Judicial report: Weather: Overcast and showery At kennelling trainer S Mann, trainer of TIPPY SOPRANO in Race 1 advised that he had not received the registration papers from the Association office after having forwarded them for a change of ownership to be completed. He said he had been advised by office staff that a faxed copy would be sent to the Auckland Club in time for the meeting on Sunday 8 August 2004.
This had not arrived and following consultation with the various parties the decision was made to allow the dog to start in Race 1. Mr Mann was advised that the matter would be pursued with the Association office based on the information he had provided.
The ear brands of TIPPY SOPRANO 126 Z27 was recorded as were markings. The dog had previously been owned by DC Fahey and J Holdem and trained by Fahey.

Race 1 MEADOWSET GRAPHICS MAIDEN SPRINT FINAL - C0f - 318 TIPPY SOPRANO the favourite began well but drifted to finish seventh. KING OF DREAMS raced handy to the leader and winner DR DEL SANTO throughout and fought on well.
Race 2 STREETS ICE CREAM STAKES - C1 - 527 NEVER HOME left the rail sharply after 50m in order to take up a wide position colliding with HARVARD WORLD which in turn pushed SHAKA MALAWI wide. This interference caused all three runners to lose their chance. NEVER HOME was inspected by the Club Veterinarian and a right foreleg tendon strain was detected resulting in a 10 day stand down. AMUSEMENT the favourite raced very wide until the first bend and made no ground thereafter. CHARMAINE BALE went to a clear lead early and won easily. STALLONE was tightened soon after the start by BART'S LAST and AMUSEMENT and almost fell. NEVER HOME (T McGillivray) Rule 329. Right foreleg flexor tendon strain. Stood down for 10 days up to and including 17 August 2004. (Papers yet to be endorsed)
Race 3 JIMBO'S PETFOOD DASH - C1 - 318 SATARA was scratched due to being in season. INDIA was scratched after being stood down at the Waikato GRC meeting on 6 August 2004. DR ADONIS was slow to begin and never improved there after to finish seventh. DISSIPATE ran wide after 30m checking RIKKILEE KIWI which in turn forced PETER HAND to cover extra ground. PETER HAND recovered well to finish third. TOP DRAWER ran out nearing the bend checking the favourite WINSOME DOT which collided with DISSIPATE causing the latter to stumble and lose all chance finishing last. This incident also caused further inconvenience to RIKKILEE KIWI. LADY DOLLY the winner was clear from the start and held out the fast finishing OPENING TIME to win by a nose. INDIA (SM Wright) ex Waikato GRC on 6 August 2004. SATARA (W Steele) Rule 258. Scratched due to seasonal condition. Stood down for 30 days up to and including 5 September 2004.
Race 4 CAROL'S TAB DASH - C2 - 318 GRASSCUTTER BOB was slow and wide early, never improving to finish seventh. FAITHFUL BART was tightened after 100m by MARRICK MAID and LUCKY LUPINSKI never recovered to finish last. POETICAL ran out on the home turn severely checking PRAIRIE FIRE and MISS TRACEY LEE. POETICAL regained momentum to finish third.
Race 5 BELLBIRD ARMS FINAL - C1f - 527 MASONRY was slightly checked at the start and never improved finishing last. KELLBRETT PRINCE had no racing room early and was always at the rear finishing seventh. The favourite WINSOME RUSH was wide early before forging to the lead to clear out and win. SALLY'S DELIGHT led early and battled on to finish fifth. THIS TIME BOOTS began awkwardly before racing up into the leading bunch and fought on well for third. BANNISTER LAD was forced wide and showed little improvement thereafter to finish sixth.
Race 6 RADIO PACIFIC DASH - C2 - 318 OSBOURNE was scratched due to kennel cough. MISS TIBET was tightened from room after 30m and lost 4 lengths. SMOKIN' TIME was severely checked and lost 6 lengths, never recovering. BLACK TYLER charged to lead after 70m and kept up a strong run to win well. ROBUST ROCK the favourite began fast to be near the lead and enjoyed a clear rails run until the bend when he moved off the rail causing SMOKIN' TIME to be checked. ROBUST ROCK rallied to finish third. OSBOURNE (JB Hastie) Rule 259. Kennel cough. Stood down for 10 days up to and including 17 August 2004.
Race 7 ROYAL WOLF CONTAINERS STAKES - C2/3 - 527 RIALTO REASON missed the start, moving to the rail before moving off to come around KELLBRETT JEMMA to win decisively. KELLBRETT JEMMA went to an early lead , was still there to the home bend before being run down to finish second. MEAN TYLER began well and was denied racing room between CORUBA STORM and MELISSA BALE before drifting out to finish seventh. MELISSA BALE clipped the hindquarters of MEAN TYLER on the first bend, losing several lengths, finishing last. YALLAH EBONY was slow out, moved to the rail on the first bend, settling fifth down the back straight, showing speed to race up on the final bend before being hampered by a tiring GOZO REG, eventually finishing fourth.
Race 8 COMMERCIAL PLUMBING STAKES - C4/5 - 527 DR BERTRAM was slow but improved along the rails and ran on strongly to finish second. COSMIC ECLIPSE received a slight check on the first bend when near the lead, finishing fourth. PILLI APPEAL was slow then tightened between DR BERTRAM and SOME JOE to be a long way back then ran on very well to finish third. DR OSCAR the favourite was checked on the first bend and then drifted throughout the race to finish a distant last. He was checked by the Club Veterinarian and found to have a shoulder injury. DR OSCAR (D Schofield) Rule 329. Sore shoulder on extension. Stood down for 10 days up to and including 17 August 2004. (Papers yet to be endorsed)
Race 9 TINT-A-CAR DASH - C4/5 - 318 RUMPOLE was scratched due to a left wrist injury. SHAR NAZIR and BLUE PARAGON were both tightened for racing room after the start losing a length. BLUE PARAGON was never in contention thereafter but SHAR NAZIR rallied well to finish third. NICHOLAS BALE the favourite began well and forged to the lead but was unable to withstand the finish of TAP TO IT. TAP TO IT was very wide early but showed speed to challenge for the lead and was too strong in the straight to win by a head. KEEN PRECISION went to an early lead until the bend then drifted to finish sixth. BROOKLYN ASH was always in the rear group. RUMPOLE (G Calverley) Rule 259. Probable spider bite to left wrist causing heat and swelling. Stood down for 8 days up to and including 12 August 2004.
