Judicial report: Weather: Fine. Handler Craig Symes was not permitted to handle greyhounds on the track post race 5,
in terms of Rule 294.1 (a), having been deemed to be incapable of handling through excessive liquor consumption.

Race 1 MAIDEN SPRINT - C0 - 375 Seven starters. Bedas Boy had his hind quarters forced down when checked across the back by Westar Gold - both dogs were racing towards the rear at this, the early, stage of the race. Westar Gold was found to be injured at a post race veterinary examination. No 4 Westar Gold (M Earley). Rule 329 - hock and muscular soreness. Stand down 10 days to 17.07.04. VC held.
Race 2 TAMAHERE STAKES - C2/3 - 457 Someone started on equal terms with the field and then raced prominently and led briefly rounding the bend but then when seemingly unable to cross the field began to drop back and ended up towards the rear.
Race 3 THOMAS WOOD PHOTOGRAPHY DASH - C1/2 - 375 Hostile Girlie took an early lead and carried on for a decisive win. Storm Edition conceded ground when slow to start but steadily worked through field and ran on late for third. No 3 Orana City (DD Schofield). Rule 259 - soreness in left and right biceps. Stand down 10 days to 15.07.04. VC held.
Race 4 RAGLAN STAKES - C1 - 457 Easter Man raced wide from the outside draw until straight entrance where he moved across and took the inner running after pacemaker Wild Gunnadoo drifted out - Easter Man then stormed away for a strong win.
Race 5 DINSDALE DASH - C2/3 - 375 As the field moved into the straight the lure malfunctioned and came to a sudden halt. The race was then subject to a re-run with three late scratchings through injury. Although the lure was closed on by the leading dogs in the re-run, the 'no race' rule was not breached and the placings stood. The co-operation of all trainers, in a dual code situation, for their part in the re run was noted. LATE SCRATCHINGS FOR RE-RUN No 2 Musical Drama (B & L Craik). No 4 Boogie Woogie (GC Farrell). No 7 Sand Dancer (McIntyre/Flowers). (Refer to Stand downs). No 2 Musical Drama (B & L Craik). Rule 329 - abrasions to forelimbs - bleeding. Strand down 7 days to 14.07.04. VC held. No 4 Boogie Woogie (GC Farrell). Rule 329 - straind hock. Stand down 21 days to 28.07.04. VC held. No 7 Sand Dancer (McIntyre/Flowers). Rule 329 - shoulder soreness. Stand down 5 dasy to 12.07.04. VC held.
Race 6 WATERLOO CUP HEAT - C5q - 457 Heat 1 Speed Twin put an early break on the field and looked the likely winner until gathered in just short of the post by the fast finishing Rasmah Reason. No 7 Regal Bazz (DD Schofield) - gained start in race 3.
Race 7 RACEWAY DASH - C4/5 - 375 Le Man Song was swiftly away from the jump and held until slightly checked from behind by Tap To It - Le Mans Song then drifted back towards then rear and made no further improvement. A post race veterinary examination found Mans Song to be injured and he was subject of a stand down. No 5 Le Mans Song ( D Mathews). Rule 329 - soreness to leg and hip. Stand down 7 days to 14.07.04. VC issued.
Race 8 TAUWHARE STAKES - C2 - 457 Melissa Bale moved off the track inner in the early running and pushed Miss Jade out - Raheny Reason then severely checked Miss Jade causing her to drop back. Miss Tibet was also impeded at this time.
Race 9 THOMAS WOOD PHOTOGRAPHY STAKES - C4 - 457 I'm Wishing was up in second place, challenged for the lead then began to drift - was checked by Winsome Mate and went to the rear of the field. Gold Jed flared wide entering the straight after being subjected to strong impact from I'm Wishing when that dog switched out suddenly as the rear dogs ran into the straight entrance.
