Stipendiary Stewards Report

Auckland Greyhound Racing Club

Manukau Stadium ON WEDNESDAY 28 Apr 2004

Weather:
Track: Good Firm
Scales: Correct at all weights
Health and Safety comment:

Judicial report: Weather: Mainly fine, with some light rain during afternoon. 1. M O'Brien, for trainer AH Lee, was formally warned re the withdrawal without valid reason of the greyhound Fifi The Flea, the first reserve for race 5.
The greyhound, Fifi The Flea, was deemed to be unable to compete for 30 days, in terms of Rule 257.1, the stand down to end at 11.30pm on 27.05.04.
2. The trainer RH Adcock was finded $20.00, in terms of Rule 135.1 for failing to ensure
that a catcher was in place for the greyhound Faithful Blue, No 1 in race 5.
3. An Enquiry was opened in terms of Rule 123.8 into the starting of the greyhound Faithful Blue (Adcock/Hopping) with a weight variance of (minus) 1.7k - the greyhound's last start being in Australia on the 10 April 2004. Clarification is sought as to the standing of Rule 269, which allows for a re-weigh only if the dog has not raced for 28 days, for imported or visiting/competing greyhounds. A memorandum seeking such clarification has been forwarded to the CE, NZGRA, for the urgent attention of the Racing Committee. The subject greyhlound finished third in the race.
4. Following the heats of the NZ Breeders Stakes, the AGRC ruled that a ballot for the two final places in the field, and the reserves, be held, as there were four dogs with an identical finish time, (with two dogs dead-heating for third in one heat). The ballot, attended by the (3) trainers of the four dogs, was later deemed to have been compromised, following verification from the timing operators that the greyhound Here's Freddy had
not in fact finished with a time equal to the other three. After contacting two of the 3 trainers involved, and making all appropriate efforts to contact the other one, a further ballot, with the three fastest third placed dogs represented, was held and the finalists were determined.
