Judicial report: Weather: Fine and hot conditions. An enquiry surrounding the scratching of AQUA COSTI in Race 4 under Rule: 257 was opened and adjourned pending further inquiries.

Race 1 | PEDIGREE ADVANCE SPRINT - C2 - 295 | The favourite PETITE JEWEL was slow to jump from the outside box, settling last and when endeavouring to improve around the corner, came in contact with SCENIC DELIGHT who ran outwards. SUGAR SWEET ran wide on turning into the home straight losing momentum, finishing at the rear of the field with the other two dogs. |
Race 2 | CONTAINERS DIRECT STAKES - C1 - 520 | DARK SLIDER was slow to jump from the outside box, settling last, however ran on well in the home straight for fourth. |
Race 3 | THE ROCK ROLLESTON STAKES - C0 - 520 | Into the first corner BLACK HEATH SCOT struck the hindquarters of LUCY SWIFT losing momentum, never improving during the running. HOMEBUSH SPOT ran wide around both bends, losing momentum finishing fifth. |
Race 4 | COALGATE TAVERN - C1 - 520 | The short priced favourite THRILLING FLOYD dwelt at the start, however recovered quickly racing to the lead into the first corner, running away to win the event easily. At the first corner TOP BRASS was tightened between dogs coming back on BEDAZZLED JEWEL and HOMEBUSH BILL, all three dogs being checked and filling the last three places. MR CARD (BC Dann) tear adjacent to right front dew claw. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 259. 10 days up to and including 8 January 2004. AQUA COSTI (JR Goode) enquiry opened under Rule 257 and adjourned. |
Race 5 | LAMB AND HAYWARD STAKES - C0 - 520 | The third favourite CONSENT stood in the boxes losing 6-7 lengths, however caught the field into the first corner, running wide down the back straight to finish an excellent fourth. Into the first corner the favourite ANDERSON BALE and HOMEBUSH SIMON were checked as a result of general tightening, settling back before ANDERSON BALE checked out off the hindquarters of the improving CONSENT. He ran wide down the back straight finishing strongly in the run in for second. WILMA RUDOLPH who was in third position entering the first corner, drifted out over the concluding stages of the event to finish a distant last. She was checked by the Club Veterinarian who detected nothing amiss. Trainer A Joyce was shown the race film and advised that there would need to be an improvement in the dogs next race start. HOMEBUSH MARGARET (TW Cairns) infected left hind toe. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 259. 10 days up to and including 6 January 2004. |
Race 6 | ISLINGTON TAVERN SPRINT - C0 - 295 | GLEN HAVOC ran outwards from the boxes, coming in contact with the favourite SOUTHBROOK STAR on his outer. Both dogs continued to jostle for a number of strides, and into the first corner an improving SOUTHBROOK STAR came in contact with SHORTIE HAVOC who sustained a bad check, running wide and taking GLEN HAVOC with her. These two dogs never recovered finishing at the rear of the field, with SOUTHBROOK STAR finishing on for fifth. She was checked by the Club Veterinarian who detected nothing amiss. SUZIE HAVOC (JV Busch) in season. Rule 258. 30 days up to and including 30 January 2004. |
Race 7 | WINNING EDGE STAKES - C1 - 520 | XAVIER'S STAR was tightened by dogs on his outer into the first corner, settling last finishing seventh. Across the top and into the home straight MR MUG and SEASPRAY ROCK came together on a number of occasions, with MR MUG drifting out to finish a distant last. He was checked by the Club Veterinarian who detected no injury. |
Race 8 | ROCKCOTE SPRINT - C1 - 295 | WHATA TEX was checked when vying for the lead with WEE AMY LEIGH, however recovered to win the event easily. As a result of the incident WEE AMY LEIGH ran wide taking FATAL OBSESSION and KIWI KID wide on the track with her. She finished strongly in the straight for second. Turning into the straight KIWI KID and FATAL OBSESSION came together, checking MY PERK and LIFE'S A GAS. These dogs finished at the rear of the field. |
Race 9 | KOLORFUL KANVAS SPRINT - C1 - 295 | TOP NOTCH CONNIE jumped to the lead, which she never surrendered to win the event well. Into the first corner OZARK'S GUMBOOT and KING LOUIS ran wide, both dogs losing ground. KING LOUIS ran on strongly in the straight for fifth, with OZARK'S GUMBOOT finishing last. |
Race 10 | COFFEE CLUB ON HALSWELL STAKES - C0 - 520 | Soon after jumping from the boxes BURNHAM POWER, KATOOMBA, HOMEBUSH RUBY, CHOSEN FELLA and HOMEBUSH FIN were badly checked as a result of tigntening by CLAN HAVOC coming over from his outside draw. They never recovered from the incident, finishing at the rear of the field. MILKY LABRI the short priced favourite escaped the skirmish winning the event easily from CLAN HAVOC and CHOSEN FELLA. A charge under Rule: 322 (1) (a) was preferred against CLAN HAVOC . CLAN HAVOC was stood down for a period of 1 month under Rule: 322 (2) (a). BURNHAM POWER who came in contact with the running rail as a result of the early skirmish, was examined by the Club Veterinarian and found to have sustained a wound to his left fore calf, which required sutures. A stand down period of 10 days was recommended. BURNHAM POWER (JA McMillan) Rule: 329. 10 days up to and including 8 January 2004. CLAN HAVOC (HG Cairns) Rule: 322 (2) (a). 1 month up to and including 30 January 2004 and to undertake a satisfactory trial. |
Race 11 | ADDINGTON RACEWAY SPRINT - C1 - 295 | MELTING POT was tightened soon after jumping from the boxes, settling at the rear of the field, never improving. |
Race 12 | HAPPY NEW YEAR SPRINT - C0 - 295 | MATERIAL GIRL was slow to jump from the boxes, settling last finishing fifth. Into the first corner WHIPWHOP PATCH checked out off the hindquarters of WITH MUCH ADO, losing momentum. SWIFT BRUTUS ran wide around the bend, checking SMART HAVOC, these dogs finishing at the rear of the field. |
