Judicial report: Weather: Overcast The charge under Rule 256 against trainer AH Lee was reconvened after having been adjourned on 30 April 2004. After hearing the explanation from Trainer Lee the Judicial Steward accepted the explanation as lawful but advised her to ensure better communication in the future.

BROKEN TITLE ran on over the concluding stages for fourth, with CYBIL DEFENCE finishing near the rear. SHANDANDOR BALE drifted to last soon after the jump, finishing amongst the tailenders. LYNNY LOU who was prominent early drifted throughout the event to finish last. |
Race 2 | OTAGO STAKES - C3 - 520 | QUEZON CITY drifted to last on jumping, never improving during the running. The second favourite MILKY LABRI drove to the lead into the first corner, running away to win easily. |
Race 3 | SOUTHLAND SPRINT - C2 - 295 | The favourite WHATA TEX and CAWBOURNE STEWY drifted to the rear after the jump. CAWBOURNE STEWY finished strongly in the straight for third, with WHATA TEX finishing amongst the tailenders. |
Race 4 | ASHBURTON STAKES - C4/5 - 520 | STARLIGHT BALE jumped to a clear lead on leaving the boxes, however into the first corner settled midfield drifting out during the running to finish second to last. The favourite POWER WITHIN who was mid field in the early stages drifted out to finish last. |
Race 5 | MANAWATU SPRINT - C4/5 - 295 | Into the first corner HIGH FEVER, PRIVATE BEN, HOMEBUSH STEVE and FLIGHTY were checked as a result of general tightening losing momentum. They never recovered filling the last four places GEOFFREY CRAYON drifted to the rear soon after the jump, however swooped around the field across the top finishing on strongly in the home straight to win well. |
Race 6 | WELLINGTON SPRINT - C2 - 295 | Into the first corner the favourite NEW YORK COP eased when MICHAEL DIAMOND crossed down to the rail, coming back on a trailing DICTATION, SYDNEY'S LEGEND and MELTING POT. MICHAEL DIAMOND ran on for second with the other dogs filling the last four places. JANE'S COMMANDO (BC Dann) diarrhoea. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied.
