Race 2 | WELLINGTON OAKS - HEAT 1 - R/Aq - 525 Heat 1 | EMILIE ONE and ACCORD collided on the first corner and lost some ground and they never recovered, finishing well back. |
Race 3 | WELLINGTON OAKS - HEAT 2 - R/Aq - 525 Heat 1 | TOKEN KIWI was very slow away and settled last. MULBERRY CHELLE, FRAU DAGMA, DISCLOSE and ASTRAKHAN were all severely checked on the first corner and FRAU DAGMA fell but was not injured. The other three filled the last three places. |
Race 4 | WELLINGTON DERBY - HEAT 2 - R/Aq - 525 Heat 1 | Tightening on the first corner resulted in checks to THRILLING PAUL and MANAWA NUI with MANAWA NUI being the most affected and he dropped back to last. CHOPPER'S HAND moved in on the home turn and checked DUSTY'S DIAMOND who lost ground and finished well back. |
Race 5 | SPICERS PAPER DASH - C2/3 - 295 | NOVEMBER BEAR and FERRIS BALE collided on the first corner and dropped back to the rear and never recovered. BOY RACER and HOMEBUSH BRIAN collided on the home turn. They lost momentum and finished well back. |

Race 7 | ACCSYS FOR QUICKBOOKS - C4 - 525 | One of the favourites FULL TITLE was handy going into the first corner but was checked and pushed out twice on the first bend, went back to last and never recovered. |

Race 9 | EMPIRE HOTEL - PETONE - C4 - 295 | MORE GOLD was scratched due to a shoulder injury. There was a false start when the box lids opened prior to the arrival of the lure. The lure was stopped quickly and all runners were captured, checked by the vet and cleared to race. The box opening mechanism was checked over and the race was restarted 7 minutes late but the lids again opened slightly prematurely but the lure was kept going and the race proceeded to the end. However, the replays clearly showed that several runners were affected by the lids opening early and under Rule 305 (2) the race was abandoned.
