Judicial report: Weather: Showery and overcast conditions An inquiry was convened into a breach of Rule 172, against Trainer DR Kingston in respect of DREAMCHASER entered in Race 2 The Barrons Supplies Sprint. DREAM CHASER was subject to a lease agreement between Kingston and Owner RA Reckie, which commenced on 22 April 2003. The lease was not registered with the NZGRA, resulting in Kingston being dealt with on 13 November 2003 for a breach of Rule 168 to which he pleaded guilty and was fined.
The lease was subsequently registered by the NZGRA on 18 November 2003.
It had come to notice that the lease on the registration papers showed an expiry date of 22 April 2004, which was 12 months from the date the lease should have commenced, had it been registered.
The Judicial Steward determined that as Kingston had been dealt with on a breach of Rule 168 pertaining to the original non registration of the lease in April 2003, it followed that the lease agreement could not be retrospective and therefore should run for 12 months with effect 18 November 2003. On that basis DREAM CHASER was eligible to race and the charge against trainer Kingston was dismissed.

Race 1	PEDIGREE ADVANCE SPRINT - C1 - 295	RED KING dwelt at the start settling last, however finished well down the outer in the home straight for fourth. Into the first corner SCENIC DELIGHT was tightened between dogs, coming back on a trailing HOMEBUSH DIVA, both dogs losing all chance filling the last two places. LUKIMYU (GK Barron) stood down Christchurch GRC on 7 May 2004. Rule 329. 21 days up to and including 27 May 2004.
Race 2	BARRONS SUPPLIES SPRINT - C1 - 295	HOMEBUSH SNIPPET and HOMEBUSH LEGEND eased when tightened between dogs into the first corner, settling at the rear never improving during the running. Into the home straight DREAMCHASER and OZARK'S GUMBOOT came together for a number of strides, losing momentum finishing beyond mid field. GWINGANA TOKEN (PB Freeman) coughing. Dog presented. Veterinary certifcate supplied. Rule 259. 10 days up to and including 19 May 2004.
Race 3	GEORGE CALVERT CLEANERS SPRINT - C0 - 295	HOT SPOT jumped to an early lead, however ran outwards coming in contact with SHADY'S MATE, losing momentum and drifting through the field. Soon after this incident HOMEBUSH GIZMO moved down towards the rail, tightening KAY NINE ROCKET and HOMEBUSH DIESEL. Soon after SEASPRAY FOLLY was struck from behind by JUST A LAD, both dogs losing all chance and forcing HOT SPOT to run wide. HOMEBUSH DIESEL the favourite ran on for third, with KAY NINE ROCKET fourth, the other dogs finishing well back.
Race 4	ABRAHAMS SPORTS BAR STAKES - C0 - 520	Into the back straight HOMEBUSH BLAZE was tightened between dogs, drifting out over the concluding stages to finish last. At the end of the back straight AQUA FRED was tightened by an improving HOMEBUSH RED, losing momentum finishing fourth. HOMEBUSH RED ran on strongly over the concluding stages, running second.
Race 5	CONTAINERS DIRECT INTERTRADE SPRINT - C0 - 295	BALMAR BLUE drifted to last soon after jumping from the boxes, never improving during the running. In the approach to the first corner KIWI BLAZE was tightened between dogs, drifting out to finish second to last.
Race 6	ANGLERS ARMS STAKES - C0 - 520	CONSENT was slow to jump from the boxes, however improved around the first corner and into the back straight challenging for the lead on the home turn, finishing third. Into the first corner ANDREW'S MATE eased when tightend by SMART HAVOC on his outer, drifting through the field to finish last. Soon after jumping from the boxes TE PIRITA TIGER ran outwards, coming in contact with CLAN IVORY and BURNHAM THUNDER. TE PIRITA TIGER ran on well over the concluding stages for second, with the other two dogs finishing near the rear of the field.
Race 7	PICK SIX STAKES - C1 - 520	EBONY DELUXE was slow to jump from the outside box, settling last. When endeavouring to improve around the first corner, he was taken wide by BANKSIDE BELLA, these two dogs finishing amongst the tail enders.
Race 8	THE MILLER BAR STAKES - C1 - 520	HOMEBUSH BOY ran wide around the first corner and throughout the remainder of the race, finishing last. The favourite MR CARD drove to an early lead, being run down over the concluding stages to finish third. RAILROAD TRUMP (MJ Flipp) left hind sesamoid pain. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 259. 10 days up to and including 19 May 2004.
Race 9	ELVIN HIBBS MEMORIAL SPRINT - C5 - 295	HAWK DREAMER jumped to a clear lead, before being run down near the line by the short priced favourite SPOTTED HAND. HOMEBUSH STEVE drifted to last on jumping from the boxes, never improving in the running. DR COSMO (BC Dann) diarrhoea. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 259. 5 days up to and including 15 May 2004.
Race 10	FLAIR (SI) STAKES - C2 - 520	Into the first corner ULTIMATE MOVER who was in tightened quarters, checked out off the hindquarters of the eventual winner CAWBOURNE PAT, running wide on the track checking POLAR KEV and DR NOAKES. These dogs never recovered, finishng amongst the tail enders. RAILROAD WARRIOR (MJ Flipp) right fore toe sprain. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 259. 10 days up to and including 19 May 2004.
Race 11	TEMPS BAR DISTANCE - C1d - 732	All clear.
Race 12	BOWL AND JACK TAVERN SPRINT - C1 - 295	HOMEBUSH OPAL was slow to jump from the boxes, settling last, finishing near the rear of the field. Into the first corner WEE SWEETIE ran outwards, tightening KIWI NIKO on her outer. WEE SWEETIE finished second, with KIWI NIKO fourth. CECILIA LUGER and CURRENT POWER who drew the two outside boxes ran wide around the bend, losing all chance finishing near the rear of the field. KEV THE ALIEN (MM Grant) was a late scratching at kennelling when found to have diarrhoea. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 259. 5 days up to and including 16 May 2004.
