Judicial report: Weather: Fine The inquiry adjourned at the meeting on 12 October 2004 was reconvened with trainer GA Cleeve pleading not guilty to a charge under Rule 322 (1)(b) in respect of WAVE THE FERN. After viewing the race film and hearing from Cleeve, the charge was found proven with WAVE THE FERN stood down for one month up to and including 10 November 2004, and to undertake a satisfactory trial in accordance with Rule 179.

Race 1 PEDIGREE ADVANCE STAKES - C2 - 520 TO LIVE BY was very slow to jump from the outside box, running on over the concluding stages for fourth. HERE'S FREDDIE drifted after the jump but railed around the first bend and into the back straight, to challenge strongly finishing second. DR NOAKES was tightened into the first corner running on for third. The favourite SPARKLING LIGHTS who challenged for the lead into the first corner settled third down the back before drifting out to finish near the rear. He was swabbed as a result. HUGH DAGG (AH Lee) right wrist sprain. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 259. 14 days up to and including 29 October 2004. WILLY WHAT (J&D Fahey) was a late scratching at kennelling when found with a temperature. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 259. 5 days up to and including 24 October 2004.
Race 2 R.ADCOCK/P.HOPPING SPRINT - C2 - 295 DICTATION and HOMEBUSH OPAL were slow to jump. The favourite GREEN MILE was checked by MELTING POT as he drove to the lead, GREEN MILE drifting out to finish last. A veterinary check revealed nothing amiss. MELTING POT ran on to win well with HOMEBUSH OPAL finishing strongly for third. LIGHT FROST and HOMEBUSH SHADOW ran wide around the bend finishing near the rear with DICTATION.
Race 3 TIP THE WINK SPRINT - C3 - 295 The short priced favourite AWESOME ASTON drove to the lead before the first corner before running wide around the bend drifting out to finish near the rear. A veterinary check revealed a fractured right hind metatarscal with a 30 day stand down recommended. Into the first bend HOMEBUSH FRANK and HOMEBUSH WILLY came together losing ground , HOMEBUSH WILLY running on for fourth with HOMEBUSH finishing at the rear. Race 4 TOKEN PRINCE DISTANCE FEATURE - C1d - 732 KELLBRETT PRINCE settled second before drifting out entering the back straight to finish a long last. A veterinary check revealed a torn right hind gracilus muscle with a 30 day stand down recommended. KELLBRETT PRINCE (M&J Jopson) Rule 329. 30 days up to and including 18 November 2004.
Race 5 NUTRI-ZING PICK SIX STAKES - C3/4 - 520 Into the first bend KANE BALE, MUSCOVY and RANDOM HARVEST came together when vying for the lead, RANDOM HARVEST drifting out to finish near the rear. KANE BALE ran away to win easily with MUSCOVY being run down near the post to finish fourth. ATTORNEY GENERAL was slow to jump settling last before finishing strongly in the straight for third. INSIDE COVER (J&D Fahey) diarrhoea. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 259. 10 days up to and including 28 October 2004. KERCHAK (JT McInerney) was a late scratching at kennelling with a torn right fore toenail. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 259. 10 days up to and including 29 October 2004.
Race 6 JOHN McINERNEY SPRINT - C5 - 295 GUNADOO LASS broke down into the first bend coming back through the field before being struck by ROTKARA BOMBER with a check to OLD MONARO. GUNADOO LASS fell and took no further aprt in the event. The favourite GILBERT BALE was slow to jump improving wide and finishing strongly in the straight for second. HAILSTONE HEAVEN drove to a clear lead before being run down in the straight to finish third. GUNNADOO LASS was examined by the club veterinarian and found to have a fractured right hock with a 30 day stand down recommended. ROTKARA BOMBER was also examined with no injury detected. CORDU BALE (AC Roberts) wrist sprain. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 259. 10 days up to and including 27 October 2004. GUNNADOO LASS (BC Dann) Rule 329. 30 days up to and including 18 November 2004.
Race 7 CANTERBURY GREYHOUND OF THE YEAR STAKES - C2 - 520 EBONY DELUXE was slow to jump finishing near the rear. SWEET RAIDER raced outside the leaders around the bend before drifting out to finish last. A veterinary check revealed nothing amiss.
Race 8 APACHE LODGE JUVENILE - FINAL - R/Af - 520 Into the first bend ORPHAN ASSASSIN checked out off the hindquarters of DISCLOSE as she drove to the lead, forcing TUDOR QUEEN wide. LIGHT POCKETS and OLE DARK settled at the rear coming together in the back straight losing ground. LIGHT POCKETS finished strongly in the straight for fourth with OLE DARK finishing near the rear.
Race 9 TRACKSIDE DINING PH(03) 338-6145 SPRINT - C4 - 295 CONSENT and NOVEMBER BEAR dwelt at the start settling at the rear. Into the first bend WHATA TEX, KING LOUIS, and YORKED AGAIN were tightened losing ground with CONSENT and NOVEMBER BEAR running wide. These five dogs lost all chance.
Race 10 CANTERBURY DRAUGHT SIX PACK - C3 - 520 DR ABERNATHY jumped to the lead from the boxes running away to win easily. LOCHINVAR FIRE was slow to jump improving during the running to finish second. HOMEBUSH BILL and ACE OF SPIES came together into the back straight when at the rear, ACE OF SPIES finishing midfield with HOMEBUSH BILL last. WINSOME KNIGHT (AC Roberts) sesamoid injury.
