Judicial report: Weather: Fine At the conclusion of Race 11 handler Mr R.Casey was spoken to after he ran on to the track prior to the lure stopping to catch a dog. It was explained to Mr Casey that this was putting both himself and the greyhounds into possible danger and, as this was the first instance of being spoken to, he was cautioned and advised that any further such incidents would result in a charge being laid.

Sammy Havoc (4) was first from the traps, up close to the lead, and ran on best to win by 1 and three-quarter lengths from Mario Scenario (2) which led briefly on the final turn. A vet check after the race showed no injury problems with One Back. King Louis (B.C.Dann), withdrawn by NZGRA after incorrectly drawn into wrong class field. |
Race 3 | APACHE LODGE SPRINT - C0 - 295 | Favourite Homebush Shadow (1) took the lead in the run to the turn and pulled away to win by 4 lengths from Tar Seal (4) which was slow early and made ground. Whata Tex (8) jumped near the lead, crossed over to the rail on the turn, then checked off the rear quarters of Homebush Jason (6) which held off the challenge of Whata Tex in the run home to finish 3rd. |
Race 4 | GARRARDS HORSE AND HOUND STAKES - C1 - 520 | Ebony Deluxe (4) was permitted to box first under Rule 302.3 for this meeting only. Favourite Nil Defects (6) took the lead into the turn and bolted in by 11 lengths from Pareora Pearl (1) which ran on after a slow start. Wee Venetia (8) fell and took no competitive part in the race when on the first bend it tangled with Mulberry Roll (7) which climbed over the back of Wee Venetia. Race 5 | LAMB AND HAYWARD STAKES - C0 - 520 | Favourite Railroad Trump (5) led into the first turn and cruised to an easy 3 and a quarter length victory from Moana Nui (1) which was near the lead throughout. Into the first bend Wear The Fern (2) pushed out wide, went backwards, and then ran on again in the straight for 5th. |
Race 6 | BERNICE IRELAND FIRST NATIONAL SPRINT - C0 - 295 | Atomic Blonde (1), the favourite, led all the way and won comfortably from Dreamchaser (5) which was second throughout. Homebush Jess (4) missed the jump by several lengths but came home well at the end to finish 6th. |

Just A Barkley (2) led from the top of the back straight into the run home but only battled for 4th place. |

Race 11 | COASTERS TAVERN STAKES - C1 - 520 | Winsome Bother (C.Mitchell) had left hock strapped under Rule 243 and papers marked accordingly. Favourite Quiet Spirit (2) was out well, took the lead in the run home, and won from Aqua Costi (6) which finished strongly after racing handily throughout. |
Race 12 | ISLINGTON TAVERN SPRINT - C1 - 295 | Best Hand (2) took the lead into the turn, was headed briefly, then rallied to win comfortably from the favourite Boy Racer (1) which ran on after a slow start.
