Incident Reports

Race Number Race Name Incident Report
Race 1 DUNEDIN DASH - C1 - 375 Miss Tibet was the early pacemaker - taking field into straight but then veering wide, allowing Lickem Luke to take both the advantage of the inner running and the lead. Miss Tibet however staightened up and stormed back into contention down the outer, taking the decision right on the line. Blue County was in sharp shoulder contact with Paddle Foot on his outer exiting the bend into the straight, knocking that dog sideways before scrambling momentarily and then checking off the back of Mistress Honcho, in front of him on his inner. Golden Lobo was slow to start then ranged back and forth across the back of field for the remainder of the race.
Race 2 MANUKAU MAIDEN - C0 - 457 Flying Tuskey from box 3 pushed out after the jump at the same time that Waingaro Lassie from box 6 pushed inwards - with a considerable tightening of those dogs and the ones drawn between resulting. Taretare Sauce kicked away entering the straight and ran strongly to the line.
Race 3 IMPROVERS SPRINT FINAL - C1 - 375 May Well Be blitzed away from the jump for an early lead but only held until Real Silence moved along outer and took over - Real Silence looked the most likely to win but was denied by a fast finishing Basil Faulty right on the line.
Race 4 WANGANUI STAKES - C1 - 457 Race clear.
Race 5 MANAWATU STAKES - C1 - 457 Last Star was noticeably slow. Bozo Fulton took the lead shortly after the jump and held well to the line. Bronnie Bolta was checked middle of the back straight when squeezed between Charmaine Bale and Bozo Fulton - Bronnie Bolta went back and impeded progress of He's Hypo, a favoured runner. He's Hypo recovered strongly for second placing. No 1 Solo Cruise (T McGillivray). Under current stand down from WGRC. .
Race 6 SOLWAY SPRINT - C2/3 - 375 Red Country raced along rail and after putting a break on field held to the line, moving away. No 6 Little Toot (K Lomas). Rule 259 - gastroenteritis. Stand down 10 days to 08.07.04. VC held.
Race 7 ADDINGTON STAKES - C2 - 457 Masonry was the early leader before drifting right to the rear. No 2 Browning Bale (GN Pomeroy). Rule 259 - hip strain. Stand down 10 days to 08.07.04. Dog presented. VC held.
Race 8 SOUTHLAND SPRINT - C4/5 - 375 Aston Marshall, the hot favourite, scrambled slightly at the jump, took the initial lead but quickly dropped to the rear, tailing the field home. An ordered veterinary examination revealed that a rose thorn deeply imbedded in a foot pad was the probable cause of the dog's failure to dominate the race as expected. It will be ensured that handlers take suitable precautions to avoid such an injury being repeated.
Race 9 WELLINGTON STAKES - C3 - 457 Race clear.
Race 10 WWW.DOGTIPS.NET.NZ STAKES - C4/5 - 457 The probable favourite, Swift Appeal, was a late scratching when found stricken with fever of unknown origin. This left the field with only five starters. No 6 Brooklyn Ash (McIntyre/Flowers). Rule 259 - triceps soreness. Stand down 5 days to 1.07.04. Dog presented. VC held. No 8 Dr Kingsley (L Nixon). Rule 259 - sore shoulder. Stand down 10 days to 08.07.04. Dog presented. VC held. LATE SCRATCHING No 4 Swift Appeal (DD Schofield). Rulde 259 - fever of unknown origin. Stand down 5 days to 04.07.04. VC held.
