Judicial report: Weather: Fine Race 2 - The trainer of Shinee Dan, Faye Farmer, elected to plead guilty to a charge that her greyhound had failed to pursue the lure at the start of this race. In terms of Rule 322 .1 (b) and 322.2.(a) Shinee Dan was suspended for one month to the 11 April 2004.

Race 1 MEADOWSET GRAPHICS DASH - C1 - 318 Go Tyler Go and Sue Van Gill came together shoulder to shoulder after the jump, then entering bend again came into side to side contact.
Race 2 JIMBO'S PETFOOD STAKES - C0 - 527 Terrigal Drive was up with foremost group - then moved off the rail sharply into the path of Towser, impeding Towser and causing him to go to the rear where he remained. Just Hasty, despite being checked slightly by Towser going back, went round leaders - entering the bend was in shoulder to shoulder contact with Keen Ace, but was still able to kick away strongly for the win. Shinee Dan was observed to have turned sharply and lunged at an inner dog immediately on jumping - this greyhound was the subject of a suspension following Stipendiary Steward action. No 7 Cryptic (K Walsh). Rule 259 - sore wrist on flexion. Stand down 7 days to 17.03.04. Dog presented. VC held.
Race 3 STREETS ICE CREAM DASH - C1 - 318 Real Silence was slow to start and only recovered to back of the field in the running. Ina Tizzy was positioned up with the leaders then suffered badly when squeezed for racing room and forced onto the rail, then fell to the track in front of Farmer John, impeding that dog's forward progress. Ina Tizzy was able to regain his footing and did finish the race - a post race veterinary examination cleared the dog of injury.
Race 4 RADIO PACIFIC SIX PACK STAKES - C4/5 - 527 Dr Oscar took an early lead and held well to the line. Some Joe was checked at the jump when Jessta Lilbit moved across sharply but made good ground along rail to challenge his kennel mate at the line.
Race 5 NZ COMMUNITY TRUST DASH - C2 - 318 Bally Angel showed up briefly but then began to drift to the back and made no further improvement. Little Toot skooted away for an easy win. .
Race 6 WWW.EXPOSURES.CO.NZ - WEBSITE HOSTING STAKES - C1 - 527 Dallas Ruby was slow to start and conceded early ground. Mr Bell in a runaway dash to the line for the win. No 8 Sharp Strike (McIntyre/Flowers). Under suspension.
Race 7 MAD BUTCHER DASH - C3/4 - 318 Onslow Bale set the early pace until Rumpole, after settling back in the initial stage, took a rails opportunity, stormed along inner and held decisively. Waitak Attack sustained a split web during the running and became subject to a stand down. No 2 Waitaki Attack (HS Laagland). Rule 329 - split web. Stand down 10 days to 20.03.04. VC held.
Race 8 SOUTHERN TRUST DASH - C5 - 318 My Toby and Miss Vegi Web in a fierce battle for the lead with the favourite Blue Paragon on their outer in a trailing position - My Toby then stepped clear and held well to the line. Blue Paragon finished on for second. Macain tried to move off the rail in the early running but was denied when squeezed as the field tightened up - Macain dropping towards the rear.
Race 9 DENNY'S RESTAURANT AUCKLAND CLASSIC FINAL - R/Af - 527 Clock Stopper and Trendy Rhode took the field out of the first bend with the favourite Winsome Shot settling in behind them - entering the final bend Winsome Shot shouldered past Clock Stopper, hit the front and held off a desperate late charge on the inner by Thrilling Heidi, the margin being a nose. The merit of the winner's effort was measured when it was revealed in a post race veterinary examination that he had sustained a dislocated toe during the running. No 2 Winsome Shot (GE Harding). Rule 329 - dislocated toe, ligament rupture. Stand down 10 days to 20.03.04. VC held.
Race 10 BELLBIRD ARMS STAKES - C2/3 - 527 Longest Drive and Almost A Dancer were in sharp contact at the first bend as field packed up - both dogs momentarily skewing off line - Almost A Dancer kept his momentum to lead down back straight, but was gathered in by Thomason, that dog looking likely winner until World Priorty stormed out of bend and went on to the line with ease.
