Judicial report: Weather: Overcast A Judicial Enquiry was held into the running of race 2, after the second placed greyhound, Classic Tyler (RP O'Regan) was observed to have faltered in her running whilst challenging strongly midstraight against the leader, (kennel mate Grasscutter Bob), and then to have turned and veered towards the other dog on the rail. Race 1 COCA-COLA DASH - C0 - 318 Lady Tibet was the first to break the line after the jump and held until Classic Tyler raced along the track outer and together with Grasscutter Bob, took control leaving the bend. Grasscutter Bob and Classic Tyler then set out for the line before Classic Tyler was seen to falter and veer inwards towards the other dog, actions which were the subject of a later Judicial Enquiry. Classic Tyler was found to have suffered an injury during the running and was subject to a stand down.
Race 2 STREETS ICE-CREAM MAIDEN - HEAT 2 - C0q - 527 Heat 1 Race abandoned on 'No race' declaration. Shezmy Scallywag, after becoming tangled with Linnymay at the first bend, fell heavily and on standing turned and set out towards the starting boxes - running the reverse way. The lure driver was required to stop the lure mid-straight to avoid further mishap. No 2 Shezmy Scallywag (CA Symes). Rule 329 - injured during running - right hind leg lacerations. Stand down 8 days to 08.06.04.VC held.
Race 3 ROYAL WOLF CONTAINERS SPRINT - HEAT 1 - C1q - 318 Heat 1 This race was delayed until the start time for race 4 - with a TAB systems crash the cause. All other races were moved to timings in place for the 'next scheduled' race start, with the last race commencing at 6.30pm. Dark Sensation justified favouritism after an early dispute for the lead with Jumbo Flash. Tartare Sauce finished strongly to feature in a dead heat with Jumbo Flash for second. Astro Edition and Spooky Fella flared wide during the first bend. Heza Scallywag charged across from the outside draw after the jump, impeding the inner dogs, with Tartare Sauce, Astro Edition, and Spooky Fella being particularly affected.
Race 4 ROYAL WOLF CONTAINERS SPRINT - HEAT 2 - C1q - 318 Heat 1 Opening Time and Sambuca Pete came together in shoulder to shoulder contact after the jump, with Golden Lobo flaring wide to avoid them. Mr Big Head was positioned handy in the early running but then dropped back quickly - causing Opening Time and Sambuca Pete to be checked in their running.
Race 5 TINT-A-CAR STAKES - C1 - 527 Race clear. .
Race 6 ROYAL WOLF CONTAINERS SPRINT - HEAT 3 - C1q - 318 Heat 1 Race clear.
Race 7 ROYAL WOLF CONTAINERS SPRINT - HEAT 4 - C1q - 318 Heat 1 Seven starters.Flash Tyler was slow to start and was then blocked when dogs converged in front of her - Flash Tyler recovered quickly to mid-field but failed to progress further. No 6 Mr Luke (MJ Lozell). Rule 259 - kennel cough. Stand down 30 days to 1.07.04. No 8 Thrilling Astro (WT Hodgson). Under stand down from WGRC meeting on 28.05.04.
Race 8 CATERING PROFESSIONALS STAKES - C1 - 527 Our Polar blitzed away from the boxes and held well until Black Tyler crossed from the outside draw and after trailing leader into the straight challenged and proved too strong at the line.
Race 9 EGH INTERNET GREYHOUNDS DASH - C2 - 318 Late scratching of Justa Toff, injured during kenneling, reduced field to seven starters. Masonry took early lead and held to line in decisive manner.Luminoso raced wide and towards back for the entire distance. (Late scratching) No 5 Justa Toff (DL Annette). Injured during kenneling, Rule 259 - forearm haematoma. Stand down 7 days to 7.06.04. VC held.
Race 10 GOBIS CLUB BONUS SERIES #2 - HEAT 1 - RESq - 527 Heat 1 Boogie Woogie dived on line to take the win from the favourite Turf Muncher. Poetical was checked whilst midfield in the early running. Kiwi Fire raced wide and towards the back throughout, with Longest Drive also drifting and finishing back. No 5 Charmed Mohogany (NP Green). Rule 259 - injured toe. Stand down 30 days to 30.06.04.
Race 11 GOBIS CLUB BONUS SERIES #2 - HEAT 2 - RESq - 527 Heat 1 Race clear.
Race 12 BELLBIRD ARMS DASH - C4/5 - 318 Mr Paterson justified being favourite with a sustained run in front throughout. Astro Doll and Marluke raced midfield rounding first bend then Astro Doll moved off rail and pushed Marluke wide - Here's Freddie at this time crossed in front of Marluke, became entangled then fell heavily to the track. Here's Freddie regained his feet and came home a distant last. A post race veterinary examination cleared the fallen dog of injury.
Race 13 JIMBO'S PETFOODS STAKES - C2/3 - 527 High Pockets showed on the outer from box 8 before Shar Nazir forged through the centre of the field and raced away unchallenged for the line. Following the jump, Rumpole from box 7 moved in simultaneously with Let Me from box 4 moving out - causing the dogs drawn between to falter in their progress.
Race 14 MANUKAU RESTRICTED FINAL - R/Af - 527 Race clear.
Race 15 RADIO PACIFIC STAKES - C4/5 - 527 The favourite Lazy Alex was the initial leader, holding until exiting the bend into the home straight where Coruba Storm challenged and looked likely until Den Of Fire surged late and took the win. Stallone and Bozo Fulton flared wide at the first bend - both dogs remained towards the back from that point. No 9 Ceramic (SL Ross). 100k rule.
