Judicial report: Weather: Overcast A Judicial Hearing was convened and adjourned until the 11 July 2004 in the matter of a breach of Rule 172 brought against trainer G Calverley for his nomination of the greyhound Bedas Boy when that dog was not elligible. Mr Calverley was not present.
An Enquiry in terms of Rule 123.8 was opened in respect of the withdrawal of the greyhound Astro Doll from race 9.
A Satisfactory Trial in terms of Rule 179.1 was required for the greyhound Overstep, an entrant in race 4.

Race 1 | COMMERCIAL PLUMBING DASH - C0 - 318 | Grogan Lee was early pacemaker, holding until swamped near the line by the three placegetters, with Flying Tuskey, on debut, prevailing. No 3 Bedas Boy (G Calverley). Withdrawn - not elligible. |
Race 2 | STREETS ICE CREAM STAKES - C0 - 527 | Bet She Can was slow to start and trailed the field into the first bend by several lenghts. Moving down the back straight Bet She Can made steady progress along the rail and entering the home straight ran on strongly for third. Ore Well was in running contact with Achieve A Dream going into the first bend and further on the in the running whilst both dogs were near the back of the field. Ore Well collapsed at the lure on completion of the race and could not be revived. No 6 Bit Of Grit (L Nixon). Rule 259 - Sand burns and pad abraision. Stand down 10 days to 10.07.04. Dog presented. VC held. (Ore Well, No 9, could not be revived by the veterinary surgeon after collapsing at the lure post race). |
Race 3 | COCOA COLA DASH - C0 - 318 | Race clear. No 6 Kimster (A Cleaver). Rule 259 - right shoulder injury. Stand down 6 days to 07.07.04. Dog presented. VC held. |
Race 4 | MEADOWSET GRAPHICS DASH - C1 - 318 | Over Step was slow to start and then after pulling up, lept the guard rail and ran across the centre of the track to the field at the lure. A post race veterinary examination revealed that the greyhound had sustained an injury, and a stand down was imposed. Over Step will complete a satisfactory trial before racing again. Also injured and subject of a stand down was the greyhound Paddle Foot who had pulled up in the early running but did trail the field home. No 1 Paddle Foot (JR Udy). Rule 329 - soreness to left front shoulder, l/f triceps and l/f rear hip support. Stand down 5 days to 06.07.04. VC held. No 8 Over Step (MH Knight). Rule 329 - r/h hip support torn and sore. Stand down 10 days to 11.07.04. VC held. |
Race 5 | ROYAL WOLF CONTAINERS STAKES - C1 - 527 | Longest Drive was checked and pushed wide onto Oxey when Don Paulier moved out on her inner - Longest Drive dropped back towards the rear of the field and raced there from that point. . |
Race 6 | FRIDAY FLASH DASH - C1/2 - 318 | Educating Archie was racing prominently in the early stages when blocked and squeezed towards the rail by Charmed Mahogany. Educating Archie was forced down on his hindquarters and from that point was out of contention. |
Race 7 | JIMBO'S PETFOODS DASH - C2 - 318 | Geechie Lobo tailed off after the jump and trailed home a distant last. A veterinary examination post race revealed the greyhound had been injured. Grasscutter Bob checked back through the field in the early running after contact with Tess'a Delight when he, Grasscutter Bob, moved off the track inner. No 8 Geechie Lobo (KE Lomas). Rule 329 - r/h gracilus torn. Stand down 30 days to 01.08.04. |

Race 9 | CROWN CONSTRUCTION STAKES - C2 - 527 | Gozo Reg kicked clear and went on for a decisive win. No 3 Astro Doll (NP Green). Entrant in Gobis Final at Wanganui. |
Race 10 | EGH INTERNET GREYHOUNDS DASH - C3/4 - 318 | Le Mans Song, after flying the boxes, took a commanding lead and ran on in style to the line. High Pockets moved off the rail in the early running, pushing Tempest Reign out. No 5 Onslow Bale (GN Pomeroy). Ruled 329 - lacerated foot. Stand down 7 days to 08.07.04. VC held. |
