Race 1 HIGH FLYERS HURDLES - C1h - 505 ROTARY TALENT and ARANUI TUI collided on the first bend with ROTARY TALENT dropping back quickly and he tailed the field home by several lengths. The vets examination revealed a leg muscle injury and a 28 day stand down was ordered. The favourite OUR PATCH was handy until the last bend but he tired and dropped out to finish in 2nd last place. ROTARY TALENT. Trainer B.Hood. Rule 329. Suffered a leg muscle injury and stood down for 28 days to and including 10.06.04.
Race 2 CLARKS SEAFOOD & DELI - C0 - 297 MAC DA YAP ran in soon after the start and crowded EDNA MAYCEE and HOMEBUSH LUCKY for a few strides. MAC DA YAP was then checked on the first corner when EDNA MAYCEE moved out from the inside. The well supported LADY MALONE ran wide entering the home straight and this would have affected its chance of a closer placing.
Race 3 ALBION TAVERN SHANNON - C0 - 505 TULLACREMIN ran out on the first corner and forced FRANNY HALL and JUSTA SILVERSTAR very wide on the bend. JUSTA SILVERSTAR and TULLACREMIN eventually finished some distance behind the other runners but FRANNY HALL recovered well to finish quickly for third placing.
Race 4 MANAWATU SECURITY SERVICES - C1 - 297 SUPREME PARAGON was scratched and gained a start in Race 10. SUPREME PARAGON. Trainer L.Gill. Started in Race 10.
Race 5 PETER SINCLAIR PHOTOGRAPHER - C0 - 505 SCANDINAVIAN and DUSTY'S DIAMOND collided on the first corner and SCANDINAVIAN ran wide on the bend and then moved back in and caused checks to YUKON LANE, DUSTY'S DIAMOND and UNO BILLY JOE who lost several lengths and finished well back. WAIMARIE faded after leading in the early stages and finished well back. The vet examined the dog and reported that WAIMARIE was suffering from acidosis and a 7 day stand down was ordered. WAIMARIE. Trainer J & J Tapiki. Rule 329. Suffering from acidosis and stood down for 7 days to and including 20.05.04.
Race 6 AWAPUNI LIQUORLAND - C1 - 505 SAUCY ANNA failed to make the first corner correctly, moved out and collided with ASTRO NERONE and both ran wide losing ground. They were both well supported on the Tote but never recovered from the incident and finished well back.
Race 7 ALBION TAVERN VETERAN SPRINT - SPEC - 297 The well supported BODACIOUS BABE dropped out in the race to the first corner and tailed the field throughout to finish last.
Race 8 WANGANUI CAR CENTRE - C2 - 297 The boxes failed to open and the field was unloaded, the start mechanism was checked and the race started 2 minutes late. The starter was instructed to start the remaining races manually and the Club will have the starting switch checked before the next meeting. DOVE L'AMORE broke down during the race and was found to have a tricep muscle injury and will stand down for 28 days. Following this event, there was an altercation in the bar area between the Starter Mr D.Richards and the Course Caretaker Mr N.Coard. As a result, Mr Richards was charged under Rule 134. 10 (c ) with improper conduct and it was alleged that he had pushed into Mr Coard and used offensive language. The charge was proven and a fine of $ 300-00 was imposed. DOVE L'AMORE. Trainer T.Denbee. Rule 329. Suffered a tricep muscle injury and stood down for 28 days to and including 10.06.04.
Race 9 OXFORD HOTEL STAKES - C1 - 505 PUNI FIRE was checked entering the back straight and dropped back to near the rear. GO FAITH GO was checked starting the last bend when attempting a gap inside FAN FANCY CAPP. She lost ground and finished well back.
Race 10 BRYCE FRANCIS GRAPHICS INVITATION SPRINT - INV - 297 CLOSING IN was scratched due to an injury and has now been retired. IOMAN was tightened between GLORIA'S CHARM and PACIFIC JAZZY soon after the start and fell but was not injured. ACTION TIME moved across on the first corner and caused checks to PACIFIC JAZZY and YALLAH ROSE. CLOSING IN. Trainer J.McCook. Rule 259. Suffering from an injury and stood down for 30 days to and including 10.06.04. Now retired.
Race 11 RAPIDVITE PRODS - C2 - 297 ROSIEANNA TOKEN was a late scratching when found to be unfit to race due to having escaped from the handler early on race morning and over exercised. The on course vet examined the dog and a 7 day stand down was ordered. GINGER TYLER and GIN GINGER CAPP were checked on the first corner, went back to the rear and filled the last two places at the finish. ROSIEANNA TOKEN. Trainer Caffell / Jackson. Rule 259. Unfit to race after escaping on race morning and over exercising. Presented and stood down for 7 days to and including 20.05.04.
Race 12 SUPERIOR G/HAND KIBBLE - C2 - 505 SILK RIPPLE was scratched ex Waikato on 11.05.04. The favourite SMART TIP was checked early in the race, settled well back and was never any chance of a placing after that. SILK RIPPLE. Trainer C.Morris. Ex Waikato on 11.05.04.
