Incident Reports

Race Number Race Name Incident Report
Race 1 CATERING PROFESSIONALS DASH - C1 - 318 Faithful Habit and Winsome Eels showed early speed but were quickly overtaken by Shar Nazir which then went strongly to the line.
Race 2 BARNEY WIKITERA MEMORIAL - C0 - 527 Token Sniper took the field through the fist bend before surrendering control to the favourite Osbourne - that dog kicking away with ease to the line. Ollymacron was positioned up handy to the lead on the rail in the early running, then flared outwards, across the back of Osbourne and further out onto Ebony Rain - Ollymacron stayed wide and did not feature any further - a factor here being that a post race veterinary examination revealed a leg injury which required a stand down for that dog. Mario Scenario dwelt badly at the jump and was never in any real contention from that point although he did make some late ground down the straight. No 2 Ollymacron (GC Farrell). Rule 329. Sore wrist/stopper bone.Stand down 10 days to 9.11.03. VC held.
Race 3 BELLBIRD TAVERN STAKES - C1 - 527 Escalante Desert angled sharply to the rail on jumping, bringing the two dogs drawn inside him, Ewan Jake and Justa Toff, to a virtual standstill momentarily and impacting adversely on their chances. Splicklez took the lead mid back straight and kept his strong momentum to the line.
Race 4 VALLEY POOL DASH - C2 - 318 Heza Burner was away from the boxes the quickest and withstood the charging run from Kedos Ned from box 8 - the dogs maintaining that order to the line. Sharna's Lad came into shoulder contact with Hot Discovery after the jump, then moved across the front of Hot Discovery, checking that dog and barging over to the rail, contacting with Dataman en route and affecting that dog's chances. Sharna's Lad then moved back outwards, pushing into Turf Muncher and going wide before dropping to the back. A factor to the erratic running of Sharna's Lad, the favourite, may have been the torn pads revealed in the post race veterinary examination, the subject of a stand down for that greyhound. Hot Discovery came from a rear position in the early running to be third at the line in a sound late burst. No 3 Sharna's Lad ( B & L Craik). Rule 329. Torn pads. Stand down 10 days to 9.11.03. VC held.
Race 5 THE MAD BUTCHER STAKES - C1 - 527 The favourite Kiwi Fire took the field from the jump to the closing stages of the race where he tired and was gathered in by Dorothy Bale. No 2 Minimoo ( MH Knight). Rule 259 - torn gracilus muscle. Stand down 21 days to 19.11.03. Dog presented. VC held. .
Race 6 MEADOWSET GRAPHICS STAKES - C2/3 - 527 Poco King stormed around the field exiting the first bend, went to the front and held strongly from that point. Twilight Lane moved out off the rail and shouldered into Dallas Apollo whilst towards the rear of the field during the rounding of the first bend - putting Dallas Apollo momentarily off stride but that dog still went forward in the running to be placed third at the line.
Race 7 CAROL'S TAB DASH - C3 - 318 Rawhiti Lad was the early leader before Tessa's Delight took over control and held a sustained run to the line.November Blossom was slow to start - making no improvement during the running. Rawhiti Lad veered wide after his initial leading role - easing Just Curly, Miss Vegi Web and Zosha out wide as well. Approaching the straight entrance Rawhiti Lad veered even wider but still stormed down the track outer to be second at the line.
Race 8 RADIO PACIFIC FEATURE STAKES - C2 - 527 Bitter Sammy was quickly to the front and held off the fast closing Truant to the line.
Race 9 STREET'S ICECREAM DASH - C4/5 - 318 Tempest Hove kept clear of problems in the running behind him when he kicked away early and held to the line, notwithstanding the strong finish of Gold Amore for second. Bacon Lady was subject to jostling and being squeezed for racing room in the early stages, then Le Mans Song bored out onto Bacon Lady causing her to scramble momentarily and move wide where she impacted with the favourite, My Toby - My Toby in turn impacting with Macain, both those dogs being then out of the running. Bacon Lady went to the back of the field after the buffeting and did not improve. Le Mans Song also drifted back and played no part in the finish.
Race 10 'TRICK OR TREAT' STAKES - C4 - 527 Almost A Dancer, the reserve from box 7, streaked away from the jump and although gathered in by the eventual winner, Winsome Dixie, during the run down the back straight, held well for second. The general tightening of the field behind the leaders at the first bend adversely affected the chances of Roses Groover and the favourite, Token Warrior, in particular. No 7 Summer Rock (NP Green). Greyhound now deceased.
