Race 1 TINT-A-CAR DASH - C1 - 318 Ali Phoenix, the reserve from box 2, was slow to start and did not feature from that point. Jazzie Jamie crossed early after the jump from box 7 and was in collision with Winsome Dough, that dog then forcibly pushing Jazzie Jamie out wide until Jazzie Jamie dropped back and tailed off - a post race examination revealed a severe injury and the greyhound was subject of a lengthy stand down. Robust Rock converted an early lead into a win. Smokin' Time flared wide entering the straight but still held for second. No 2 Awesome Tyler (DD Schofield). Rule 259 - dislocated front toe. Stand down 10 days to 22.04.04. VC held. No 7 Jazzie Jamie (M Earley). Rule 329 - hind leg fracture. Stand down 30 days to 13.05.04. VC held.
Race 2 COCA-COLA DASH - C1/2 - 318 Sue Van Gill surged swiftly to the front and held.
Race 3 CATERING PROFFESIONALS STAKES - C1 - 527 Flash Mistress took the lead after the jump and held strongly. Just The Don moved out from the track inner at the first bend, after contact with Splicklez who had moved off the rail - Just The Don continued out into the path of Stallone, impeding that dog and with Mister Zinger also being affected in his progress forward.
Race 4 ROYAL WOLF CONTAINERS STAKES - C1 - 527 Lazy Alex guided the field through the first bend and then kept up sustained run to the line. Gozo Reg finished strongly for second after being checked and being forced to jump sideways and scramble to regain momentum at the top of the back straight when racing towards the rear. .
Race 5 MEADOWSET GRAPHICS DASH - C3 - 318 Charmed Mahogany was slow to start but recovered well to finish just in behind the placed dogs. Brooklyn Ash stepped clear of trouble and sped away to the line. As the field entered the bend it was a rough house situation with first Poetical pressing hard up against Bahama Bale as they ran along together - then Tessa's Delight moved out and over the back of Poetical leaving that dog scrambling for her footing. Further on in the running, ahead of the dogs detailed, Wee Girl and Charmed Mahogany were scrambling against each other with the result that Boogie Woogie was checked and fell to the track. Boogie Woogie finished the race and was cleared of injury post race. .
Race 6 BELLBIRD TAVERN STAKES - C2 - 527 The favourite Super Tod was slow to start and did not really feature from that point.
Race 7 PROBLEM BUSTERS STAKES - C2/3 - 527 Almost A Dancer edged away to hold a margin in the early running and into the straight but was then swamped by the placed dogs in the run home.
Race 8 RADIO PACIFIC DASH - C4/5 - 318 Winsome Hope showed briefly then Never Time quickly set break and held well from that point. Moving out of the first bend Macain moved sharply off the rail onto Stanton Bale and Onslow Bale - Oakland Havoc, running alongside the bunch was then drawn into the tangle of dogs and fell heavily as a consequence. Oakland Havoc recovered his footing and finished. A post race veterinary examination revealed that Oakland Havoc was somewhat bruised but was not subject to a stand down - however Stanton Bale was found to have sustained a spike injury which did warrant such action. No 4 Stanton Bale (GN Pomeroy). Rule 329 - spike injury. Stand down 5 days to 18.04.04. VC held.
Race 9 NZ SIRES PRODUCE STAKES FINAL - R/Af - 527 Keenjackaroo and Coruba Storm put an early break on the field as they disputed the lead fiercely - the order remained such to the line. The favourite, Bankside Brat was all but knocked out of contention when Milanion was skewed sideways on moving across back of Turbo Royale and into the path of Bankside Brat - that dog then lept wide over the back of Milanion and lost ground. Bankside Brat came from a long way back in a late run for third.
Race 10 SUZANNE'S FAREWELL STAKES - C4/5 - 527 Idol Appeal sped away and held decisively. Dudley Dersley crossed after the jump to settle at the back of the field - running along until Dallas Apollo moved off the rail and shouldered Dudley Dersley - that dog then falling to the track. A post race check by the veterinary surgeon cleared Dudley Dersley, the dog having finished the race.
