JIMBOS PETFOOD STAKES - C1 - 527 Mister Jaybee was slow to begin. Bannister Lad reared as the boxes opened and lost 2 lengths. Splicklez raced wide throughout and ran on at the finish.
Race 6 MEADOWSET GRAPHICS DASH - C2 - 318 This race was delayed 5 minutes due to a lure malfunction caused by a nut falling off a wheel on the lure carriage. The problem was detected when endeavouring to reposition the lure to it's starting point. Junior Time and Flying Tuskey were slow to begin. My Journey and Sonny Boy Jones came together after the start. Sonny Boy Jones endeavoured to run out on the first turn severely checking Poetical which in turn severely checked Junior Time and Flying Tuskey.
Race 7 TINT A CAR DASH - C2/3 - 318 This race started 4 minutes late due to the delay in the previous race. Jeepers, Dudley Dersley and Lucky Lipinski came together on the first turn. Sue Van Gill ran outwards on the home turn severely checking Osbourne.
Race 8 CATERING PROFESSIONALS STAKES - C2 - 527 Harvard World was slow to begin. Den Of Fire clipped the heels of Lil Energiser on the first bend with both runners being checked.
Race 9 COCA COLA DASH - C4/5 - 318 The boxing manners of Kiwi Fire were monitored and considered satisfactory. More Gold and Kiwi Fire were slow to begin. Blue Paragon ran inwards after the start which tightened Wild Seattle, China's Fire, Effervescence, Thelma Bale and Kiwi Fire. More Gold clipped the heels of Blue Paragon into the first turn and lost 2 lengths. Dark Lagoon led early then drifted quickly on the bend, went to rear and never improved thereafter. A Veterinary examination was ordered which revealed injuries requiring a 14 day stand down from racing. Dark Lagoon (Walsh / Charters). Right hip support tear with soreness and gluteal soreness. Rule 329. 14 days up to and including 30.12.04.
Race 10 DENNY'S STAKES - C3/4 - 527 Shining Comet, Rialto Reason and Gozo Reg were all slow to begin. Bibiana Bale was tightened and checked between Rivette Reason and Fossil on the first turn resulting in Bibiana Bale also colliding with Rialto Reason which was checked. Mean Tyler was forced wide in this incident.
