Race 1 | HAUTAPU HURDLES - C1/2h - 457 | Time Code slow at start, conceding ground early. Both Gone Troppo and Val's Babe tumbled to the track after jumping first hurdle - both recovered to finish but a post race veterinary examination revealed injuries warranting stand down periods. Further in running, at second hurdle Aranui Sunrise fell - regained her footing and finished but was out of contention. Aranui Sunrise was not injured. Time Code skewed on landing at a later hurdle - being fortunate not to fall, but when looking at that time to improve, then became out of contention. No 3 Gone Troppo (BJ Jordan). Rule 329 - neck and wrist soreness. Stand down 7 days to 28.04.04. VC held. No 5 Val's Babe (BJ Jordan). Rule 329 - haematoma on shoulder. Stand down 7 days to 28.04.04. VC held. |
Race 2 | RACEWAY DASH - C1 - 375 | Farmer Benson stumbled on jumping and lost ground. BigBad Ben checked when squeezed in early running when seeking to cross to track inner. |
Race 3 | KARAPIRO DISTANCE - C1/2d - 747 | Calm Abiding moved swiftly to the front and cleared away from the field with an accomplished display. Kiwi Prince trailed the field early and made no improvement from there.Gold Jed flared wide down back straight - then crossed to place second entering home straight but failed to run on, not placing at finish. No 6 Soulstorm (P & L Henley). Rule 259 - supruspinatus soreness. Stand down 5 days to 25.04.04. Dog presented. VC held. |
Race 4 | SIXPACK STAKES - C1 - 457 | Hostile Girlie took early lead and held impressively to line. Gozo Reg finished on strongly for second. No 1 Dallas Ruby (M Earley). Rule 259 - toe injury. Stand down 30 days to 21.05.04. |

Race 6 | MANAWATU STAKES - C2 - 457 | The favourite Yallah Ebony proved too strong after claiming lead from Osboune and Someone rounding bend. Wild Whiz and Tiger Eyes in shoulder to shoulder contact in early running. Wild Whiz recovered well to place second at line. |
Race 7 | ADDINGTON STAKES - C5 - 375 | Blue Paragon blitzed away and left field in his wake, setting a new track record when hitting the line. The outer dogs bunched momentarily after the jump as Gold Amore moved across from the outside draw. |
Race 8 | MANUKAU STAKES - C5 - 457 | Some Joe was slow to start and tailed off somewhat to finish at the rear. Clock Stopper was the leader from the early stages until swamped in the last strides by Pilli Appeal and Dr Oscar. |
Race 9 | DUNEDIN DASH - C3/4 - 375 | Le Mans Song, a favoured runner, guided the field through to the straight entrance where he was quickly claimed by Nicholas Bale, that dog holding from there. Sumability Bale flared wide, remained there and raced at back throughout. No 3 Onslow Bale (GN Pomeroy). Rule 259 - toe bruising. Stand down 10 days to 1.05.04. Dog presented. VC held. |
Race 10 | CAMBRIDGE STAKES - C3/4 - 457 | Swift Appeal virtually without challenge in run to the line in track record time. |
