Judicial report: Weather: Fine A charge under Rule 294.2 against JR Goode was opened and adjourned pending further enquiry.
A charge under Rule 135.1 was preferred against the Raceday Secretary, G Kingston, in respect of him omitting to scratch JUDYANNE BALE (AC Roberts) from Race 8, the Stapleton's Pet Food Stakes, after she had obtained a start as second reserve in the feature, the South Rakaia Hotel Juvenile. He elected to plead guilty to the charge and was fined $100.00 by the Judicial Steward. JUDYANNE BALE was a late scratching at a result from Race 8.

Race 2 | SHIRLEY VETERINARY STAKES - C1 - 520 | ZINGER'S REVENGE was slow to jump settling last. When improving into the first corner, she came in contact with BROKEN TITLE and JUST A BARKLEY, all three dogs jostling for a number of strides. BROKEN TITLE ran on strongly for fourth with the other two finishing at the rear. |
Race 3 | ULTRAVOX SPRINT - C1 - 295 | HOMEBUSH BOY was slow to jump from the outside box settling last. Into the first corner HOMEBUSH LEGEND and KIWI NIKO were tightened by JEMALONG EASTERN as he crossed down towards the rail. HOMEBUSH LEGEND never recovered finishing at the rear alongside HOMEBUSH BOY with KIWI NIKO running on well for fourth. WILLANDRA BALE (AC Roberts) stood down at Wanganui GRC meeting on 2 July 2004. Race 5 | NEUMANS TYRES STAKES - C0 - 520 | In the approach to the first corner TE PIRITA TIGER and TOKEN KIWI came together for a number of strides when racing at the rear of the field. TE PIRITA TIGER ran on for fourth with TOKEN KIWI finishing amongst the tail enders. Into the corner WESTAR GOLD ran wide taking MULBERRY CHELLE and MCKENZIE LEIGH with her. Race 7 | CONNIE SMALLRIDGE MEMORIAL ASHBURTON CUP - C5 - 520 | In the entrance to the first corner SUPERSTITIOUS was tightened between dogs losing ground. Shortly afterwards DR ABERNATHY jumped sharply outwards off the hindquarters of the favourite TONY ROME coming in contact with an improving SUPERSTITIOUS, both dogs losing ground. SUPERSTITIOUS finished strongly in the straight to figure in a photo for third with TONY ROME and DR ABERNATHY finishing at the rear. |
Race 8 | STAPLETON'S PET FOODS STAKES - C1 - 520 | ANXIOUS MOMENTS was slow to jump settling at the rear never improving during the running. Into the first corner ASTRA NOMACOOL and BOMBER BELLE came together, ASTRA NOMACOOL running on over the concluding stages for third, with BOMBER BELLE finishing last. JUDYANNE BALE (AC Roberts) was a late scratching as she regained the field in the feature event Race 4. No penalty. |
Race 9 | ISLINGTON HOTEL STAKES - C2/3 - 520 | On the approach to the first corner BAGHDAD TOKEN moved away from the rail coming in contact with POLAR KEV on his outer, both dogs running wide around the corner. BAGHDAD TOKEN finished well in the straight for third with POLAR KEV finishing near the rear. FERRIS BALE (RS Parker) right shoulder pain. Rule 257. 30 days up to and including 31 July 2004. Race 10 | HORORATA HOTEL SPRINT - C4 - 295 | Into the first corner HIGH FEVER and SHEEZA FREE were tightened by dogs on their outer, SHEEZA FREE falling with resultant checks to the favourite HOMEBUSH MICK and HOMEBUSH STEVE. HIGH FEVER recovered well to run on for third, with the other dogs finishing at the rear. SHEEZA FREE regained her feet and finished the event, and was checked by the Club Veterinarian who detected no injuries. |
