Judicial report: Weather: Overcast but warm conditions. A charge under Rule 294(1)(b) was preferred against handler BJ WEDERELL. He elected to plead guilty to the charge and was fined $50.00 by the Judicial Officer.

Race 1 | PEDIGREE ADVANCE SPRINT - C0 - 295 | BALMAR BLUE was slow to jump from the boxes, settling last. Around the first corner LIFE'S A GAS ran outwards after checking off the hindquarters of MOLLY D'LOON, taking an improving BALMAR BLUE and HOMEBUSH WISH wide on the track. These dogs never recovered from this incident, filling the last three places. |
Race 2 | ROCKCOTE STAKES - C1 - 520 | DE MAYO stood in the boxes losing 5-6 lengths, never improving during the running. Across the top the favourite RAILROAD TRUMP who was in third position, was tightened by an improving ASHCROFT BALE losing momentum and finishing fourth. ASHCROFT BALE ran on for a close second. YALLAH GEM (M&J Jopson) deceased. |
Race 3 | ABRAHAMS SPORTS BAR SPRINT - C0 - 295 | CURRENT POWER who drew Box 1, jumped half a length behind the field, however improved along the rail in the approach to the first corner, coming in contact with MATERIAL GIRL, both dogs losing ground. On turning for home CURRENT POWER ran outwards, coming in contact with MATERIAL GIRL and HOMEBUSH JUNIOR. CURRENT POWER and MATERIAL GIRL ran on to finish just behind the place getters, with HOMEBUSH JUNIOR finishing second to last. DREAMCHASER (D Kingston) stood down at Wellington GRC meeting on 5 December 2003. Rule 322(1)(a). 30 days up to and including 3 January 2004. |
Race 4 | BARRON'S SUPPLIES STAKES - C0 - 520 | BLACKHEATH SCOT was slow to jump from the boxes, settling last. Around the first corner BOMBER BELLE and SMART HAVOC came together for a number of strides before BOMBER BELLE moved in towards the rail, coming in contact with CYBIL DEFENCE. BOMBER BELLE ran on well over the concluding stages to get up and win the event, with CYBIL DEFENCE finishing fourth. BLACKHEATH SCOT never recovered from his slow start, finishing at the rear of the field. |
Race 5 | WINNING EDGE STAKES - C1 - 520 | After an even dispatch KELLBRETT JEMMA tightened PAREORA PEARL into the first corner, resulting in PAREORA PEARL being hit from behind by a trailing XAVIER'S STAR. Both dogs lost considerable ground, however completed the event some distance behind the body of the field. |
Race 6 | BILLS BAR & BISTRO SPRINT - C1 - 295 | All clear. APHRODITE QUEEN (M Bunny) puncture wound to right fore foot. Dog resented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 259. 7 days up to and including 13 December 2003. JEMALONG BAILEY (GA Cleeve) right fore toe rupture. Rule 257. 30 days up to and including 7 January 2004. |
Race 7 | SUPERPETS STAKES - C1 - 520 | ZINGER'S REVENGE was slow to jump, settling last, finishing amongst the tail enders. Entering the first corner the favourite MISS BLUE VELVET, CLISTON BONNIE and AQUA COSTI were checked. MISS BLUE VELVET ran on strongly for third, with the other dogs finishing at the end of the field. |
Race 8 | WILSONS SPORTS BAR STAKES - C0 - 520 | CHOSEN FELLA was slow to jump from the boxes, settling last. Into the first corner HONEY'S MEMORY tightened WILMA RUDOLPH and HOMEBUSH SIMON as he drove down towards the rail. The trailing favourite ENTHRALL struck the hindquarters of HOMEBUSH SIMON, careering outwards into the path of SHINING SKOOT and CHOSEN FELLA. SHINING SKOOT ran on well for third, with the other dogs finishing towards the rear of the field. |
Race 9 | COASTERS TAVERN SPRINT - C1 - 295 | Into the first corner the favourite MAY WELL BE was tightened by dogs on her outer, coming back on a trailing KIWI KID. Both dogs lost all chance, finishing towards the rear of the field. DUSTY DROVER and VENETIA SHINES settled last after jumping from the boxes, never improving their positions during the race. |
Race 10 | SHIRLEY VETERINARY CENTRE STAKES - C1 - 520 | Into the first corner CRAZY MIKE struck the hindquarters of INDICATIVE, forcing INDICATIVE to run inwards into the path of the favourite ULTIMATE MOVER. That resulted in UNTIMATE MOVER moving outwards sharply, into the path of SPOT THE LOT, who in turn was forced into the path of POLLY ABACUS. The second favourite CHALLENGER BALE also sustained a check as a result of the incident. POTENTIAL ROGUE and FLY BYE ANGEL both avoided this skirmish, with FLY BYE ANGEL skipping clear to win the event easily from POTENTIAL ROGUE, with CHALLENGER BALE finishing on well for third. |
Race 11 | COFFEE CLUB ON HALSWELL SPRINT - C1 - 295 | Into the first corner CECILIA LUGER and ATOMIC BLONDE were checked as a result of general tightening. Soon after this incident TRAVELLIN' JACK ran wide, taking MISTY PRIDE and MULBERRY ACE wide on the track with him. They never recovered from this incident, filling the last three places, with CECILIA LUGER and ATOMIC BLONDE running on for fourth and fifth respectively. |
Race 12 | HALSWELL TAVERN STAKES - C1 - 520 | SET AGLOW drifted to last by the time the field reached the first corner drifting further during the running to finish nine lengths behind the second to last dog. She was checked by the Club Veterinarian who detected nothing amiss. ESTEEM (M&J Jopson) diarrhoea. Dog presented. Veterinary certificate supplied. Rule 259. 5 days up to and including 12 December 2003. |
Race 13 | COALGATE TAVERN STAKES - C0 - 520 | TUDOR QUEEN was slow to jump from the boxes settling last finishing seventh. ANDERSON BALE settled last into the back straight however finished strongly in the run home for a distant third. |
Race 14 | EXCELSIOR SPORTS BAR STAKES - C0 - 520 | All clear. HOMEBUSH FLUE (JT McInerney) stood down at Wellington GRC meeting on 5 December 2003. Rule 256(b). 30 days up to and including 4 January 2004. |
Race 15 | ANGLER'S ARMS STAKES - C2 - 520 | THOMASON was slow to jump settling last however obtained a run along the rail around the first corner to settle midfield. At the end of the back straight he struck the hindquarters of the favourite INSIDE COVER both dogs losing all chance, finishing amongst the tail enders. WORLD PRIORITY (J&D Fahey) stood down at Christchurch GRC meeting on 4 December 2003. Rule 259. 7 days up to asnd including 10 December 2003. |
Race 16 | LAMB & HAYWARD SPRINT - C1 - 295 | The second favourite ONE BACK drifted to last soon after jumping from the boxes. Into the first corner MELTING POT came back with resultant checks to HIT A HOMER, SYDNEY'S LEGEND, and ONE BACK. These dogs nver recovered finishing at the rear of the field. |
