Judicial report: Weather: Fine Race 10 - The trainer's representative for Cawbourne Pat, Brent Coull for JT McInerney, elected to plead guilty to a charge of fighting brought against that greyhound. In terms of Rule 322(1) (a) and 322 (2) (a), Cawbourne Pat was suspended for one month, and required to undertake a satisfactory trial in terms of Rule 179 before racing again.
The co-trainer of Sharp Strike, Ken Flowers, elected to enter a plea of guilty to a charge that his greyhound failed to pursue the lure during the running of the race, and in terms of Rules 322 (1) (b) and 322 (2) (a), was suspended for one month, and required to undertake a satisfactory trial under Rule 179 before racing again.

Race 1 HAMILTON DISTANCE - C1d - 630 The hot favourite Egyptian Gold took field out of first bend, led down back and held until straight entrance where the trailing Super Tod challenged strongly and took race in last strides. Hostile Deed trailed off in early running and a post race veterinary examination revealed a hock injury - the greyhound was the subject of a stand down. No 3 Hostile Deed (GA Lawrence). Rule 329 - hock strain. Stand down 10 days to 18.03.04. VC held.
Race 2 CAMBRIDGE MAIDEN HEAT 1 - C0q - 457 Heat 1 A sustained late run by Black Tibet, on debut, saw him claim the early pacemaker, Just Hasty, right on the line. Mystery Name showed early speed to be positioned handy with the leaders but was then galloped on by Ceramic - Mystery Name went to the rear and was out of contention.
Race 3 CLUB HOUSE CAFE & BAR DASH - C0 - 375 Grasscutter Bob was noticaebly slow, conceding ground. Black Tyler took the lead early and held well to the line. Pizza Bad Boy fell during the running when racing midfield and having been subjected to the field tightening about him. The dog leapt to his feet and finished the race. A post race veterinary examination cleared him of injury.
Race 4 CAMBRIDGE MAIDEN HEAT 2 - C0q - 457 Heat 1 Cryptic led after the jump - with Thrilling Zack in close pursuit. Down the home straight Thrilling Zack went past the pacemaker and was drawing away at the line. Towser was slow to start, conceded ground and finished at the rear.
Race 5 GROUP ONE TURF BAR DASH - C1 - 375 Race clear. .
Race 6 CAMBRIDGE MAIDEN HEAT 3 - C0q - 457 Heat 1 The favourite Hostile Girlie showed speed in initial stage of race, holding until Thrilling Duke crossed from the outside draw to dispute the lead. As these two dogs went forward Thrilling Duke climbed over the back of Hostile Girlie, skewing that dog sideways and going down on his nose as he did so - both dogs recovered quickly and were still able to fill the first two places, Thrilling Duke prevailing.
Race 7 HILLCREST TAVERN DASH - C1 - 375 Go Tyler Go took the lead early with Lucky Lipinski in close pursuit - this order was the same at the line. Enrollment was squeezed for racing room in the middle stages and did well to finish on late for third. Farmer John and Mr Luke came into sharp shoulder contact entering the final bend but both dogs were then at rear and not really in concention.
Race 8 IMPORVERS STAKES - C1 - 457 Basil Faulty took field into bend - holding lead until Bozo Fulton took inner running and raced away to the line. Lumos Obliviate ran past a tiring Basil Faulty for second.
Race 9 DINSDALE TAVERN DASH - C2 - 375 The favourite, Faithful Mittens, slow to start, made no impact on the field from that point. Little Toot cleared away from the field for an impressive win.
Race 10 JONELLE ALLEN AT STUD STAKES - C1 - 457 Mr Bell began quickly and led until barged off the track by Cawbourne Pat - Cawbourne Pat then struck out and made repeated contact with Mr Bell as that dog sought to rejoin the race. During this melee Sharp Strike left the body of the field and ran over to the side of the track to join Mr Bell and Cawbourne Pat. Both Cawbourne Pat and Sharp Strike were subjected to charges post race - with suspensions being imposed on both greyhounds as the result. No 3 Cawbourne Pat ( JT McInerney). Suspended in terms of Rule 322 (2) (a) for one month to 09.04.04. No 7 Sharp Strike (McIntyre/Flowers). Suspended in terms of Rule 322 (2) (a) for one month to 09.04.04.
Race 11 DINSDALE TAVERN DASH - C3 - 375 Le Mans Song was positioned handy to lead until being buffeted whilst out wide, then drifted to rear.
Race 12 PAPAMOA TAVERN SPRINT - C4/5 - 375 Seven starters. Puzzling Riddle was slow from the outside draw and trailed the field home. Cawbourne Jack proved superior to the favourite, Aston Marshal, in their duel down the home straight. No 6 Wee Silver Star ( B & L Craik). Rule 259. Stand down 10 days to 17.03.04. VC held. No 7 Oakland Havoc (P & L Henley). Rule 259 - strained shoulder muscle. Stand down 10 days to 17.03.04. VC held. No 10 Token Warrior (MD McDonell). Withdrawn with valid reason.
Race 13 GOBIS CLUB BONUS SERIES HEAT 1 - RESq - 457 Heat 1 Tempest Hove was the early leader until gathered in by field at end of the bend - entering the straight a wall of 5 dogs fanned out across track - Muslie Man's challenge was the strongest as he raced down track outer to win. Osbourne was checked in the early stages when he moved off the rail and was galloped on by Homebush Bill.
Race 14 GOBIS CLUB BONUS SERIES HEAT 2 - RESq - 457 Heat 1 Race clear.
Race 15 GOBIS CLUB BONUS SERIES HEAT 3 - RESq - 457 Heat 1 Sunset Coast, the favourite, loped along towards the rear after shoulder to shoulder contact with Golden Lobo, that dog having pushed Sunset Coast wide earlier. No 1 Mr Paterson (M Earley). Rule 259 - diarrhoea. Stand down 5 days to 12.03.04. Dog presented. VC held. No 7 Graeshar's Boy (G Calverley). Rule 259 - Pectoral tear/hock strain. Stand down 10 days to 17.03.04. Dog presented. VC held.
Race 16 TE RAPA TAVERN STAKES - C2/3 - 457 Token Sniper, the reserve from box 4, was the early leader and held decisively. Two greyhounds, Winsome Escape and Knockabout Dougy, sustained severe injuries during the running and were both subject of 30 day stand downs. No 4 Dot Matrix (S Ross). Rule 259 - hock strain. Stand down 14 days to 20.03.04. Dog presented. VC held. No 1 Winsome Escape (MD McDonnell). Rule 329 - fracture in lower hind leg. Stand down 30 days to 07.04.04. VC held. No 8 Knockabout Dougy (K Walsh). Rule 329 - metacarpal fracture.Stand down 30 days to 07.04.04. VC held.
