Judicial report: Weather: Fine evening. Trainer AC Roberts was charged with a breach of Rule 262.2 in that he failed to produce KIWI NIKO by the close of kennelling. He pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined $50.00 by the Judicial Steward.
MM Grant the Trainer of MICHAEL DIAMOND an entrant in Race 1 The Pedigree Advance Sprint, was charged with a breach of Rule 255. After hearing from Grant he was issued with a warning to ensure when a dog was scratched through injury at a previous meeting, there was an obligation on him to ensure the dog was scratched from its forthcoming nominations.

Race 1 PEDIGREE ADVANCE SPRINT - C2 - 295 EFFERVESENCE jumped to the lead from the boxes and was never headed, winning well. WILD WHIZ ran wide around the corner losing ground finishing last. BACK HERE MACKA and the favourite WAG came together around the corner losing momentum and finishing mid field. PETITE JEWEL(AC Roberts) left fore infected toe. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 259. 10 days up to and including 8 July 2004. MICHAEL DIAMOND (MM Grant) stood down Christchurch GRC 29 June 2004. Rule 329. 30 days up to and including 28 July 2004. ----------
Race 2 EXCELSIOR SPORTS BAR SPRINT - C3 - 295 This race was put back 1 minute on the instruction of TAB Race Control. Soon after jumping from the boxes KING LOUIS ran outwards, tightening HOMEBUSH DEEJAY and TOKEN TALK on his outer. These dogs never recovered, finishing near the rear of the field. ETTINGER BALE the favourite, jumped to a clear lead from the outside box, running away to win easily.
Race 3 CANTERBURY DRAUGHT 6 PACK - C3 - 520 SPIRIT OF OZARK and FERRIS BALE were slow to jump finishing amongst the tail enders. STYLISH ZOE (M Earley) starter in Race 4.----------
Race 4 METRO TRUST NZ STAYERS CUP - HEAT 1 - C2dq - 732 Heat 1 SKIPPER RIP the favourite was slow to jump from the inside box, running on over the concluding stages for second. FAITHFUL BLUE drove to the lead soon after the jump, running away to win easily in a new track record. AQUA GOOFY who was in second place into the home straight on the first occasion, broke down drifting down drifting through the field to finish a distant last. When he was checked by the Club Veterinarian he was found to have a fractured right hock, resulting in his euthanasia on humane grounds. MADAME'S PRIDE (M Hawkins) lame right hind leg. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 259. 10 days up to and including 9 July 2004. ---------- AQUA GOOFY (JR Goode) Rule 329. Fractured right hock. Euthanised on humane grounds.
Race 5 FLAIR (S.I) STAKES - C1 - 520 LOCHINVAR FIRE ran wide around the first corner, losing ground never improving in the running, finishing last.
Race 6 BILLS BAR & BISTRO SPRINT - C1 - 295 SHADY'S MATE was slow to jump from the inside box, recovering and improving along the rail running on for fourth. Around the first corner the favourite BUS PAINTER clipped the hindquarters of SHADY'S MATE, falling heavily taking no further part in the event. He was checked by the Club Veterinarian who detected no injuries.
Race 7 METRO TRUST NZ STAYERS CUP HEAT 2 - C2dq - 732 Heat 1 Around the first corner SHIRAZ ROYALE was tightened between dogs, coming back on the favourite MCDEEBEE and RICH AND BLUE. MCDEEBEE ran on over the concluding stages to win the event, with SHIRAZ ROYALE fifth. RICH AND BLUE never recovered tailing the field home.
Race 8 WILSONS SPORTS BAR STAKES - C4/5 - 520 Into the first corner FAITHFUL WHISKY checked out off the hindquarters of BURN THE PEG, as he drove down towards the rail, forcing HOMEBUSH WILLY and TOKEN EGO wide on the track. These dogs never recovered finishing mid field.
Race 9 ABRAHAMS SPORTS BAR STAKES - C2 - 520 INDICATIVE ran wide around the first corner, taking KELLBRETT PRINCE with her. At the end of the back straight POLAR KEV eased when endeavouring to rail inside the dogs, losing momentum and forcing SEPTEMBER STORM to run wide. These dogs never recovered from the incident, finishing amongst the rail enders. INDICATIVE was examined by the Club Veterinarian following the event and found to have right hind outside sesamoid pain, with a 10 days stand down recommended. Race 10 BARRON'S SUPPLIES SPRINT - C3/4 - 295 Into the first corner ROTKARA BOMBER was tightened between dogs coming back on the favourite HOMEBUSH LEO, POTENTIAL ROGUE, HOMEBUSH MICK and NOVEMBER BEAR. They never recovered finishing at the rear.----------
