Race 1 SUPERIOR CATERING SPRINT HEAT 1 - C0q - 305 Heat 1 HOMEBUSH LUCKY and DURANGO STAR collided on the first corner with HOMEBUSH LUCKY losing several lengths. DURANGO STAR was put off stride and also lost ground. HOMEBUSH LUCKY suffered a deep spike injury and was stood down for 10 days. HOMEBUSH LUCKY Trainer P.Knights Rule 329 Suffered a spike wound and stood down for 10 days to and including 06.07.04.
Race 2 METEOR PRINTERS STAKES - C0 - 520 HOMEBUSH EDWARD turned in the boxes and lost several lengths and all chance. He was ordered to box trial and this was completed satisfactorily a few hours latter. MANAWA NUI, WOODSTOCK PRINCE and SALLY'S DELIGHT collided on the first bend and they all lost some ground.
Race 3 SPICER'S PAPER '305' HEAT 2 - C0q - 305 Heat 1 One of the favourites TESHAMORE was slow away and was then checked against the rail on the first corner, went back to last and stayed at the rear. WINDJAMMER was also tightened and checked early in the race. BOROLO STAR raced onto the heels of AGGIE'S STASH on the bend, was checked and lost ground.
Race 4 DOUBLE 'S' MOTORDROME STAKES - C1 - 520 COMMANDO JEWEL, SHEZA ZINGER and UPAHUT ROSE were checked on the first corner and dropped back to the rear and stayed back. PAUA MISSILE was checked entering the back straight but recovered to win the race. SOLO CRUISE was sore in the right front shoulder after the race and was stood down for 10 days. SOLO CRUISE. Trainer T.McGillivray. Rule 329. Received a shoulder injury and stood down for 10 days to and including 06.07.04.
Race 5 WANGANUI SECURITY SERVICES DASH - C1 - 305 SMOKIN TIME moved in on the first corner and caused checks to BOLD GYPSY, FRYER'S FLYER, CHIPPEWA BRAVE and also JUBILANT MISS who almost fell. They never recovered and filled the last four places.
Race 6 HEADS ROAD VETERINARY '520' - C1 - 520 LADY PANTHERELLA was scratched due to an eye infection. The race was all clear. LADY PANTHERELLA. Trainer L.Haigh. Rule 259. Has an eye infection and was presented and stood down for 7 days to and including 03.07.04.
Race 7 ANDERSON'S FOR MEN '305' - C1 - 305 RALPH was scratched due to a stifle injury. HOT DISCOVERY was scratched due to gastroenteritis. The favourite THRILLING BERYL was one of the slowest away and was then pushed very wide on the bend and lost any chance of a placing. LADY MALONE ran onto the heels of WOTAN on the bend, moved out sharply and pushed EMOYENI very wide. HOT DISCOVERY. Trainer M.McDonnell. Rule 259. Suffering from gastroenteritis and stood down for 10 days to and including 05.07.04. RALPH. Trainer G & S Hayden/Holmes. Rule 259. Has a stifle injury and was stood down for 10 days to and including 05.07.04.
Race 8 EXCEED STAKES - HEAT 1 - R/Aq - 520 Heat 1 TURBO ROYALE and MISS CHANTELLE were checked on the first corner, went back to the rear and stayed there. The favourite THRILLING SAM was checked when attempting a gap inside KNOCKABOUT FRED starting on the last bend. He recovered to win well. D.Fahey was fined $ 20-00 under Rule 135 (1) for failing to provided a catcher.
Race 9 DISPLAY ASSOCIATES '305' - C2 - 305 NESSIE'S CHARM was scratched due to a back injury. SOUTHBROOK STAR was a late scratching when found to be suffering from diarrhoea shortly before start time. The start of this event was delayed slightly due to the problem with SOUTHBROOK STAR.. NESSIE'S CHARM. Trainer D.Garrett. Rule 259. Suffering from a back injury and stood down for 10 days to and including 04.07.04. SOUTHBROOK STAR. Trainer J & D Fahey. Rule 259. A late scratching due to suffering from diarrhoea. Stood down for 5 days to and including 01.07.04.
Race 10 RUSH HIRE STAKES - HEAT 2 - R/Aq - 520 Heat 1 SUPERSTITIOUS clipped the heels of COSMIC ECLIPSE starting the last bend, dropped back a couple of places but then recovered to win.
Race 11 BRYCE FRANCIS GRAPHICS '305' - C2 - 305 LISSADELL MAC was suspected to have turned its head to fight with GIN GINGER CAP but this could not be conclusively confirmed on the video films and so no further action was taken.
Race 12 HOUSE OF TRAVEL '520' - C1 - 520 DUSTY'S DIAMOND was a late scratching when found to have a toe injuty at kennelling time. HOSTILE BLUES and STALLONE collided on the first corner and lost a little ground. DUSTY'S DIAMOND. Trainer L.Fornasiere. Rule 259. A late scratching due to a toe injury. Stood down for 10 days to and including 06.07.04.
Race 13 VITAPOWER '520' - C2 - 520 All clear.
Race 14 ASR SPRAYPAINTING STAKES - C3 - 520 One of the best supported runners CRUZMORE was handy early but then ran wide, faded out and finished in last place.
Race 15 DA MORRISON'S ELECTRIC CITY DASH - C3 - 305 PURE HONCHO was scratched due to injury. IRINKA BETTY was scratched under the 100 Kilometre rule. PURE HONCHO. Trainer J.Hastie. Rule 259. Suffering from a bite wound and stood for 10 days to and including 06.07.04. TIPPED TOP. Trainer S. Maher. Rule 329. Fell and received abrasions and pain in the chest area. Stood down for 7 days to and including 03.07.04..
