Incident Reports

Race Number Race Name Incident Report
Race 1 TXT4TIPS (M9 R? 8477) - C1/2 - 525 TUSCANY BALE and TROYBADOR were slow away and settled at the rear. The favourite MISS TEDDY BEAR was forced to race wide after drawing box eight and only battled into 6th place. The dog was having its first start on the track and would probably benefit from the experience.
Race 2 IMPROVERS SPRINT FINAL - C1f - 295 OUR MICK moved across from a wide draw and tightened several runners with SAI PHAR and CECILIA LUGER the worst affected and they settled at the rear. TEDDY TYLER, OUR MICK and HOMEBUSH JET were checked on the bend as BIXBY O'SHEA dropped back and they lost momentum and stayed well back.
Race 3 WELLINGTON DERBY - HEAT 1 - R/Aq - 525 Heat 1 JETSET TOKEN was scratched due to a back muscle injury and will spell for 30 days. TURBO ROYALE was scratched Ex Addington on 26.11.03. TIGHNABRUICH drew box six and ran in from the start and tightened all runners on its inside for a few strides. HERE'S FREDDIE ran wide on the first bend and pushed JO JO SAM over extra ground. JETSET TOKEN. Trainer Caffell and Jackson. Rule 259 Suffering from a back muscle injury. 30 day stand down to 26.12.03. TURBO ROYALE. Trainer A.Roberts. Ex Christchurch on 26.11.03.
Race 4 EMPIRE HOTEL - PETONE - C4/5 - 295 CUTIE'S DIAMOND was scratched and is stood down for 30 days under Rule 322. The race was abandoned after the field caught the lure with a circuit to run. It was established soon after that the lure carriage had struck something very hard and dislodged the lure from the wire. A steel part on the carriage had been bent back at an acute angle in the incident. It has not yet been established how this occurred. The spare fixed arm lure had to be used as a replacement. The Club will give consideration to running the race at their meeting on the 05.12.03. CALM ABIDING suffered a slight injury when the lure was caught and was stood down for 5 days. CUTIE'S DIAMOND. Trainer L.Fornasiere. Stood down for 30 days under Rule 322 at Wellington on 19.11.03. CALM ABIDING. Trainer P and L. Henley. Rule 329 Suffered from a slight leg injury. Stood down for 5 days to 02.12.03.
Race 5 WELLINGTON DERBY - HEAT 2 - R/Aq - 525 Heat 1 ALLEGRO BEAM and CLOSING IN came together, bumped and momentarily lost their footing as they jumped from the traps. As a result they lost some ground. JOSEPH LOCKE moved in on the bend and checked CLOSING IN who lost ground. They were well back at the time and would not have threatened the placegetters.
Race 6 SPICERS PAPER STAKES - C1 - 525 WINSOME RAIDER ran wide throughout and covered extra ground as a result. He was making ground at the finish for fourth place.
Race 7 BRYCE FRANCIS GRAPHICS - C1 - 525 D.Meates the Trainer of UPAHUT ROSE requested permission to late scratch the dog as it has a tendency to lunge at the lure at the finish and he was concerned for the dogs welfare with a fixed arm being used. He commented that he was happy for his other runners to continue with their engagements. The request was granted without penalty as consideration is being given to the banning of fixed arm lures in the near future. UPAHUT AXION was slow to begin but made up some ground during the race. Last start winner POPLAR KEV began on terms with the others but dropped out to race several lengths behind the field and finished well back. The vets examination cleared the dog of injury and it would probably benefit from the experience of its first start at the track. UPAHUT ROSE. Trainer D.Meates. Late scratching under Rule 257 (1) Valid reason.
Race 8 PETER SINCLAIR PHOTO'S - C3 - 295 CHALLENGER BALE and JO JO SAM were scratched and gained starts in race three. Due to an error, FLYAWAY BABE was scratched instead of being placed into the field from the reserves. On discovery, attempts were made to have the dog reinstated but the T.A.B were reluctant to do so due to the lateness of the request. The Club Secretary was cautioned and advised to excersize more care in the future. WON'T BE DENIED broke down and quickly drifted out with a circuit to run. The dog failed to finish and was stood down for 30 days with a serious hock injury. CHALLENGER BALE. Trainer A.Roberts. Started in Race 3. JO JO SAM. Trainer O.Marron. Started in Race 3. WON'T BE DENIED. Trainer J and J.Tapiki. Rule 329. Suffered from a serious hock injury. Stood down for 30 days to 27.12.03.
Race 9 FOTODOG FOTOS - WGTN - C3/4 - 525 KNOCKABOUT NELLY and PANAMA COBRA were tightened between runners on the first corner and dropped out to the rear. PANAMA COBRA recovered to run on and finish just behind the placegetters but KNOCKABOUT NELLY stayed back and tailed the field home.
Race 10 FOTODOG FOTOS - WGTN - C3/4 - 525
