Soon after, KOJAZZ ran out and jostled DEVIOUS JOSH and TEMPEST REIGN with DEVIOUS JOSH going back to the rear. He recovered well to run on for 4th placing. WAIWERATAI was checked at the start and was back and wide on the first corner. He was then forced to race wide on the bend and eventually finished in last place. |
| Race 2 | TXT4TIPS (M10 R? 8477) - C1 - 297 | The last start winner DURAN PHOENIX was slow away and was then checked on the first corner when BUSTER KEATON moved out and bumped him. DURAN PHOENIX dropped back after the incident and finished last. One of the favourites ME AND MARTY was also slow to begin and settled last. He only battled in the straight and finished mid-field. |
| Race 3 | BRYCE FRANICS GRAPHICS - C2 - 505 | SEASPRAY PADERO was scratched due to suffering from enteritis. CLAIRE EYES was checked on the first bend and moved out and collided with ASTRO NERONE. They lost several lengths but recovered well to finish 2nd and 3rd. Two of the favourites TURBO ROYALE and NESSIE'S CHARM disputed the pace early on but they faded in the straight to finish well back. | Race 4 | UPPER HUTT COSSIE CLUB - C2 - 297 | ROCKING QUEEN was the slowest away then made a strong forward move but ran wide on the bend and lost ground. She eventually finished near the rear after covering extra ground. The winner of her last two starts MADAM CHOLET was awkwardly placed from box five and settled well back and stayed there. |

SEASPRAY BEST led to the first corner but then dropped away quickly and finished a long last. The vets examination revealed a gracilus muscle injury and a stand down of 14 days was imposed. GAZZA'S BEAUTY Trainer V.Jackson Rule 259 Suffering from a carpal bone injury and stood down for 14 dsays to and including 08.10.04. She then made up ground well to finish in 3rd place. RAGTIME REASON ran out at the start and checked JUST LIKE THAT who settled in last place and stayed there throughout. The vets inspection revealed a leg injury and a 14 day stand down was imposed. One of the favourites GIN GINGER CAPP was handy into the first corner but was checked, lost several lengths and any chance of a placing. The video confirmed that the dog was racing free of interferance when the injury occurred. DIPPENAAR suffered a serious hock injury and was euthanased by the Veterinarian. FIELDS O'ATHENRY was checked on the first corner, dropped back to the rear and stayed there. DIPPENAAR Trainer B.Atwood Rule 329 Suffered a fractured hock and euthanased. |
