Judicial report: Weather: Fine An Enquiry in terms of Rule 123.8 was opened to determine the circumstances which lead to an apparent incorrect call by the Judge and photo finish operators as to the order of the placings of the greyhounds in Race 9, the C2/3 457m Raglan Stakes. The Enquiry was adjourned to the next meeting of the Waikato & District GRC on the 13 June 2004 for a
Judicially chaired hearing to examine witnesses and record evidence.

Race 1 CAMBRIDGE HURDLES CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL - C1/2hf - 457 Hurdles Championship final. All dogs completed course although Aranuijazz did tumble at the third hurdle - he regained his footing and on resuming tailed the field home. Prince Zidane equalled the track record with a sustained run. A post race veterinary examination cleared the fallen dog of injury. No 5 Cherokee Squaw (BJ Melville). Rule 259 - stand down 30 days to 01.07.04.
Race 2 TAMAHERE DASH - C1 - 375 Mr Big Head worked through the field on the track inner to be handy to leaders, then entering stright petered out and drifted back.
Race 3 MATANGI STAKES - C1 - 457 Awesome Enforcer was noticeably slow to start, conceding ground then quickly recovering to mid-field on the rail but not making any further impression on the placed dogs.
Race 4 TAUWHARE SPRINT - C2 - 375 Kiwi Fire set off swiftly from the jump and held easily to the line. The favourite Boogie Woogie was slow start, conceding ground. Boogie Woogie did recover to the back of the field but made little forward progress from there, finishing with two dogs behind him. Dorothy Bale, after trailing and finishing second, was the victim of a fatal collapse after the finish when the dogs reached the lure.
Race 5 LEAMINGTON DISTANCE - C2d - 630 The favourite Mcdeebee settled midfield before driving through to the front from where he ran unchallenged to the line, setting a new track record time. Kolliwobble scrambled for her footing on jumping and although she recovered to the back of the field made no further impact from that point. .
Race 6 HAMILTON DISTANCE - C1d - 630 Rasmah Reason impressed with a strong sustained run - breaking the track record set in the previous race. Stylish Zoe finished on late from well back for the third placing.
Race 7 DINSDALE DASH - C4/5 - 375 Aston Marshall sped away and held strongly to the line. Oakland Havoc and Le Mans Song were positioned second and third in the early stages but both ended up towards the rear, Le Mans Song shortening in stride and drifting, and Oakland Havoc being checked.
Race 8 WWW.DOGTIPS.NET.NZ DASH - C3 - 375 Yeap cleared away early and held easily to the line. Miss Jade took the second placing in the final strides from Waitak Attack.
Race 9 RAGLAN STAKES - C2/3 - 457 Dr Bertram was given the Judge's call for the win after a line of dogs spread across the track. This decision became the subject of an Enquiry into an apparent incorrect call of the placings - the Enquiry was adjourned for a Judicially chaired hearing at the next meeting of the Club.
Race 10 BRUNTWOOD STAKES - C4/5 - 457 Swift Appeal in a powerful display of running took the race with ease. Dr Kingsley and Walton Bale, both racing at the rear early were blocked for a run by Trendy Rhode then when exiting the bend into the straight Dr Kingsley switched sharply across back of Walton Bale, causing that dog to rear up his front legs.
