Judicial report: Weather: Hot humid conditions. Trainer RS Parker was fined $100.00 in accordance with a breach of Rule 269(3) in respect of FERRIS BALE being 1.6kgs under his last race start weight.

Race 1 PEDIGREE ADVANCE STAKES - C1 - 520 HOMEBUSH SIMON, HOT RED MINI and AQUA COSTI were badly checked as a result of general tightening into the first corner. AQUA COSTI ran on well over the concluding stages for fourth, with the other two dogs finishing at the rear of the field.
Race 2 GARRARDS HORSE & HOUND STAKES - C0 - 520 The short priced favourite SLENDER MAREE jumped quickly to lead and won the event easily. Into the first corner WAVE THE FERN, BLACKHEATH SCOT and CHOSEN FELLA came together when racing at the rear of the field, losing momentum. CHOSEN FELLA finished strongly for third, with BLACKHEATH SCOT finishing some distance behind the field. He was checked by the Club Veterinarian who detected nothing amiss.
Race 3 BILLS BAR & BISTRO SPRINT - C1 - 295 MELTING POT and KING LOUIS were slow to jump from the boxes, settling at the rear of the field. Into the first corner TURBO JEWEL ran away from the rail, checking CALL ME NELSON, OUR AFFAIR, TOP NOTCH CONNIE, an improving KING LOUIS and the favourite GLEN HAVOC. CALL ME NELSON ran on for third with the other dogs finishing at the rear of the field. As a result of this incident MELTING POT obtained a dream passage along the rail to get up and win the event easily.
Race 4 ABRAHAM'S SPORTS BAR SPRINT - C0 - 295 AMAZING MAYZEE was very slow to jump from the boxes, losing 4-5 lengths and never improving during the running. Into the first corner BALMAR BLUE struck the hindquarters of HOT SPOT, both dogs losing momentum finishing amongst the tail enders.
Race 5 BARRONS SUPPLIES STAKES - C1 - 520 TOP BRASS and MARIO SCENARIO were slow to jump from the boxes, settling at the rear of the field. In the approach to the first corner YORKED AGAIN struck the hindquarters of DR NOAKES, losing his footing and almost falling. He lost ground as a result, settlingmid field, never improving during the running. Into the home straight HONEY'S MEMORY ran wide, forcing DR NOAKES on his outer over further ground. MARIO SCENARIO finished strongly from mid field to get up and win the event impressively from an unlucky DR NOAKES.
Race 6 WINNING EDGE SPRINT - C1 - 295 SAMMY HAVOC eased to last soon after jumping from the boxes, finishng sixth. Around the corner MOLLY D'LOON ran wide, taking MARIA HANOVER with her. Both dogs lost all chance, filling the last two places.
Race 7 SUPERPETS SPRINT - C0 - 295 Into the first corner the favourite CURRENT POWER was tightened between dogs, coming back on a trailing SMART HAVOC and FOX OF OZARK. CURRENT POWER ran on for third with the other two dogs finishing towards the rear of the field.
Race 8 WILSONS SPORTS BAR STAKES - C1 - 520 Around the first corner MAID OF QUEEN and SYDNEY'S LEGEND came together for a number of strides, before MAID OF QUEEN drove to the lead running on to win the event. Across the top PAREORA PEARL and SYDNEY'S LEGEND came together for some distance, with SYDNEY'S LEGEND losing his footing and almost falling. PAREORA PEARL finished sixth, with SYDNEY'S LEGEND a distant last. He was checked by the Club Veterinarian who detected no injuries. TOKEN CHARM (J&D Fahey) right hock sprain. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 259. 14 days up to and including 15 February 2004. MR MUG (BC Dann) stood down at Christchurch GRC meeting on 30 January 2004. Rule 329. 14 days up to and including 12 February 2004. MILKY LABRI (Adcock/Hopping) diarrhoea. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 259. 5 days up to and including 7 February 2004.
Race 9 SHIRLEY VETERINARY CENTRE SPRINT - C1 - 295 All clear.
Race 10 COASTERS TAVERN STAKES - C0 - 520 Across the topan improving SEPTEMBER STORM tightened HOMEBUSH SID and MULBERRY BEAN on his inner, both dogs losing momentum. MULBERRY BEAN recovered to run third, with HOMEBUSH SID finishing towards the rear of the field. SEPTEMBER STORM ran way to win the race easily.
Race 11 MILLER BAR & CAFE SPRINT - C0 - 295 GRACE HAVOC was slow to jump from the boxes, settling near the rear of the field. Into the first corner NORTHERN PEARL ran outwards, checking MISS NEMINBO on her outer who drifted back through the field Into the home straight NORTHERN PEARL ran very wide, finishing on for a distant third. JUMP START ran wide around the entire bend, finishing last. HOMEBUSH WISH (JT McInerney) scratched at Christchurch GRC meeting on 30 January 2004. Rule 259. 5 days up to and including 3 February 2004.
Race 12 ISLINGTON TAVERN DISTANCE - C1/2d - 732 BLUE FERN and WASTE BIN were slow to jump from the boxes, with BLUE FERN recovering quickly to race mid field, with WASTE BIN settling well back. At the end of the back straight an improving CLISTON BONNIE checked out off the hindquarters of TOKEN GENIUS, losing momentum. She finished on fairly for fourth, with TOKEN GENIUS finishing near the rear. BLUE FERN ran on for second with WASTE BIN well back. AQUA VAN (JR Goode) left hock sprain. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 259. 7 days up to and including 7 February 2004.
Race 13 EXCELSIOR SPORTS BAR STAKES - C2 - 520 All clear.
Race 14 CONTAINER DIRECT SPRINT - C2 - 295 Into the first corner SCENIC DELIGHT checked off the hindquarters of ULTRAVOX, coming back and checking HOMEBUSH JASON, KEV THE ALIEN, HIT A HOMER and TIPPED TOP. They never recovered from the incident with the remaining three dogs skipping clear to fill the placings.
Race 15 LAMB AND HAYWARD STAKES - C3/4 - 520 BACK EAR JACK was checked as a result of tightening by dogs on his outer into the first corner, settling last, however he finished strongly in the straight for second, albeit some 7 1/2 lengths from the winner WAR TOKEN. Soon after this incident PRIVATE BEN struck the hindquarters of MEGA BYTES losing momentum. Into the home straight HONEST BIRD was tightened when endeavouring to improve between TURBO ROYALE and MEGA BYTES, finishing fifth. FERRIS BALE (RS Parker) was a late scratching at kennelling when found to be 1.6kgs under his last race start. Rule 269(3). Trainer Parker fined $100.00.
Race 16 GEORGE CALVERT CLEANING SPRINT - C3/4 - 295 GRAND MOVER and DR MURDOCH were tightened into the first corner, settling at the rear of the field never improving.
Race 17 COFFEE CLUB ON HALSWELL SPRINT - C3 - 295 Around the first bend TINKER'S TOSS struck the hindquarters of DR COSMO, drifting back to last never improving during the running. The favourite HAWK DREAMER went to the lead from the inside box leading all the way to win well.
Race 18 BOWL AND JACK STAKES - C1 - 520 SHINING SKOOT and HYDE THE SHOE eased as a result of general tightening soon after the jump settling at the rear of the field and never improving.
Race 19 RACEWAY STAKES - C5 - 520 All clear.
Race 20 FAREWELL SPRINT - C5 - 295 Across the top ENLIGHTENING was tightened between dogs losing all chance finishing last. The short priced favourite CORDU BALE jumped to the lead and was never headed winning easily. FLIGHTY (MM Grant) diarrhoea. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 259. 5 days up to and including 7 February 2004.
