Judicial report: Weather: Fine A charge under Rule 322 (1) (b) was preferred against Trainer AC Roberts and his dog EUAN SUBRITZKY following Race 3 The Islington Tavern Sprint. That hearing was adjourned to be reconvened on Friday 12 March 2004, when Trainer AC Roberts would be present.

Race 1 WILSONS SPORTS BAR & TAB SPRINT - C0 - 295 Into the first corner CASTAWAY HAVOC struck the hindquarters of LYNNY LOU, both dogs losing ground with a resultant check to LOCKIE HANDCUFFS and SHORTIE HAVOC. CASTAWAY HAVOC ran on for third, with the other dogs finishing at the rear. GWINGANA TOKEN (PB Freeman) infection. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 259. 7 days up to and including 16 March 2004.
Race 2 COASTERS TAVERN STAKES - C0 - 520 Into the first corner the second favourite ASTRA NOMACOOL and FAULCONBRIDGE came together, with FAULCONBRIDGE losing momentum. MISS KELLY KAY ran wide around that corner, settling a distant last never improving during the running. ASTRA NOMACOOL ran on for third, with FAULCONBRIDGE finishing near the rear.
Race 3 ISLINGTON TAVERN SPRINT - C0 - 295 WHIPWHOP PATCH was slow to jump from the boxes settling last, running on for fourth. The favourite EUAN SUBRITZKY and NOT A WHEELER vied for the lead soon after jumping from the boxes, before EUAN SUBRITZKY drove clear around the top bend. In the approach to the home straight he eased, allowing NOT A WHEELER to take a clear lead, before EUAN SUBRITZKY fought back to win the event by half a length. A charge under Rule 322 (1) (b) was preferred against EUAN SUBRITZKY. The kennel representative Mr J Beresford elected to defend the charge and requested the matter be adjourned for trainer AC Roberts to be in attendance at the hearing. HOT SPOT (JV Busch) in season. Rule 258. 30 days up to and including 7 April 2004.
Race 4 ABRAHAMS SPORTS BAR STAKES - C1 - 520 HOMEBUSH SID was slow to jump from the boxes settling last, never improving in the running. The short priced favourite MRS PEEL jumped to the lead from the boxes, leading well into the home straight before compounding over the concluding stages to finish a close fifth.
Race 5 COALGATE TAVERN SPRINT - C1 - 295 LIFE'S A GAS was slow to jump from the boxes, settling last running on to finish mid field. Into the first corner CURRENT POWER struck the hindquarters of DR SCHUMACHER, taking OUR AFFAIR and WATTA FLYER wide on the track. These dogs never recovered from the incident, finishing at the rear of the field.
Race 6 BOWL AND JACK TAVERN SPRINT - C1 - 295 GUNNADOO LASS was slow to jump from the boxes settling last, however improved into the first corner tightening dogs on his outer, with severe checks to TAR SEAL and LIGHT FROST. These two dogs never recovered from the incident, finishing some distance behind the field.
Race 7 EXCELSIOR SPORTS BAR STAKES - C1 - 520 Into the first corner INTO THE BLUE and ICE FERN ran wide, losing all chance. INTO THE BLUE drifted right out over the concluding stages to finish a distant last and she was checked by the Club Veterinarian who detected nothing amiss. Trainer JF Allen was shown the race film and in explanation stated that INTO THE BLUE had only recently recovered from a seasonal complaint and appeared to have tied up over the concluding stages. KIWI NIKO (AC Roberts) stress fracture of right hind fibula. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 259. 10 days up to and including 19 March 2004.
Race 8 THE MILLER BAR & CAFE SPRINT - C1 - 295 APHRODITE QUEEN the third favourite dwelt slightly at the start, however recovered quickly to race outside the leader MY PERK before running that dog down over the concluding stages to win the event. Trainer M Bunny was shown the race film and advised to improve APHRODITE QUEEN'S racing manners.
Race 9 COFFEE CLUB ON HALSWELL STAKES - C1 - 520 VAL'S FELLA was slow to jump from the boxes, settling last never improving during the running.
Race 10 FAMOUS GROUSE - LINCOLN SPRINT - C1 - 295 HOMEBUSH BOY was slow to jump from the boxes settling last, however improved into the first corner before being checked as a result of general tightening, along with FATAL OBSESSION and TOP NOTCH CONNIE. These dogs never recovered, filling the last three places.
