Race 2 | HEADS ROAD VETERINARY DASH - C1 - 305 | CHALKE'S HONCHO was a late scratching when found to be suffering from heat stress and a 5 day stand down was ordered. DOCTOR FLYNT was scratched due to a spike wound on a webbing. FAITHFUL MOTH was scratched due to a puncture wound to the right fore foot. STRATHBURN LAD moved across on the first corner and was galloped on by SECRET PRINCE with both dogs dropping back quickly to the rear. Race 3 | DISPLAY ASSOCIATES DASH - C2 - 305 | HOMEBUSH GEORGE was slow to begin and settled in last place. LION RED CAPP, WEE GIRL and HURRICANE FOG were jostled and checked on the first corner when HOMEBUSH SHADOW moved in from a wide draw. They never recovered and finished well back. |
Race 4 | BRYCE FRANCIS GRAPHICS - C1 - 520 | GOTTA BOLD BOY was slow to begin and raced well back throughout. The vets inspection revealed some pain in a shoulder muscle and a 10 day spell was ordered. One of the favourites WHITNEY O'CEIRIN was checked on the first corner and dropped back to last and stayed there. The vets inspection failed to reveal any injuries at that time. GOTTA BOLD BOY. Race 6 | ANDERSONS FOR MEN FEATURE STAKES - R/A - 520 | BURN THE PEG was checked on the first corner and dropped back to last. The favourite THRILLING SAM was checked entering the back straight and lost about three lengths. He recovered to finish on for second placing. Race 7 | EXCEED DISTANCE - C1d - 645 | The favourite BLUE FERN was slowest away but raced through to be handy by the second corner. She then had trouble clearing the heels of RAZOR ROBERTSON on the final bend but once around that runner she went on for an easy win. CHILLI CREEK jumped in at the start and jostled ANDERSON BALE, ICE FERN and JEMALONG BRUISER for a few strides. |
Race 8 | DOUBLE-S MOTORDROME WANGANUI CUP - C5 - 520 | The well supported HOT AGENT began very awkwardly and lost all chance of a placing. WINSOME VEIN, PILLI APPEAL, THUNDER CREEK and TOKEN EGO bumped together and lost ground soon after the start. |
Race 9 | METEOR PRINTERS STAKES - C3/4 - 520 | TYRONE'S STAR was a late scratching when the Club Secretary ommitted to scratch the dog when advised that it was injured and as a result, the first reserve failed to gain a start. The Secretary was cautioned and advised that a repeat would result in him being charged under the Rules. The well supported SMART JACK was bumped going into the first corner and dropped quickly back to last and stayed there. A close watch will be kept on the dogs keenness to race in the future. Race 10 | ELITE CATERING SPRINT - C5 - 305 | CORDU BALE ran onto the heels of ASTON MARSHALL on the bend and both were inconvenienced but recovered to finish first and second. Bumping in the back straight resulted in DIPPENAAR and ALLEGRO BEAM losing ground. |
