Judicial report: Weather: Fine An enquiry under Rule 257 was opened into the non presentation of Jemalong Eastern (J.T.McInerney) in Race 2. The dog had been a reserve at the Wellington GRC meeting the previous night on 15th October and got a start. Due to a delay in the ferry leaving Wellington the dog had been unable to get to Dunedin. The explanation was accepted, the dog was withdrawn without penalty and no further action required.

Race 1 WATERLOO HOTEL SPRINT - C1 - 310 Favourite Homebush Brian (7) was slow to trap, up to lead on the turn, and ran on best to win by 2 and three-quarter lengths from Jet Junction (2) which finished on after a slow beginning. On the back straight the favourite climbed into the back of Homebush Rose (5) which fell heavily and broke its front left leg. During the incident Shy One (1), My Perk (4), and Call The Tune (6) were pushed out wide and back, finishing at the rear of the field. After the race Homebush Rose was humanely euthanased.
Race 2 T.L.McLEAN'S DASH - C1 - 310 Knockabout Nippa (A.C.Roberts) was permitted to box first under Rule 302.3 and papers marked accordingly. Blonde Fever (5) took the lead into the turn and ran on fairly to win by 2 lengths from Wee Amy Leigh (4) which was always handy. Favourite Venetia Shines (1) led to the turn and battled on for 3rd. On the turn Our Affair (7) ran out very wide and pushed Homebush George (8) to the fence, with both dogs finishing at the rear of the field. Jemalong Eastern (J.T.McInerney), Rule 257 not presented. Withdrawn without penalty.
Race 3 10 O'CLOCK DAIRY MAIDEN - C0 - 310 Petite Jewel (8) took the lead in the run to the turn and held on to win from Whata Tex (4) which made ground steadily after a slow start. Sydney's Legend (1) was well back into the turn and ran on strongly to get up for 3rd a nose away. Gwingana Token (J.& D.Fahey) stood down at Christchurch meeting on 14/10/2003 under rule 329 7 days up to and including 20/10/2003. Homebush Frank (J.T.McInerney), Rule 259 diarrohea. 10 days up to and including 25/10/2003. Vet certificate to follow.
Race 4 NORTH TAIERI TAVERN STAKES - C1 - 545 545m race abandoned. This was declared a No Race under Rule 305.2 when the lead dog caught up with and touched the lure short of the line. An investigation showed that the wire rope had slipped off one of the pulleys at the motor causing the lure to stop. The wire was tightened and the lure tested prior to the running of the next race. No further action required. Homebsuh Sid (J.T.McInerney), Rule 259 diarrohea. 10 days up to and including 25/10/2003. Vet certificate to follow. Race 5 WOBBLY'S FUNCTION CENTRE SPRINT - C1/2 - 310 Hugh Dagg (M.& J.Jopson) had permission to box first endorsement under Rule 302.3 removed from papers. Bankside Night (2) led from the first turn, put several lengths on the field and held on to win by 2 and a quarter lengths from the favourite Miss Blue Velvet (7) which was handy throughout. Race 6 CROFTERS BAR & RESTAURANT SPRINT - C3/4 - 310 Whisky's Token (4) took the lead into the turn and held on to win from High Fever (8) which was second throughout. Favourite Special Hand (6) only battled in midfield to finish 5th. Late scratching: Walton Bale (A.C.Roberts), Rule 259 carpal soreness. 10 days up to and including 25/10/2003. Vet certificate supplied.
