Judicial report: Weather: Fine The inquiry under Rule 280 in respect of trainer PB Freeman and his dog SEASPRAY FOLLY adjourned at the Southland GRC meeting on 15 October 2004 was reconvened, with a fine of $25.00 imposed for the breach of the rule.
An inquiry was opened and adjourned under Rule 135.1 in respect of the dress of handler T Cairns, the handler of Clan Ebony, a starter in Race 5.

Race 1 CANTERBURY DRAUGHT SIX PACK - C3 - 520 SEPTEMBER STORM was slow to jump settling last before improving down the back finishing fifth. ASTRA NOMACOOL and LOCHINVAR FIRE raced wide at the rear filling the last two places.
Race 2 KOLORFUL KANVAS SPRINT - C2/3 - 295 COBBITTY GIRL was tightened into the first bend when vying for the lead, coming back and checking MELTING POT and HOMEBUSH STEVE, with CONSENT running wide to avoid the skirmish. They never recovered filling the last four places.
Race 3 LAMB & HAYWARD SPRINT - C4 - 295 Soon after the jump MISTER TRICK struck the hindquarters of LOCHINVAR RHETT drifting through the field. Soon after MARCUS BALE, BOSSY ACE, JESSE JOHN and WHATA TEX came together losing all chance.
Race 4 FLAIR STAKES - C4/5 - 520 OZZIE RHODE was slow to jump from the outside box settling last, running on over the concluding stages for fourth. Into the first bend HAWKSWELL BALE and EBONY TOKEN were checked losing ground finishing at the rear. CARDIOGRAM (ACRoberts) injury to left fore carpal bone. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 259. 10 days up to and including 18 November 2004.
Race 5 CANTERBURY TELEVISION BITCHES CLASSIQUE - R/A - 520 TUDOR QUEEN was tightened soon after the start, settling last, never improving during the running. Into the first bend DISCLOSE and THRILLING MAY came together jostling for a number of strides and colliding with CLAN EBONY. All three finished near the rear.
Race 6 NUTRI-ZING SPRINT - C5 - 295 Into the first bend ROTKARA BOMBER struck the hindquarters of GARLAND GREEN both dogs losing all chance finishing at the rear. Into the home straight MILANION ran wide taking GILBERT BALE with him, both dogs chances being extinguished as a result. They finished midfield. GATH BALE jumped to a clear lead from the boxes to run away and will easily. Both MILANION and ROTKARA BOMBER were checked by the club veterinarian who detected no injury. Trainer JF Allen was shown the race film and he advised that the dog had been treated for a pencil muscle injury. which may have contributed to MILANION running outwards. He was to have the dog examined by a veterinarian prior to racing again. CORDU BALE (AC Roberts) skin wound to right shoulder. Veterinary certificate. Rule 259. 10 days up to and including 19 November 2004.
Race 7 THE SOUTHERN TRUST 2004 NEW ZEALAND CUP - C5f - 520 Into the first bend ROMBERG REASON, TOKENISM, DABYNE PRINCE and CATCH ME SOON were checked losing all chance. ROMBERG REASON and CATCH ME SOON ran on strongly over the concluding stages to finish midfield. FASHION THIEF went to the lead into the first bend leading until the concluding stages before being run down by CAWBOURNE PAT and SLENDER MAREE.
Race 8 INDEPENDENT CARPETS CRANFORD DOGS CLASSIC - R/A - 520 Into the first bend ORPHAN ASSASSIN and TRINITY ROCKET jostled for a number of strides losing all chance finishing at the rear with MULBERRY FLASH who settled second before being tightened by an improving DANCING BANSHEE across the top.
Race 9 GEORGE CALVERT CLEANERS GALAXY - C5f - 295 SPOTTED HAND and JACK FRANCES were tightened into the first bend losing all chance. HAWK DREAMER and BLACK ALLEGRO were slow to jump finishing at the rear.
Race 10 DAVID EMERSON CONSULTANCY - C2 - 520 BROKEN TITLE was tightened soon after the jump settling last never improving in the running. FOLLOW THE TREND ran outwards around the first bend, running on strongly for third. Into the back straight POWERFAST PATCH checked out of the hindquarters of PAUA AN ATOM drifting out to finish near the rear. RAILROAD WARRIOR ((MJ Flipp) was a late scratching mid afternoon when found with a right fore toe laceration. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 259. 10 days up to and including 20 November 2004.
Race 11 CONTAINERS DIRECT INTERTRADE 2004 SOCKBURN CUP - C2d - 732 ROZEL BALE drifted to the rear after the jump finishing sixth. Into the home straight the first time SKIPPER RIP faultered when racing outside ICE FERN, pulling up. When checked by the club veterinarian he was found to have a fractured right hock with a stand down of 30 days recommended. SKIPPER RIP (P&L Henley) Rule 329. 30 days up to and including 10 December 2004.
Race 12 PEDIGREE ADVANCE SPRINT - C2/3 - 295 HOMEBUSH MICK and JESSTA LARAKIN were slow to jump settling at the rear. HOMEBUSH MICK finished seventh with JESSTA LARRIKIN moving wide around the field to finish strongly in the straight to win most impressively.
