Incident Reports

Race Number Race Name Incident Report
Race 1 CATERING PROFESSIONALS DASH - C1 - 318 Opening Time took over the lead from Lucy Loose in the early stages and the two dogs finished in that same order. Winsome Eels moved out sharply from box 3 after the jump and caused considerable tightening of all the outer dogs - Ima Scoundrel in particular being squeezed back and put out of contention. At the bottom of the straight Winsome Eels moved across from the track outer towards the rail and in so doing shouldered the rump of Lucy Loose, causing that dog to skew her head sideways for a fraction before regaining her stride. No 6 Awesome Tyler (DD Schofield). Rule 259 - enlarged tonsils. Stand down 10 days to 08.02.04. VC held.
Race 2 STREETS ICE-CREAM MAIDEN FINAL - C0f - 527 Supreme Jester was quickly to the front and guided field down back straight until Supreme Bet took control and ran away to win with ease. Just Hasty was checked and ranged wide at rear at the first bend when Patience Is bounced off inner dogs and out onto him - Just Hasty recovered well to round the field down the back straight and get up for second in the run home. No 5 Certainly (L Nixon). Rule 258. Stand down 30 days to 27.02.04. No 9 Stallone (G Calverley). Rule 259. Stand down 10 days to 06.02.04. VC held.
Race 3 BELLBIRD ARMS SPRINT FINAL - C1f - 318 Poetical and Satara disputed the lead into the straight where Poetical kicked on for the win whilst Satara veered out wide and into contact with Walton Bale - both of those dogs then moving back towards the rail whilst in shoulder to shoulder contact. Neither dog finished in the placings.
Race 4 MEADOWSET GRAPHICS STAKES - C1 - 527 Hostile Deed, the reserve from box 6, went wide at the first bend then crossed sharply to the rail causing considerable tightening and bunching behind her - Nature of Monkey and Token Sniper losing any real chance at that point, when both flared wide and trailed the field home. No 6 Unlawful Lass (SP Clark). Rule 258. Stand down 30 days to 26.02.04.
Race 5 JIMBO'S PETFOODS DASH - C2/3 - 318 Bahama Bale was the quickest from the jump and held the lead until Rumpole, who had been squeezed between Allegro Flight and Shar Nazir after the jump surged away from his position third on the rail to take the lead entering the straight and held strongly to the line. .
Race 6 FRIDAY FLASH STAKES - C2/3 - 527 The favourite Gold Jed missed the jump badly and raced at the rear throughout. Top Allegro surged impresively down the straight to win. No 8 Jesta Lilbit (Caffell/Jackson). Rule 259. Stand down 10 days to 06.02.04. VC held.
Race 7 RADIO PACIFIC DASH - C4/5 - 318 Macain took over from the early pacemaker Let Me, and despite flaring wide at the bottom of the straight and covering extra ground, raced well enough to hold the lead to the line. Cawbourne Jack appeared to dip down on his hind quarters in the early running and conceded ground at that point.
Race 8 AUCKLAND OAKS - R/A - 527 Auckland Oaks. This race was delayed until 10.27pm, after originally being scheduled for a 9.25 start, when the course electrician, on checking a failed bank of lights on a standard near to the 318m start boxes, switched off the banks on each side of the failed bank to access and determine the fault. The trainers assembled at the start appropriately raised concerns as to the lack of lighting and requested that the start be delayed until the banks adjacent to the faulty bank were re-ignited, a process which, together with the TAB rescheduling the programme in unison with other racing, caused the delay to this and the following races. Bitter Sammy led in to the first bend and raced away with a strong margin from that point - holding until claimed in the final strides by Mean Tyler. No 1 Winsome Molly (GE Harding). Rule 259 - strained back muscle. Stand down 10 days to 06.02.04. VC held.
Race 9 ROYAL WOLF CONTAINERS AUCKLAND DERBY - R/Af - 527 Auckland Derby. Winsome Shot surged away from the field down the back straight and ran unchallenged to the line with a display of power running.
Race 10 COMMERCIAL PLUMBING DASH - C4 - 318 Yalah Pearl was checked by Never Time in the early running whilst towards the rear and made no improvement from that point.
